My husband has only been in a short while but has settled in well to Winsford Grange Home. The staff are very caring and he is being well looked after (his words). He can't walk but is regularly looked after by excellent care and good activities - music/films/TV/jigsaws/nice cakes or treats!

My 90-year-old father who has vascular dementia has been a resident of Winsford Grange for over 2 years. He is usually relaxed and content and I attribute this to the staff. They are all very kind and caring, treat my father with dignity and respect and have established a great rapport with him. Sometimes,
there can be a shortage of staff and then I find the last of supervision a real concern as my father has experienced falls whilst trying to get up unaided. With regard to the management, I understand there has been a high turnover, I find this a concern as it could underline the continuity, stability and morale of the home. I would especially like to comment on the cleanliness of Winsford Grange. I think this aspect is extremely important and often goes unrecognised. The premises are always clean and fresh and the staff responsible really do an outstanding job.

Would be better if consistent staff. Sometimes better than others, depends on the staff.

Every time I visit the home to see my father, the home is spotlessly clean and provides a pleasant atmosphere.
The staff are all very friendly and patient.
I know they certainly take care of my father and his needs. I feel he is always safe and secure in the home.

The home is very good, comfortable, clean and the food generally is very good. My husband is very well cared for and loved. He is treated with respect and dignity. There are not enough activities to keep the residents occupied. All of the permanent staff are wonderful treating the residents with all
the love and care that they deserve. My only complaint is lack of staff, there is not enough permanent staff to do the jobs.

My mother has been in this care home for 5 weeks, she has a very comfy room. The care staff are very helpful to my mother and to myself.
She had a weekly visit from the doctor and if not feeling too well, is rechecked by nurse or doctor.
Food is very good and plentiful.
The care staff and nurse are
very caring to my mother who is 94 years old.

I have found (that compared) to other residential homes this far out does others that I have been to and I have had relatives in other places which are far inferior to Winsford Grange. I've also had my father in who was in a temporary care home. So, in my opinion, Winsford Grange out does them all.

My Dad is residing at the above care home and we all, as a family, are extremely happy with the care my Dad receives. My Dad has been a resident here for just under 12 months and we have noticed how settled he is. The staff have shown nothing but kindness and respect towards our Dad and the care have
been excellent.

The care I get is brilliant. All the staff look after me. If I need anything I just ask and they will do it. Nothing is too much for them. They help with my shower, make my bed. If I press the buzzer they come straight away. It is a very good place to come to. Would not go anywhere else.

Great deal of care seems to be taken to make sure all residents are treated with kindness and dignity. It's always a pleasure to visit, as the hall is decorated and welcoming. The care home is very clean and made to be as much like home as is possible ie small sitting bays. As a visitor I am made welcome
and given updates as to my friend's situation.

The care home is wonderful. The staff are amazing. They don't just hold the title of carers, nurses and managers they really do care about every aspect of their job. I could not have chosen a better place for my lovely mum if I'd have searched the four corners of the earth.
The atmosphere is filled
with warmth, care and love - yes love!

My father in law had 2 stints in Winsford Grange, the first was in 2015 for a period of about 5 weeks whilst he was recuperating from hospital treatment. Having heard a lot in the press about nursing homes in general, my wife and I were concerned about the choice we made. We didn't need to worry, the
facility at Winsford Grange is fantastic and we had a good feeling about it the moment we came in. Any home is just bricks and mortar, what makes Winsford Grange special is the nurses and staff who gave our father such wonderful and loving care and played an important role in helping him to return home. Sadly, the next occasion was is later 2016 when our father's condition worsened and he was admitted to Winsford Grange for palliative care and spent his final days in Winsford Grange. He was welcomed back like an old friend and the level of care and support we received from the staff during this difficult time was commendable.
We would without hesitation recommend Winsford Grange to anyone

My father was admitted early September onto the Austen Unit. He has settled really well, all due to the amazing care he has received from all the staff. When visiting we've always been made to feel very welcome.
My only concern now is that dad has to be moved from there because he is in a CHC bed and
he has dementia (will be very unsettled and confused and even distressed). Due to the ratio of carers to residents elsewhere, dad will not receive the same level of care where he has to go (what a system). Can't speak highly enough of the care and devotion he has received on the Austen Unit.

I am writing this review as a thank you to all the unsung hero's that work at the Grange. Dad was only there for two week's before he died but don't think he wanted for anything, having dad so close to home with very open visiting. On my first visit I called to check out the home for a very picky customer,
was greeted at the door and invited in, shown around without any trouble at all. I felt very welcome. One last thing I would like to mention is how clean and fresh smelling The Grange is big. Thanks from me, dad and family and friends xx

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.676)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.676) out of 10 for Winsford Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.393 for Winsford Grange is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.393
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.283 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Winsford Grange is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.583
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
