My lovely dad had been suffering from dementia and was admitted to hospital in February 2023 after a fall, then on to Walton House.
The care he received was great, nothing too much trouble and all the staff were absolutely amazing.
In his final days, all the nurses and care staff were considerate
and caring and treated my dad with the utmost dignity, right up to his leaving this earth at the weekend.
On behalf of my mum, brother and other family members, I would like to say an enormous thank you to all carers at Walton House.
Reply from Janet Harris, Manager at Walton House Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words Lynn, it was a pleasure to look after your dad, take care, and kind regards to all your family.

My mother was in this home for 20 months until her death last week.
The staff have been very professional and caring. My mother always said she was very happy and comfortable there and I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to others.

I cannot thank all of the staff at Walton House Nursing Home enough for the excellent care they provided to my Father In Law. My Father In Law was only a resident for just over a week but he was very comfortable during his stay and was incredibly well looked after and had nothing but compliments for
the staff. The compassion that they showed to all of the family when he passed was lovely and very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend Walton House to anybody.

Our family have been very pleased with all aspects of Mum's Nursing Care, especially during Covid and lockdown. We have been pleased with being able to visit for half-an-hour, once a week with a screen in place, but of course, would like to see Mum every day like we used to.

After having the daunting task of looking at several care homes for my father when he became seriously ill in 2019, I was at my wit's end. Then at last we walked into Walton House and we knew at once that was the place. The staff were so friendly, we could tell immediately that they cared. When in hospital,
my Dad had forgotten how to feed himself, how to hold a cup and had lost seven stone in weight. Nearly two years on and he is amazing. He feeds himself, no problem, he can hold his own cup and has put weight back on. The staff give him loving care and are kind and patient. The manager is always helpful and leads a dedicated team of nurses, carers and support staff who work together and have made such a difference to my Dad's life. When we go to visit he is always dressed well and clean. He always has a smile on his face and his relationship with the staff is lovely to see. I am confident that my Dad his happy, well looked after and loved. Thank You Walton House.
Reply from Janet Harris, Manager at Walton House Nursing HomeHi Elaine, Thank you for your kind words. I agree with you, Dad is very happy in the home and he has settled in well. It has been a difficult year but we have all worked together and it is lovely to see the smile on your dad's face when he sees you in the pod. Take care, hopefully, we will all be together again soon, Janet.

My Mum has been a resident in the home for the last 20 months. She was transferred here from the hospital and placed on end-of-life care. Unbelievably and thankfully, she has done amazingly well thanks to the excellent nursing care provided by the staff. During the most difficult of times, the staff
have continued to do their best, not only for residents but for their loved ones. As a shielder during the pandemic, I have found it distressing not visiting but staff have always been available to speak to, at the end of the phone and provided excellent updates. They also provided zoom calls which were the next best thing to a visit and very much appreciated. I particularly loved the little photo postcard of my mother, which was lovely and unexpected. They have also tried really hard to reassure and boost morale which must have been so difficult. Special.
Reply from Janet Harris, Manager at Walton House Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words, it is a pleasure to look after your mum. We will always do our best, as we know all our residents are precious to someone and you can be assured we will give the residents all the love and care that they deserve. We look forward to the time when we can all be together again. Take care Janet.

We are very impressed with the care, professionalism and skills of Walton House management and care staff. The communication we the family receive especially in these difficult times is excellent. My mother can be difficult to communicate with but the staff have developed a loving trusting relationship
with her and it’s evident every time we visit. It’s been very hard for the family to accept Mum having to be placed in care. But knowing that Mum is being cared for by Walton House really helps the family come to terms with it. Thank you all.

Sadly, my partner had a very bad stroke and it left her paralyzed on one side. She cannot speak and has to be fed through a tube. With all the complications, it was a constant worry, but since she moved into Walton House, life has been a lot better. I've found the staff and nurses to be very helpful
and understanding, my partner is happy. Care staff and nurses take a time-out to talk to her and get her involved in any activities, she's well looked after and they always put my mind at rest knowing she is safe and looked after is a big weight off my mind. Especially during these covid times, all the staff are very kind and polite, my only regret is that I never got her in sooner. It's been a godsend to get her into Walton House, and I would highly recommend this care home.

My mum has lived here for almost two years and I have always been happy with her care. Up until lockdown my dad lived in a different home but visited regularly. Over the summer it has been difficult visiting mum but my dad was completely cut off from her. He has now moved to Walton House to be with
her and is settling well. The staff are lovely and supportive and I am happy knowing my parents are together again. My dad tells me that the food is good too which is always a bonus.

I'm delighted with the care shown to Mum by Walton House throughout the coronavirus pandemic. This has been an incredibly difficult and upsetting time for us all, and it's been very clear to me that despite incredibly challenging circumstances within Walton House, the team there have done absolutely
everything they could to keep Mum and all of the resident's spirits and hopes high. Outstanding care!

My mother had dementia and after a fall (breaking her hip) she was unable to stand. She lived in her bed. The staff at Walton House were kind to her. She was kept clean and comfortable. The staff were also kind and pleasant to me. Thanks to the nurse on night duty who phoned me and allowed me to be
with my mother as she passed away.
Thank you to all staff.

I, like most people looking for a nursing home, didn't arrive at the decision where mum should stay lightly. I found the care my mum received whilst she was in this home to be faultless. Any requests I had regarding the care of mum were undertaken and the carers/staff were eager to oblige in whatever
way they could to make mum as comfortable as possible. I was allowed/encouraged to take mums personnel items in for her which in her short stay there were much appreciated. You can visit as often as you wish and at any time which was a blessing. I felt that all the people at Walton House actually cared about my mum that she wasn't just a resident. I also found there to be plenty of staff always on duty.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone - my only regret is that I didn't get mum in there earlier.

My mother in law has been treated like the carers own mother. Staff have been gentle, kind, social and my mother in law enjoyed the films, singing songs around the piano and the many themed days and shows.
Our family have been made very welcome and always been offered tea, coffee etc.
We have been
shown so much kindness and support during her stay and final days when nothing was too much to ask for. We were extremely grateful and will never forget the tender care that she received which allowed us to have total confidence that all her needs were met.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.653)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.653) out of 10 for Walton House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Walton House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (149 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 178 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Walton House Nursing Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
