My dad has been looked after very well. What I like is all the games they do with the residents. I am very happy with my Dads care. Some of the window units need replacing.

Staff are always very helpful and polite and are very approachable. They also managed to get the right funding for my husband. He has dementia and needs a one to one care. I must say they are brilliant with him as he's often very agitated, sometimes aggressive and wondersome, especially at night. If
there are any problems the home will always give me a phone call so I'm always kept informed. I think the staff could interact with him a bit more but I know that depends on his mood. Overall I am very happy wtih the home and care my husband receives.

It would be very easy for me to give a 5 star as the improvements I would suggest would be relatively easily achieved.
The good elements are the staff and the relationship we have with all the staff. I'm sure our father benefits from this.
Our father suffers from dementia and requires 121 care so
he can be very demanding at night so the reassurance of good care is important.
The home is very convenient for days out with great walks along the sea front.
We especially like to use the upstairs family room for games of domino's or to just take in the amazing views.
In respect to how I would want the care home to improve.
1. My father needs hearing aids and too often they are not checked for working order. I would like a more rigorous regime for checking each day.
2. I would like a more formal report for family, a little like a school report. Providing a basic summary of progress, deterioration, additional needs and recommendations that family can use to reflect upon.

Thank you so much for your continued support as always it means a great deal to all of us. With regards to your requested suggestions we will endure to resolve this for you with support from the nursing team. Again thank you for your continued support

I do visit my sister weekly, not always the same day of the week, so I do get a good overall picture of the standard of care, support and activities offered. Management/staff are always available to any of my concerns.
Rooms, facilities and cleanliness I have found to be good. I never visit at meal
times, as this would take away time I spend with her, but I do look at the menu and the choices offered give a well-balanced diet.

Mum has lived at St Alban's since November 2022. She tells me she is very happy at the home.
She likes all the staff and I have seen nothing but positive interactions with Mum and other residents when I visit.
Mum likes the food and loves that she can order special dinners and have guests to eat with
her when she wants.
The activity coordinator keeps residents engaged in meaningful activity and encourages them to develop friendships with other residents.
Most of all, the team really understand Mum and provide care and support that is appropriate and heartfelt. Mum says the people who work there, both day and night, are kind and listen to her.
Mum's complex care and nursing needs are delivered to ensure she is safe and well.
I am so happy Mum got to stay in St Alban's, as she got to stay in the community she has lived in for nearly thirty years. Thank you for the amazing birthday afternoon tea recently, which meant Mum could have a special time with her friends and family.

My 98-year-old aunt was admitted to St Alban's after spending two months in two different hospitals. Prior to her admission, she was mobile with a three-wheeled walking frame. When she arrived at St Alban's she could no longer walk. She was depressed and unhappy. After talking to staff and letting them
know how she was prior to admission to the hospital, they gave her all the assistance, encouragement and care she needed. Within weeks, she was walking with her frame, always with an assistant by her side. They gave her some much-needed confidence in herself. After some months, it was realised that it would not be safe for her to live alme anymore. We moved her to another room with a sea view of a place where she played as a child. She is content and well cared for. She like the staff, enjoys the food and often joins in with entertainment. Her hair is done every couple of weeks, and the chiropodist visits regularly.
When it was her 99th birthday, I was invited to have lunch with her. We had a delicious three-course meal with a glass of sherry!
She is now on her way to her 100th birthday and looking forward to it.

Thanks to the caring and friendly staff my dad has settled in well at St Alban's Nursing Home. Everyone is very welcoming, kind and understanding. Great efforts are made to ensure that my dad's needs are catered for and there is a range of activities on offer to keep him entertained. Unfortunately living
away I cannot visit often, but I am happy to know that he is being looked after very well.

My son was admitted to St Alban's in April 2023 with advanced early-onset dementia. From the start, the staff have been absolutely wonderful with him and, at the same time, so very supportive of our family.
I could not fault anything about the home and could not find words enough to tell how much peace
of mind I now have knowing that my son is, not only well-fed and well cared for, but also that he is treated with love.
The staff are all amazing. Thank you so much, everyone.

It was the hardest decision ever for our family to accept we needed nursing care for my brother and for him to lose his independence and home that he loved. I cannot thank all the staff (across all roles) at St Alban's enough for what they have done since my brother moved in, not only have they made
my brother feel safe, loved and happy, they have made me feel the same too. Settling in to life at the home was very quick, getting to know all the staff and having fun with them. Whilst supporting my brother they are also supporting me and holding me up through this really difficult time. I am welcome in the home whenever I like to see my brother and it feels like my second home, always welcomed with a smile and lots of happy faces when I bring my dog along too. The home is always spotlessly clean and smells the same everyday. The food is amazing and all home cooked. Cups of tea are always offered whenever I want which often comes with a hug if needed.

The most outstanding feature of the care home is the way the staff have worked hard to get to know my mother, taking time to talk to her and appreciate her. This has made all the difference to her every day life. My mother has been in other nursing homes but it is at St Alban's Nursing Home that the
staff fully cater to her needs.

My cousin has lived here for over a year. She was living on her own in Fleetwood for more than thirty years. She is settled and happy, after a period of settling in. She joins in activities, which she is able to do. At ninety-one years old things have changed so much for her and, we are happy to say,
for the better. All the staff are very helpful and we are greeted with a smile, which means a lot.

Review from Bridgette W (Wife of Resident) published on 17 July 2023 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The care home works very hard to facilitate residents' needs. These needs are not only activities of daily living and personal care. They also look at the person's identity and are resourceful and creative to maintain the person's sense of self. This is achieved by their excellent activity co-ordinator
who goes beyond what is expected. This is achieved through recognising the importance of developing a life storybook and actually grading and adapting activities that enable the individual to take part within their abilities.
The care manager is professional and actively involves me in my husband's care, and listens to my suggestions. This is done sensitively as my husband's needs are changing and becoming more complex. I feel my views and suggestions are considered. Thus I still feel part of my husband's care. My only suggestion is to develop the activities further to enhance the resident's lived experience and maintain their quality of life.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.743)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.743) out of 10 for St Alban's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.508 for St Alban's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (31 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.508
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.235 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Alban's Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.8 = 0.735
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
