When my husband needed full time care we had a list of care homes to see. Fairfield being the closest to home we decided to view first. We arrived unannounced and were really happy with our tour. We didn't go anywhere else. The home was lovely. Friendly wonderful staff who are very caring. He has improved
so much since being there and is so much safer than at home. He has plenty of interaction and entertainment. We are very happy with his care.

The staff and carers at Fairfield are excellent. I couldn't ask for anymore when I comes to the care of my mum. The entertainment is excellent and no-one is left out. All needs are catered for.

My mum has only been at Fairfield Nursing Home for two weeks, with late-stage dementia, but I am so glad I picked this home for her. All the staff are so lovely and caring to her and she is very well looked after. Her room is cosy, very clean and has a T.V. The food is excellent. Mum is checked regularly
throughout the day and night. She is kept clean and comfortable. Couldn't have wished for better care for my mum.

My father was only at Fairfield for a short period - around a month - but the care and attention he received was first class. All the staff are very professional and sympathetic yet extremely friendly too.

I was initially anxious of the thought of my late grandad moving to a nursing home. When he arrived, I knew instantly that this was going to be a perfect place for his final residence.
The staff immediately made my grandad feel extremely welcome and I could tell that they had instantly begun to build
a rapport with him and us as his family.
The care he received was second to none. His stay was only short but in that time the staff made him and us feel like we had been there for many years. The Care Assistants really are a credit to the home and they make sure each and every resident are looked after to the best of their ability. It goes without saying that Fairfield will always hold a special place in my heart and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care and compassion you gave to my Grandad and my family. Your Activities Coordinator is also a very special person. She works tirelessly with the residents - also a credit to the home. Thank you to all the staff.

The home is understaffed. The staff are constantly changing, confusing for my Mum. The staff on duty have so much to do.
The food could be better. By the time my mother's food arrives it is lukewarm. Mum needs help to eat but doesn't get it. The buzzer for her room is not in reach for her most of
the time. I am her sole visitor and it would be great if there were other parties involved to visit.
Reply from Amanda Fitzpatrick, Manager at Fairfield Nursing Home

This is a very disappointing review for a resident who has been with us a long time. Unfortunately, we are only able to do what the person wants, we cannot force interaction if they refuse to be involved. Assistance is offered but again we can only help as the person allows. I am available to discuss issues, and can always come to the home if required out of my normal hours.

Fairfield is such a special place. The high quality of nursing care is given in a family setting. The Care Assistants just go the extra mile to ensure that the residents needs are provided. My mum has been encouraged into the lounge and dining room and has joined in the activities. She is very happy.

My aunt had to go into a nursing home due to very ill health. I choose Fairfield as it has an excellent reputation on the Wirral. My aunt was treated like a V.I.P (her words) during her time there. My aunt passed away whilst there and the staff and management were so very kind.

My father recently had a short stay at Fairfield Nursing Home. He was very ill & was there less than a month before his death. As a family, we didn't know what to expect after his discharge from hospital & knew he was ailing rapidly. The staff at Fairfield were universally friendly, fun & pragmatic.
And we went as a family from feeling very anxious about how dad would fare & be cared for in his final weeks in a home, to feeling very grateful that he had come to a place where he was treated so well, with kindness & alacrity at all times - and at a point when caring for him at home may have been very harrowing.
Moreover, & particularly telling, was the care extended to my mum (and other family and friends) when visiting. I always left feeling the whole family were being looked after, and the compassion & flexibility shown as dad was dying was fantastic - even when we probably overstayed our welcome! I would highly recommend Fairfield, based on our short term but very positive experience.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.139)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.139) out of 10 for Fairfield Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.389 for Fairfield Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (14 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.389
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairfield Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
