When my father was showing signs of confusion and dizziness we called Westcliffe Manor for help. My father was well cared for and had a secure one-night stay where the staff were kind and helpful. The facilities were excellent, once we established his health issue he was allowed to go back home. Thank
you very much.

Westcliffe Manor provided my mum with a full range of excellent care. In March 2020, they gave her happy days full of good food and friendly dedicated staff. She was thrilled. The next time I saw her was when garden visits commenced much to our delight. It was plain to see her closeness and love for
her carer. The photograph I have of them together is one of my favourites. Colder weather meant the pod was used. Her health deteriorated in November. She was 99 and had cancer. The Westcliffe team then tended to her every need keeping her comfortable and providing outstanding medical care. In fact, my mum's doctor phoned me after a video call he'd had to say how impressed he was by the high standard of the tricky dressing the wonderful nurses were providing. Through the good times and the difficult times, the team manages to display best practices alongside genuine kindness and compassion. Inspired by the wonderful manager, they gave my mum their all and I love them for that.

My mother (now of 98 years) has been a resident of Westcliffe Manor for nearly 6 years and during this time her health has become increasingly fragile. Without exception, the care and nursing provided by the staff has been exemplary, in particular throughout the present pandemic.

Every thing at this nursing home is, to say the least, very good. All the carers are very good and show a great commitment to their job. The manager gets very involved with the day to day jobs, and sets a very good example to all the staff.

I was admitted to Westcliffe Manor in January after long hospital stays, resulting in a nervous breakdown. Came here for 2-week respite, now I am still here in May, not entirely due to lockdown but the care of the staff is superb. I don't think I can manage at home yet but with my lovely staff, I'm
happy for now.

Considering the trauma involved in leaving and selling one's own home followed perhaps by a spell in hospital it is important to find a care home/nursing home that is suitable for one's needs. Then there is the cost. Is there enough in one's banking account to pay the cost? There are many questions
that are a worry to many an elderly person as their life begins to draw towards its close and so I believe that this care home/nursing home is the right choice.

Our family were all welcomed into the wonderful caring environment at Westcliffe Manor. From the outset, we knew that Mum was cherished and nursed to the highest standard. She looked so well cared for and was so happy with her amazing team of carers. No matter when we came to Westcliffe we were made
welcome and the respect for the dignity of the guests was first-rate. There was always a real buzz of activity around the place. We couldn’t have found anywhere better for our Mum. Thank you, from all the family.

Westcliffe Manor is a warm, friendly, well managed and caring environment for our relative to live, she is well cared for by professional committed staff, and is well led by the management team. Our relative is comfortable and happy, her room is lovely and well kept by housekeeping. Finding Westcliffe
Manor for our relative has meant she is comfortable with all her physical, emotional and medical needs are met, and we appreciate how much love and attention are given to our relative. Thank you!

May we first say that the manager at WCM has excellent leadership skills which enable her team to deliver the very best care, affection and professionalism to the vulnerable residents in their care.
The facilities at WCM are second to none and nothing is ever too much trouble.
From the excellent nursing
care our aunt receives to the highest standards of care, hygiene, meals etc, may we repeat ourselves of the "Highest Standards ".
We as a family would not hesitate in recommending WCM to anyone looking for a home from home setting for their loved ones.
In the terrifying situation, we find ourselves in at the moment, we cannot thank the manager and her team for the excellent care and affection they are giving our aunt.
We are forever in their debt.

This is a wonderful home with outstanding staff and extremely high standards of care. The staff are warm, caring and highly professional. No request is too small, and they take the trouble to find out about the people in their care, their particular preferences and needs. This has been especially welcome
now as know my aunt is safe and nurtured even though we cannot be with her.
The facilities are outstanding too: the house is beautifully maintained, and the rooms are light and airy. Catering is of a very high standard, more like a hotel than a care home.

We are highly satisfied with Westcliffe Manor. Both my brother and sister-in-law are residents. From the manager down, all the staff have the needs of patients as top priority. The home is always welcoming, beautifully furnished and has excellent food. The care and devotion my sister-in-law, in particular,
has been given is more than excellent. She always seems happy there.
The manager, staff, quality of food and hygiene are above average.

My wife is bedbound and therefore does not partake in many of the activities. Nevertheless, with the aid of a wheelchair and a minibus with hydraulic lift and security fittings, she has been on a number of outings. My wife is fed by peg, we are therefore not able to comment on the dining experience.
Reply from Sue Rigg, Home Manager at Westcliffe Manor

Thank you for your review, although your wife is bed bound it hasn't stopped her enjoying part of the activities and managing to go on our regular day trips. We pride ourselves on adapting to all our clients' needs and your wife especially loves her Lord Street shopping trips with the staff and frequently joins the rest of the residents for our sing along's with 'The Blue Bird's'. Thank You from all at Westcliffe Manor.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.630)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.630) out of 10 for Westcliffe Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.830 for Westcliffe Manor is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.83
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westcliffe Manor is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
