The home has a friendly and happy atmosphere. The staff are pleasant and helpful. My mother's room is kept clean.
The nursery staff are exceptional and I am kept informed of my mother's condition as I visit regularly. I have no complaints and am happy with the care she is receiving.

Riverside has provided good, consistent care to my mother-in-law. Who has spent the last 4 years here.
All staff are friendly and willing to provide help and information regarding my mother-in-law. They contact myself or my brother-in-law of any issues with her health so keep us informed. Her current
room is light and comfortable on the nursing unit.
The standard of food is excellent. Thank you.

Lovely supportive staff, friendly and approachable. I feel confident my father is being cared for well. My father seems content and has a good relationship with the staff.
I love joining in with the activities and fundraising days. There is always something to distract and entertain the residents.
I
enjoy visiting Dad and feel comfortable enough to sit and chat with members of the care team and share a brew.

I find the staff at Riverside friendly and approachable. I have regular discussions with my dad, he is happy and feels well cared for. I find the home a clean and tidy environment which is well run. If ever I have had a concern it has been addressed quite promptly.
I find there is continuity in my
dad's care and his needs are always met.

Reception staff are friendly and approachable. Staff have knowledge of and understand my father in law's needs.
They ensure he is encouraged to wash and dress each day even though he just wants to remain in bed.
Staff liaise with family by phone when he is having a bad day and/or distressed and we
can speak to him and calm him down.

My mum has complex dementia which in the past has caused other homes problems to the extent that they had her sectioned. TGH recommended the riverside and I met with a lady she assured me that they could meet her needs and they have a disappointed. My sister and I visit separately and regularly and
both agree on these facts. As regards to the management/staff, I have met and chatted to all and I only dislike one. That's not bad.

Current Review Score: 7.4 (7.417)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.4 (7.417) out of 10 for Riverside is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.000 for Riverside is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (3 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.417 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Riverside is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.167
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I have almost 20 years of experience in the health and social care sector, starting my career as a care assistant and working my way up to become a home manager. Along the way, I’ve gained many skills and qualifications, including completing my Level 5 diploma. I’ve been a home manager since 2017 and achieving this goal has been one of my proudest career highlights.

I chose to join Care UK because of its strong reputation for delivering quality care. It’s important to me to be part of an organisation that shares my values of compassion and empathy. For my role, understanding, patience and good listening skills are essential.

The best part of my day is knowing that we have supported residents with their day-to-day needs, ensuring that we provide good quality care and create a positive environment for everyone who lives at Riverside care home.

Providing a good quality service is the most important part of my role, and I’m proud to lead a team committed to making a real difference every day.
