The care delivered by the staff team here is excellent. The range of activities and entertainment is absolutely fantastic too. My mother is very well cared for by a team who don't patronise her but listen to her needs. The home itself is always clean and well kept. Brilliant - well done everyone.

I can't thank the staff enough for the care they give my dad. He is truely happy here and we are so happy that he is safe and cared for in such an excellent manner. Carolyn gives my dad such good care and I feel that this needs special recognition.

What a lovely thing to hear about your dad's experience. Knowing he feels happy and settled, while your family feels reassured that he is in safe hands, is incredibly important to us. And thank you for taking the time to recognise Carolyn specifically, we will make sure your kind words reach her.

Birch Abbey has been a lovely place for my dad to be - the staff are friendly, caring and competent and always around to talk to if we have any concerns.
The communal facilities are good and are always cleaned to a high standard and there are plenty of activities put on for the residents to get involved with.

The garden is also kept really nicely and it is an enjoyable place to spend time with my dad.

It's lovely to hear that Birch Abbey has become such an enjoyable place for both you and your dad. From the activities and beautifully kept garden to having a team you can easily talk to, it sounds like you've found a real sense of comfort and community. Overall Experience

The care is brilliant. My dad has a catheter and it needs monitoring. He looks healthy and clean and has even put on weight from all the regular meals. The actual home probably needs a bit of an update, but the care is exceptional. My dad has been in nicer looking homes but the care has been lacking. Thank you so much for looking after him with patience and as a part of a family.

Reply from Lucie Drakeford, Communications & Marketing Manager at Birch Abbey

It's wonderful to hear that your dad is doing so well and that you've seen such a positive difference in his health and wellbeing since coming to us. Knowing that his care feels personal, patient and consistent means a great deal. Thank you too for your honest feedback about the home itself - we really value hearing what matters most to families. We'll pass your lovely words on to the team

Review of Millbrook House from J R (Wife of Resident) published on 14 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My husband has been in Millbrook House for about 2 months. He has multiple sclerosis and recently diagnosed with dementure. He was quite independant and didn't like people doing things for him eg: personal care. He can't walk and needs a wheelchair. The staff have been patient with him explaining to him what they are going to do and why. He has learned to accept help and gets on well with staff. The food is excellent and he enjoys his meals. All the staff are friendly towards him.

My sister is well cared for. Her medical needs are attended to 24/7. Her needs are complex and due to her dementia and associated illnesses she is totally dependent upon the staff for all of her needs.

Staff are approachable and supportive not only for my sister's care but also of me which is comforting while being responsible for a relative with dementia

My mum is a service user at the Brunswick. She has made lovely relationships with the carers and other residents. The Brunswick team are highly qualified, friendly, empathetic and very welcoming. My mum enjoys all the activities that are on offer and enjoys her day trips out having fun and socialising. They are also very proactive in encouraging my mum's independence and mental capacity. I am very pleased with the care my mum receives at the Brunswick.

Mum has been a resident of Brooklands for just over a year now. She's had a couple of tricky moments with her mobility and confusion, but the whole team are there for her, to care, and give her the best life possible. Watching Mum participate in the activities Elaine organises, warms my heart, Mum has always been a 'pack animal' loves company, and a sing-song. Best decision ever!
