We use the NHS digital health system during the day to minimise hospital visits but unfortunately, this provision ends at 10pm. We are pleased to say that we have now reorganised our housekeeping team and there is now a specific laundry team in place. This will ensure that personal laundry is returned to the right resident.

Mum seems happy and settled at Riverside, and well cared for. Staff have to anticipate all her needs as she is unable to communicate with them. The staff are always approachable, kind and considerate.

Thanks very much for your great feedback on Riverside. We are delighted that you rate the overall standard of care and facilities as excellent and you think the staff are amazing. With regards to your comments about the food, our head chef was off work with a burn to his arm and we had a period of using agency chefs. We are happy to say that the head chef is now back at work and we have just started new summer menus, which the residents have had involvement in finalising.

TGH recommended the riverside and I met with a lady she assured me that they could meet her needs and they have a disappointed. My sister and I visit separately and regularly and both agree on these facts. As regards to the management/staff, I have met and chatted to all and I only dislike one. That's not bad.

I have worked for Care UK for most of my adult life, starting out as a healthcare assistant and progressing to my current role as Home Manager. With encouragement from colleagues, I also completed my nursing degree as a mature student.Being able to work my way up and gain my qualifications (which also include NVQs in health and social care and leadership and management) has been a huge achievement for me and a big career highlight.
In this role, you need to be able to communicate well and have strong leadership and planning skills. Working as a team also means you have to be good at motivating people. It is also important to have a good grasp of budgets, and it is essential to be clear about safeguarding policies and procedures.
The work we do really does make a difference, and that fills me with immense pride. It feels great when we get positive feedback from relatives who can see their loved ones are receiving the quality care they need.
My favourite part of the day is the time I’m able to spend having a coffee, cake and a chat with residents. Seeing everyone get along well and share special moments really does brighten up each day.
Outside of work, I love to travel and spend time with my children and grandchildren.
