Argyle Park

from Jean H (Wife of Resident) published on 13 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband has been in Argyle Park for almost 6 months now, and as his wife who visits every day, we cannot speak highly enough of the staff here. I have seen staff do menial and unpleasant tasks, but still with a smile! Some patients can be difficult with staff, but they do not respond except by kindness.
They show patience, tolerance, long suffering but also joy in their work. They spread happiness and joy! The manager is truly an example of the above, too, and so gives a good lead which they all follow.

Reply from Lucie Drakeford, Marketing & Communications Manager at Argyle Park

Thank you for your lovely words. We're so pleased to hear such positive feedback about your husband's time at Argyle Park. I'll be sure to pass your review on to the team, they work extremely hard to provide an excellent standard of care for the residents and they should be proud of creating the joyful environment you have described!

The Brunswick

from Sue H (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Dad came to the Brunswick nearly 3 years ago. During that time his mixed dementia sadly worsened and his needs became greater as time passed. At every step of the journey, my Dad was treated with the utmost care and respect. He spent a very happy 3 years with all of the other staff. They ensured his
every need was catered for. Dad was happy, safe and well cared for. I am forever thankful that when a member of staff went out to assess him in his transitional setting, that she felt Dad was right for the Brunswick, as the Brunswick was definitely the best place for his final years. It wasn't often Dad needed medical care but if he did then they ensured he was seen quickly and kept me up to date
The other residents are lovely and the atmosphere in the home is that of an extended family. I would 100% recommend the Brunswick care home to any family worrying about finding the right place. I am forever indebted to the ladies and gentlemen who made his last years so happy

Avonleigh Gardens

from Louise E (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum has dementia and is a very challenging lady. She is partially sighted and hard of hearing, she is however mobile.
The staff are outstanding, they are kind and patient and work with us, the family, to help mum. Her room is beautiful and practical. We have personalised it and she believes that
she is staying in a hotel! The staff ensure that she remains hydrated by offering a variety of drinks that she enjoys. The food is appetizing and as mum has a southern appetite, they offer alternatives if there is nothing that she fancies.
The garden area is fantastic with decking areas, numerous chairs and benches that are placed to enable privacy or encourage integration and interaction.
Mum has been out on trips and when she's feeling grumpy, is allowed to be alone but is discreetly monitored. She occasionally joins in with activities but sometimes is just happy to wash up!
Choosing a care home is incredibly challenging, Avonleigh and its staff made the process much simpler. Fantastic.

Reply from Jan Hunstone, Regional Manager at Avonleigh Gardens

Thank you so much for your review. This means so much to the team within the home. They work hard to ensure that all their residents are cared for in a professional manner at all times. The manager and team should be very proud of their high standard of care.

My great-grandad is currently living at Hope House, and we couldn't be happier with the care he's receiving. Although he had the chance to return home once his baseline was reached, he chose to stay because he feels so well looked after there. Every time we visit, he looks well presented & clearly content.
The staff are always friendly, helpful & quick to respond to the buzzer. The home itself is clean, welcoming & always smells fresh. Small details make a big difference. It gives our family peace of mind knowing he is in a supportive & caring environment. We are truly grateful to the Hope House team.

Church View Nursing & Residential Home

from Ursula S (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 4 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

There is no other home like this. It's the best!
All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, it is very homely and always smells lovely and fresh.
They have so many activities going on, your loved one is never bored.
In the last 6 weeks since my father law moved into the home, he has gained weight,
loves the food and choice available, he's always clean and tidy, he has received exceptional nursing care that has met his care needs and he is very settled and content. On a routine visit for an outpatients hospital appointment, the staff were amazed at how well he looked and asked which care home he was in.
A huge thank you to the manager and all the team, you can see how much you care and respect all your residents and their families.
We'd like to thank every member of staff for all their dedication and hard work, Church View is a credit to each and everyone of you.
We feel so lucky to know that our loved one is receiving the best care and that he is happy and safe.
Highly recommend.

The Brunswick

from C M (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

We moved Mum in here in July 2024, and it has been a wonderful residential home for Mum. The staff have been lovely and my sister and I will really miss them all. Mum's Alzheimer's has sadly meant she needs more specialised help, and for that reason, with heavy hearts, we have had to make the difficult
decision to move her. We will miss all the fun afternoons with the staff and residents, and would recommend The Brunswick without hesitation.

Callands Care Home

from Kevin P (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 19 June 2025

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding the care and treatment of my mother-in-law, [Her Full Name], who was admitted to Callands Care Home in late May 2025 following a hospital stay due to a broken right leg sustained in a fall. She was placed at Callands for assessment

and support, with clear knowledge that she was a high fall risk.

Upon visiting regularly with my wife, we observed a series of unacceptable practices and apparent neglect that we feel compelled to report:

Inadequate Supervision & Unsafe Room Placement
Despite her known fall risk, she was placed in a far room (referred to us as "the furthest room") where there was little to no staff presence. As a result, she suffered multiple falls while under the care home's supervision. The repeated bruising on her body was visible and disturbing, yet we found no evidence that these incidents were being recorded or responded to appropriately.

CQC should pay a visit ASAP

I am sorry to read your review of your experience of our home. We have fully investigated your concerns. Every incident in our care home is thoroughly investigated and logged on our incident management system and we constantly review staffing rotas to ensure that there are adequate staff members to care for our residents. With all clients who have a falls history we use sensor technology to detect movement so that we can try and prevent them. We also keep in constant contact with Next of Kin whenever an incident occurs. We would like to reassure that we have taken your complaint extremely seriously and always believe that we can learn from all feedback and incidents.

Callands Care Home

Impossibly long wait out in all weathers before entry into recepton at weekends. Often impossible to get through to anyone by phone after reception gone home, as unti staff busy.
Suggestion - for those visiting frequently, and long term, have identity cards, similar to hospitals.

Reply from Daisy Edmondson, Marketing Executive at Callands Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced delays when visiting, particularly at weekends. At times, our team may be attending to residents or supporting during mealtimes, which can occasionally cause a short wait at the door. We understand this can be frustrating, and we're looking at ways to improve our response times. Your feedback is appreciated and has been shared with the team.
