I visit my sister regularly and always find the home clean, and the staff are lovely and caring. My sister is cared for very well and is very happy living at the Grange. The new manager is very approachable and always keeps me up to date when necessary.

Covid obviously had an impact, but my dear friend of 20 or so years was in a small room at the end of an upstairs corridor. No one was passing. She was frail but very outgoing and loved people. She became very unhappy and wouldn't eat her food which was sloppy and pureed. She wanted to be moved and
was transferred to another nursing home. She has a small room that looks out onto the garden. People passing and her food, though soft, is presented in an appetising way. She is eating better and has gained weight. The issues she had at Grange have been resolved. She is brighter, and happier and we who love her are so relieved.

My mother was moved from the hospital to this home in August 21. She was 96 and blind. The room was small and never a chair for visitors. I can only describe the home as old and rundown. No maintenance outside. Very often cigarette ash on steps outside is very rarely brushed away. Slapdash system of
signing in. Very often no temp was taken and walking upstairs didn’t seem any control. During the few lockdowns would ring up but not always got a callback. Every item of my mother’s clothing was labeled incl all her socks. Bought several throws but she never had her own around her.
My mother passed away in April as they were still in lockdown was told via a phone call. I have to this day not had any contact with the home. They didn’t contact me regarding her clothes and a small radio. I wrote to them recently advising them to keep her things and donate the radio.
I would point out that the carers and nursing staff always seemed to care for my mother. Can’t say the same for management!

My mother was in Grange nursing home for some weeks. Mum is 91 years old and struggling with severe mobility issues. Some nursing staff were kind and tried to help and care for mum. Other staff were at times harsh and one particular member of staff said to mum that nobody liked her, which is so unprofessional.
Mum was in a small often cold room without an ensuite. She needed help to use the commode which was often full; and at times would literally be sitting in her own urine, which caused a severe infection, and had to go into hospital. Mum would often push the buzzer and would have to wait for long periods of time before anyone came to help. When the staff did come some would say "You're not the only one needing help" telling mum how short-staffed the home was. The food wasn't suitable either and mum often experienced diarrhoea because they gave her too many laxatives rather than a suitable diet to prevent constipation. I am now relieved she is no longer there.

My Mother-in-Law is in the home now. Her very small room has no ensuite and this week she had to endure sitting in her own urine on the commode. She regularly presses the buzzer for help but help takes ages to come and often does not come. She is desperately unhappy, sometimes gets shouted at by carers,
and has been told by one of them that nobody likes her. Every failure, in the home, is excused by there not being enough staff, which I'm sure is true, but is not good enough. My Mother-in-Law is in utter despair, frightened and desperate. Some staff is kind to her but many are not. As a family, we feel that to complain too much will invite retribution and vindictiveness.

The Grange is very run down and there are issues with service failures - for example, downstairs shower not working for months; lift out of action, drinks rounds missed. There is no complaints procedure so even if you make a complaint nothing is done. Emails aren't replied to and telephone calls are
not returned.

The manager at this care home verbally attacked my little sister who struggles with her mental health. He continued the abuse towards my mum. He shouted at them outside the care home, grumbled as they walked past him, and then continued to shout as they entered my Dad’s room. My sister lay across my
Dad crying for the remaining time of the visit. The rest of the staff seemed okay but the buzzer was regularly left unanswered due to lack of staffing. There were a few incidents where Dad was left in his own excrement for hours, his dietary needs were neglected and he was not supported in line with his care plan. We have reported the manager to CQC and to the local council who fund the care home. It’s such a shame how one rude, ignorant and aggressive man can bring down an entire service based around care. Luckily once we had my Dad moved out and into another care home nearby he began making significant progress. Please look beyond the nice pictures and avoid the manager at all costs.

How I wish my Dad had moved to The Grange earlier. He was only there for a few months but the care he received was excellent. The staff were kind and caring. The nursing staff were excellent and kept me up to date. Dad loved the food which was tasty and varied. Although there for a short time the staff
made him feel at home and were always welcoming. This is a great home and as a nurse myself with over 40 years of experience, I can only speak highly of the kindness and care shown to my Dad in the last months of his life. The nursing staff were very professional and knowledgeable and spot-on when continually observing my Dads levels of comfort. All staff interacted with him throughout the day and he was happy and settled. They were so flexible with visiting as I work away yet adhered to all Covid protocols. The admin staff were fab too and were welcoming. Dad was too poorly for activities but I saw other residents going out. I have no hesitation in my recommendations.

I can not thank the Grange enough for the outstanding care my grandad received from them. I was worried as he had been on respite somewhere else and had become very poorly. I didn’t have to worry they went above and beyond to settle my grandad quickly and gave him fantastic care. I couldn’t have hoped
for him to be in better hands they treated him like family. Thank you for everything you have done for him.

Mum stayed at The Grange for respite last year and enjoyed it very much, so when we arranged for another stay this month, she was quite happy about going. We had a lovely welcome from the manager and staff, coming out to meet us on arrival. They actually remembered Mum from her stay almost nine months
ago, so that was a good start, made Mum feel happy and comfortable as I passed her over. Obviously, because of the pandemic situation at the moment, Mum wasn’t allowed any visitors during her stay, but we were able to call her and speak on the telephone which was reassuring when she said she was enjoying herself.
On her last day, she was obviously happy to see me and said her goodbyes to a few of the staff who had come out to say their farewells, she assured them she would be back, possibly next week!
I would highly recommend The Grange and can’t express how satisfying it is to know that Mum is happy in her respite and is receiving first class care from committed carers.

The care team here did everything possible to help Mum settle in. It means so much to me to see her so happy and content. In the first few weeks, Mum started to put on weight and looking much healthier. We were lucky to be offered a ground floor, garden facing room, and we thank the management for accommodating.

The manger and carers have been absolutely amazing, have gone well and beyond what was expected. We will forever feel grateful to these outstanding individuals.
I only wish mum would have lived longer to enjoy the care. Mum was sociable even in her deteriorated condition and would have loved getting

The Grange was a comfortable, secure environment for my aged mother. The staff were reliable, friendly and really looked after her and in turn me too.
As it turns out, they were more diligent than the medical services and went beyond what could be expected for care workers. Since I have only one mum
and it was our first experience of a care home neither of us knew what to expect, however, they were very experienced and helped us enormously. I know that, despite my mum's grave misgivings upon leaving her lovely flat, she actually needed the care of a trained and conscientious team. The Grange in Heswall achieved this. I can thoroughly recommend them to anyone who needs a loved one to be cared for.

My husband has been a resident at The Grange for 2 years. During that time he has been exceptionally well cared for, treated with warmth and dignity. He is always well dressed and his personal needs well met. The staff are unfailingly caring, friendly and professional in their dealings with my husband,
myself and my family.

Very friendly and homely atmosphere. Staff are kind and helpful and very good with the patients. Lots of lovely things arranged for the patients. All in all, extremely good.


The only problem is getting through on the phone and getting in at the main door.

The best care home, providing an amazing family feel. My father aged 47 lived at the home for just over two months due to terminal brain cancer. Any wish he had was met in the home whether it was his room, or his food etc. All the carers were like friends to him, especially two carers and the manager.
All residents are friendly. Couldn't praise this home anymore, they catered for my dad as he was so young compared to normal residents. Lovely place and will continue to call in when passing although my dad is no longer alive. 100% recommend!!

I have been a regular visitor at the Grange over the space of the last two years as my very close friend has resided here.
I note a previous reviewer mentioned communal areas have aged and a cosmetic upgrade would be more inviting.
I would comment in return; "don't judge a book by its cover".
The
room I visit is nice, the staff and management work very, very hard. They have achieved and can pride themselves with an esteemed level of dignified care. The home also offers stimulating activities and very good food.
I would also add, the staff have always been welcoming and approachable.

I can only praise all the staff who are so caring, compassionate and kind to my wife.
My wife is very settled and happy in the home, despite wishing she was home. I know that she is being dignified, cared for and loved by everyone. This is very comforting to me.
The only thing I would pick up on is,
parts of the communal areas at the home, in my opinion, would look brighter after a cosmetic upgrade, although in defence, it is always tidy and smells pleasant.
On my wife's behalf, I'd like to thank all the staff and some exceptional fellow residents for making her settled and relaxed.

We have so far been very impressed by the care provided. The team are very welcoming and friendly. Nothing is ever a bother or too much to ask. One particular nurse visits every day to read a daily article that she knows my mum enjoys.

Mum simply loved the care team. She'd robotically repeat how grateful she is the way she was looked after. I, at time, would tease Mum that she spoke about the care staff more than she spoke about me!!
