What an amazing care home Heathlands Village is. My Mum spent the last 8 weeks of her life in the Wolfson Nursing Unit. The care that was shown to my Mum was outstanding. All the staff - whether admin, caring, nursing, housekeeping or catering - tried their very best to ensure that Mum was comfortable
and their goal was to make her feel special in any way they could every day. They attended to her emotional well being in as much detail as her physical and medical needs. Mum was a practising Catholic and the staff attended to her religious needs wonderfully. All the staff including the reception staff were always very welcoming to all the family and eager to help in any way. Everyone, we met always said hello - reflecting the wonderful ethos of the home - treat others as you would like to be treated. The building is immaculately kept and the housekeeping staff are continually working to keep these high standards. The family cannot thank Heathlands Village
enough for the excellent care Mum had.

Our accommodation is excellent, the carers are first class, but sometimes in short supply. The food is fairly varied, but because we prefer to eat in our room is often tepid. Cleaning and laundry are up to standard. Activities are good but for medial reasons are not often used.

My mum is there for respite care, after a long admission in hospital. Naturally dubious as Mum previously stayed with me, she has adapted very well and is receiving direct care and she is more than happy. Staff are friendly and have time for you, although an information sheet of what services they provide
would have been beneficial, i.e. doing her washing for me, thus allowing both of us time to adjust to the different routine.
I feel Mum is safe as she is assisted when mobilizing and a fall mat is placed at the side of the bed which alerts staff. Mum is happy with the activities provided and enjoys the food despite being on modified fluids and diet. Security in the building is also above what I expected, and there is always someone on reception - from morning to night.

My mother has been living at Beach House, Healthlands Village for almost nine years. I live some distance away so don't get to visit as regularly as I want. Nevertheless, I feel confident that mum is well looked after. As mum's needs have changed, we have been involved every step of the way, advising
on what is best for mum.
Beach House is top notch, modern, clean and safe with the residents at the heart of the building design and facilities. There is always a calm and caring atmosphere whenever I visit and staff go out of their way to welcome me and my family and spend time updating us on mum. We feel part of the Beach House community.

Felt very emotional visiting my father-in-law here today (short stay). He was clean, well presented and very relaxed. I do not have the resources to keep him here. If only all care homes were like this. The care and kindness is more important to me than surroundings but this place had it all. I did
not see anything that typically relates to old people. I witnessed humanity and dignity. There is surely hope for me if I need total care in the future. A big thank you to the staff.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
