Clifton Manor Nursing Home in Nottingham provides specialist nursing and dementia care to up to 30 people. The home holds a current CQC rating of Good (January 2022) and ranks in the carehome.co.uk Top 20 East Midlands 2025, placing it among the highest-rated nursing homes in the region.

The clinical team includes a manager with ten years of experience in the Nottingham City Dementia Outreach Team and a TVN nurse whose research has been published in the British Medical Journal. This is genuine clinical specialism that very few nursing homes in Nottinghamshire can match. Clifton Manor Nursing Home also holds the Lifelong Smiles accreditation, recognising its commitment to residents' oral health and wellbeing.

Clifton Manor Nursing Home offers something distinctive in the Nottingham care market: the clinical depth of a specialist dementia nursing service within a small, intimate, 30-bed home. A beach-themed sensory room provides a calming, stimulating environment for residents with advanced dementia. The garden, recently enhanced with a new mural, is a genuinely beautiful space for residents and families to enjoy. Smart TVs in all communal lounges, a weekly hair salon, and a varied programme of activities, chair exercise, music, and regular community outings complete the picture.

Clifton Manor Nursing Home shares its kitchen and menu with its sister home, Clifton Manor Residential Home, which is located nearby, offering families the option of residential or nursing care within the same Clifton Manor family.
For families in Clifton, West Bridgford, and across South Nottingham seeking expert nursing or specialist dementia care, Clifton Manor Nursing Home provides clinical excellence at fees well below the premium residential sector.

I would like to thank the amazing staff that cared for my mother especially in the last eighteen months, you went above and beyond your duties to care for the residents in such difficult times. The care and attention you gave my mum is greatly appreciated and you made our family feel at ease knowing
she had the right care and love she deserved thank you.

From the moment my sister and I walked through the door we knew this was the right place for our mum, the welcome we got and the atmosphere was lovely and friendly and the staff became Mum’s second family, they all loved her as if she was there own mum and kept us well informed of Mum’s care, we cannot
thank them enough for what they did for her.

My mother aged 93, was discharged from hospital into end-of-life care and needed to be on oxygen. The Hospital were reluctant to send her to a nursing home insisting on returning her to a care home. The manager at Clifton Manor Nursing Home was extremely helpful to me and also spoke with the hospital
registrar to arrange for my mother to be transferred to Clifton Manor Nursing Home at Clifton where she received excellent care for the remaining days of her life.
Reply from Chris Perks, Quality Assurance Manager at Clifton Manor Nursing HomeMany thanks for your kind review. We are really pleased our manager was able to assist and I will ensure this review is passed onto the manager and the team.

My brother was a resident of Clifton Manor for over 18 months (sadly died a few days ago). My sisters and I have nothing but praise for his care, all of the staff were lovely to him and other residents. Special thanks also go to all the staff and nurses. We think we chose the best care for him.

Over the past five years, my wife has been well cared for and, dare I say it, loved by the staff. She is always clean and properly dressed, with her hair brushed, etc. She seems happy and contented. Relatives of other residents have told me how they had to move their loved ones to Clifton Manor after
unhappy experiences with other homes. I have not heard any complaints and I visit regularly, usually three times a week. When we were looking at homes, my son, an RMN with long experience in the care of the elderly, said "if you can smell air freshener, there's something wrong". At Clifton Manor, obviously, residents occasionally have hygiene "accidents" but those are dealt with speedily without fuss. I have never heard a raised voice by any staff member.

My father is a resident at this home and has been for nearly two years. Choosing a nice clean home for your loved ones is a very difficult task but my gut reaction was good and I’ve since been proven right.

The manager and her team keep me updated with things all the time.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.350)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.350) out of 10 for Clifton Manor Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.800 for Clifton Manor Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.8
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clifton Manor Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home manager Joined: 2013

I began my career in care in 2013 after supporting a loved one living with dementia, which inspired me to learn more about the sector. Having previously completed work experience at Clifton Manor at the age of 15, it felt natural to return and start my journey there. I worked my way up from Carer to Senior, then Deputy, and now Home Manager, while completing my Level 5 in Leadership & Management and specialist dementia training.

My passion for care comes from personal experience and a strong desire to make a difference. I’m particularly driven by supporting people living with dementia and ensuring they receive compassionate, person-centred care that respects their dignity and individuality. As a manager, I find it most rewarding to support both residents and staff, creating a positive environment where everyone feels valued.

My key strengths include dementia care, palliative care, and leadership. I focus on delivering care that supports comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being, especially at the end of life, while working closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure each person’s needs are met.

I take a compassionate and patient approach, understanding that every individual’s experience is different. Building trust with families is just as important to me, ensuring they feel confident and reassured that their loved ones are in safe hands.

Outside of work, I live by the value of being kind to everyone—you never know what someone else may be going through.
