Since being here at Dovehaven my grandma hasn't had one UTI, yet in her last care home she was getting them every other month. Gran is well cared for despite her frailty. She has no pressure sores. Nothing is too much trouble for the care team, the hostess and the manager. The male staff are so kind
and respectful on Acorn and Linda is an amazing kind hostess. Sharon looks after grans needs, Demi and the other staff are person centred with regards to their approach.
Reply from Daisy Edmondson, Marketing Executive at Dovehaven LodgeThank you so much for your kind words. We're so pleased to hear that your gran is receiving such thoughtful, person-centred care and that our team's efforts are making a positive difference.

My father-in-law was looked after very well at this care home. All his needs were met. Staff were all very helpful and approachable towards dads needs, very compassionate. Also the nurses and the doctors provided excellent medical care for dad with dignity. The reception staff were very friendly and
provided good assistance at all times.

Friendly, attentive, professional care in often challenging environments. Visiting mum is emotional and usually upsetting yet the staff show empathy to me in addition to mum. Impressive and consistent.

After three years in the Beech Unit, my wife has moved to Rowan. In the three years, we witnessed nothing but kindness from the staff. They were always caring and interested in her welfare and looked after her every need. They were also interested in our family and kept us up to date. She has moved
because she needed a quieter atmosphere. She certainly seems to be calmer.
Reply from Daisy Edmondson, Marketing Executive at Dovehaven LodgeThank you for your kind words and thoughtful review. We're truly grateful for your recognition of the care and dedication our team provides. Its wonderful to hear that your wife felt supported and cared for during her time at Beech unit and that her transition to Rowan has brought her comfort and calmness. We will ensure your feedback is shared with our staff, as it means a great deal to know their hard work and compassion are appreciated.

When my mother-in-law came to Dovehaven Lodge, I was very concerned how she would cope with the move. However one staff member in particular and her team have been wonderful. She is well cared for, and helped with her meals. The staff are polite and welcoming. I would recommend this care home to other
people.

I find most staff go to great lengths for my mam from domestics to office staff. I have a few issues with the laundry staff or rather the way some things are washed and how they are put away. Yes in the grand scheme of things my mam is well looked after safe, warm, well fed and above all cared for.

I think my mum is as settled as she ever will be. However, there are always different staff that aren't quite as caring as the regular staff. I take my mum cappuccinos and find depending on who is working, depends on whether she gets any. The food doesn't look as good as it was either.

Basically I can sleep at night knowing mum is in the best care I could wish for - after a few years of constant anxiety when she was living at home with visiting carers. Additionally, it was her wish to come into care here, due in no small part to the excellent (loving!!) care you guys gave my dad before
his death in 2016. I speak for the whole family when I say thanks to you all.

There appears to be very little stimulation or activity for residents in the Rowan unit. Residents sitting in the lounge looked bored - no TV, music or interaction with each other. The staff looked tired and bored. The room smelt awful and the bedding was soiled. I was disappointed in what I saw. Lunch
looked less than appetising - pudding always seems to be rice pudding!

The care home is all ground floor. Corridors are wide and airy with handrails provided. Fire and evacuations are excellent. Management and staff are very good accessible and caring. Treating residents with great dignity. All the equipment is at hand for example baths, showers, hoists etc. Rooms are
and all the home is clean to a high standard. Lots of various activities are laid on and food is excellent and varied. My wife is very happy to stay there and I visit every day.

The home is warm and welcoming to everyone who comes. The staff are very good and look after the people well. The food needs to be warmer as it's always cold. My mum says the food is not good. I feel this needs looking into. I find the photos that are taken make the room look nice and welcoming to everyone.
Keep up the good work. The place needs more staff only two on duty this is not good.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.121)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.121) out of 10 for Dovehaven Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.396 for Dovehaven Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (113 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 182 Ratings = 4.396
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.725 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dovehaven Lodge is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 14 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
