Avonleigh Gardens

from D S (Son of Resident) published on 28 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Father recently spent 2 weeks at Avonleigh following an accident involving major trauma and multiple surgical operations. His stay provided a bridge between the hospital and independent living, allowing him to recover and recuperate sufficiently to return home.

His room and the shared facilities

were bright, clean and well maintained, the meals were varied and the team ensured his medical and dietary requirements were met at all times, both day and night.

My Father interacted with a broad cross section of the Avonleigh team, all of whom supported him and ensured that his needs, both medical and pastoral, were met throughout his stay.

During his stay I met with members from the management, day care and night care teams. Each one was professional, helpful and engaged in his ongoing care experience. They demonstrated a dedication to their field of work which provided me with confidence in the care facility.

A big thank you to the Avonleigh team for helping in my Father's recovery.

Reply from Daisy Edmondson, Marketing Executive at Avonleigh GardensThank you for your kind words and 5* review. We're really pleased to hear that your father's stay at Avonleigh Gardens provided the support he needed during his recovery. It's great to know that the team were able to make him feel comfortable, well cared for, and supported.
We will share your feedback with the team, they will really appreciate it. Wishing your father all the very best as he continues his recovery at home.

My mum has been in the care home for over 12 months. She has settled well and is safe and well looked after. The staff work hard and care. There are niggles which could be improved - we have fed this back but improvements don't seem to happen, if this could happen it would make a massive difference.
Reply from Lucie Drakeford, Communications and Marketing Manager at Callands Care HomeThank you for sharing your feedback and for trusting us with your mum's care over the past year. We are really pleased to hear she has settled well and that you feel she is safe and cared for, that's so important to us.

We are sorry to hear that some of the improvements you've raised haven't yet been felt. Your feedback matters, and we recognise how frustrating that can be. We would really welcome the opportunity to revisit this with you and ensure the right actions are taken. Please do get in touch with us directly so we can follow this up properly.

My brother has lived at Callands Care home for the past two years. He received a serious brain injury 20 years ago and has been all round the country in various homes / institutions and I have followed him. This was the first care home funnily enough he was in after his injury. ...and now thank goodness
he is back. I visit regularly and love the staff and the relaxed atmosphere and always feel very welcomed. The main thing is I come away from my visits knowing my younger brother is in safe hands and in a caring safe environment, with members of staff on Conniston that go the extra mile and my brother is the happiest he has been in many years . I can not thank them enough for the care he has and how it's changed my life too knowing he is being looked after . Thank you all from carers to cleaners .

Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They are very attentive to her needs, and heip if Susan is struggling with simple things, like cutting up her food. Susan is very happy at Marsh House Care Home.

My review is related to the excellent treatment of my husband since he has been in dovehaven, staff are always friendly, my husband suffers from Lewy body dementia, he is very happy and content, always cared for, well fed, if I ever have a concern it is always taken seriously and sorted, I love to see
my husband at least twice a week, as a 75 year old I do have health issue of my own, if I can't get in I can face time the home and have a face to face call with my husband which benefits us both, I would recommend dovehaven grove to anyone needing to place a loved one into a care home,

The new programme of activities has really improved the day to day experience. As I get to know the staff I am constantly impressed by their care & attitude to residents, this is all staff - domestic/catering as well as the staff directly involved in care. My husband is happy and encouraged to help
with various tasks which, in turn, makes him feel he has a role.

Thank you to all the care team at Birch Abbey. You are unfailingly cheerful, everyone knows the names of the residents and have a ward or two as they go about their duties. Mum can be a little quiet at times, doesn't always join in, but enjoys the activities from the side lines. There was a lovely singer
in the other week, Mum was actually mouthing the words of the songs - lovely! Your care getting her up and dressed every day shows - she is always dressed in co-ordinating colours, as she likes - Thanks. xx
Reply from Daisy Edmondson, Marketing Executive at Birch AbbeyThank you for your kind words. Its great to hear that your mum enjoys the atmosphere at Birch Abbey and that our care teams are always friendly and cheerful.
