My grandad was in the St Theresa unit until he passed. Having worked in care and my grandad having been in other care homes I cannot give enough praise to this home. The care and compassion was above and beyond. Every single member of staff was polite, friendly and caring at every level and nothing was ever too much to ask. Observing staff with other residents was a breath of fresh air. Staff were patient and most importantly spoke to them as any other adult rather than a dementia sufferer. They engaged with them and the place had a lovely homely feel. Cannot recommend enough.

It was a privilege to care for your grandad, and we are so grateful that you trusted us to be part of his journey. Knowing that you experienced our home as warm, welcoming and homely means a great deal to us.
Thank you again for your wonderful words and for recognising our amazing team.
With our very best wishes to you and your family.

As I give St Mary's a shout out on my radio show, I was only too pleased to have my wife to have respite at St Mary's. The care she got was 1st class, and all the staff sang happy birthday. The nurse said my wife didn't look too good, so he did the OPs. He said they were high and rang the crash team, when he gave them he was told to dial 999. When in hospital I was told my wife had a blood clot in her lower abdomen and her vital organs were closing down. My wife died 10.15 next morning in her sleep and pain free, if it wasn't for the nurse, my wife would have died in pain, as the hospital had stronger pain relief. I cannot praise the nurse enough for his alertness and quick actions.

We always looked forward to your daily visits and continue to enjoy listening to your radio show and hearing your kind mentions of St Mary's.

Extremely concerning experience with this nursing home.
My grandfather was admitted for nursing care following clear assurances that he would receive appropriate support and supervision. In our experience, these assurances were not met. We observed him left in the same clothing for extended periods, with poor hygiene and a lack of basic dignity. Despite not having dementia, he was placed on a dementia ward, which we considered inappropriate for his needs.
We were told he would be assisted out of bed and reviewed by a doctor; however, we saw no evidence that a medical review took place, and no clear records were provided to confirm this when we asked. Staffing levels appeared insufficient to meet even basic care needs, and due to repeated concerns raised by my grandfather, our family felt it necessary to visit multiple times each day.
On the morning of his death, we were informed by a nurse that he had been repeatedly pressing his alarm, that his door was closed, and that he had been

We are deeply sorry for the loss of your grandfather and understand how difficult this time has been for your family.
We take all feedback seriously and have thoroughly reviewed the concerns raised. Our records confirm that he received regular personal care throughout his stay, documented twice daily, often more. He was admitted to the general nursing side of our St Alexius Unit - not a dementia ward - and this was discussed with your family prior to admission with the Home Manager.
Medical oversight included a GP ward round, multiple nursing reviews, and ongoing monitoring, with clinical changes identified and acted upon throughout his stay.
Staffing on the unit included a registered nurse present at all times alongside care staff, and over 700 care entries were recorded across his 30-day stay, reflecting consistent and attentive care.
We are confident that he was treated with dignity and compassion, and that the care provided met his needs throughout his time with us.

My mum entered St Marys at the beginning of October 2025 and passed away in the home at the end of January 2026. I don't think 5 stars are enough to reflect the care/support/attitude and love provided to both my mum (and us as a family). My mum had Dementia yet that didn't change the way she was treated. All the staff treated her with respect and gave her the dignity she deserved at the end of her life. All the staff always had a smile (and were prepared to give you theirs if you didn't have one). Mark and the management team couldn't do enough (and we really do appreciate that). I can't recommend St Mary's enough. For peace of mind knowing a loved one is cared for, respected and looked after, whilst immediate family aren't there is an absolute must - and St Mary's delivers on that. No words can express our gratitude. Thank you xx

All the staff have really gotten to know my mum.
After a week my mum had her hair done by the home. The staff painted her nails. The staff on the unit keep my mum entertained with card games and other things.
The building is a bit dated, but I've looked past that as it's not about the building it's about what my mum needs and the staff.
They are able to keep her safe and give her what she needs.
Your words...

The home and the staff are both so appropriate and considerate towards my dad's care. Whilst he is very poorly he seems happy and he is very well cared for. He is warm, clean, well fed and happy, in his own little world. Thank you so much.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry that this was a difficult and upsetting time, and we understand how distressing it is when a loved one becomes unwell.
We would like to clarify a few points to ensure the information shared is accurate. Your father was admitted on 22/10/2025 as a permanent placement, arranged by Manchester City Council following several hospital admissions. Due to his comorbidities, he was mainly nursed in bed in line with professional assessments/care planning.
Staff completed regular checks and personal care throughout the day and night, which is well documented. There were occasions when your father initially declined care, which was respected, but this was later accepted. We also supported your wish to assist with his personal care.
On the day he went to hospital, the Nurse agreed that this was the best result and was part of her assessment.
We attempted to reach out without success to discuss further.

We want to say a huge thank you to the team at St Mary's. My mother in law was only at St Mary's a short while but the staff ensured her final weeks and days were met with respect, kindness and dignity. The team always made us feel welcome, greeting us with a smile and chit chat. St Mary's has a great community feel, with residents and staff observed engaging with each other, and whilst my mother in law wasn't able to engage in activities as such, there was always something going on and they did their best to include her. The attention to my mother in law's personal care, was outstanding with her always looking well presented in a lovely clean bed. My mother in law was on a 1-1 and it was lovely to see how attentive staff were to meet her needs, creatively communicating with her with a real sense that her support needs were understood. My mother in law's last days were well cared for with family included and wishes respected every step of the way. A highly recommended nursing home.

Mum resided here for 5 and half years for the most part very comfortably and well cared for. The home is clean and comfortable, whilst care is good, there could be more staff on units, sometimes staff are busy and others needs have to wait.

Saying thank you does not seem enough to express how grateful the family are for all they do everyday, and always with a smile. It is spotlessly clean, everywhere and the lovely cleaning ladies, care workers and nurses really do go above and beyond in all they do. The receptionist, office staff and activities team are all so welcoming and caring and always take the time to ask after Dad. All Dad's needs are taken care of and we all feel part of the St Mary's family.
