My father is very well looked after at this nursing home, and as a family, we are incredibly grateful for the care and support he receives every day. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and professional. They take the time to speak to us and keep us informed, which is very reassuring. The environment
is always warm and clean, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. He is well cared for and we are extremely thankful for the dedication and hard work of everyone there. We would highly recommend this nursing home to other families.

My mum has been staying at Walton House for around 14 months while she needed nursing care during cancer treatment. The care she has had here has been of the very highest standard, all the staff have been fantastic with her. She has been treated with dignity, the highest levels of compassion and care
of all times. I cannot speak highly enough everyone at the nursing home.

My mum has been a resident at Walton House for just over 2 years and we cannot fault the home. All the staff are lovely and the care she receives is second to none, always treated with respect and dignity and everyone is super friendly too. When visiting we are made to feel welcome no matter what time
of day and staff are always on hand should we have any questions. Would not hesitate in recommending Walton House to anyone looking for a nursing home.

My lovely Mum needed Nursing Home care after multiple strokes. We felt so lucky to find Walton House. Mum was transferred from hospital at the end of Dec 2024 to a lovely room. My sister and I were able to make it like home for her and put up Xmas decs. From day one, all staff were so kind and caring
to Mum and to all of our family. In the last few weeks of Mum's life during Jan 2025, I used to wake up at 3am and want to be with her, so went to Walton House to hold her hand. I'd be sitting with Mum and a cup of tea would appear next to me! There would always be hugs and kind words. I saw the care for my Mum and the other residents across 24 hours; it was always exceptional. Compassion, dignity, care and professionalism were demonstrated by all the nurses, carers, catering staff, cleaning staff, laundry staff, the activities lady. Its such a big and scary decision to select the best care for loved ones. On meeting the Manager and looking round we knew it would be perfect for Mum

My wife was in Walton House for just over a year with dementia following a stroke and two weeks in hospital. I attended the home on a daily basis and can say that they always treated my wife with compassion and dignity. The staff are a really nice, committed, friendly bunch of ladies and gents who form
a really good strong bonded team and are a credit to the management and Walton House. Thanks to you for an amazing job in caring for my wife and making me and the family feel so welcome.

A massive thank you to every single member of staff at Walton House Care Home. My father was admitted to this care home due to the prognosis for end-of-life care. He stayed there for 3 weeks, sadly he passed away on 8th December 2024.
From the day he was admitted, they treated Dad with love and kindness,
nothing was any trouble at all for them. He was made very comfortable. They were always on hand when you needed them. Visitors and family members were also very well treated and I could not have asked for anymore from them in Dad's latter days.
The rooms were warm and comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent and even the family members of the residents were offered beverages/biscuits.
I would highly recommend this home and feel it deserves a 5-star rating.

We would like to sincerely thank the manager and her team of staff. They provided our beloved Mum with absolutely outstanding care from her checking into the Nursing Home on 13th August 2024 to her passing away on 14th September 2024. They treated Mum with love, kindness, dignity and respect and nothing
was too much trouble. Very sadly, Mum was unable to go back to her own home, but Walton House was truly the very best alternative. We would also like to add our thanks for the care and support they provided for my sister and me. We couldn't have got through the traumatic time safely without them. We would like to give a special mention to one staff member in particular, who was an Angel of Mercy and guided us through Mum's final moments and the hours afterwards with everything that needed to take place. We highly recommend Walton House Nursing Home and we feel it should have an 'Excellent' rating rather than 'Good'.
Reply from Janet Harris, Manager at Walton House Nursing HomeThank you Anne for your kind comments, at Walton House we always strive to deliver a high standard of care to our residents. Thank you for allowing us to care for your mum in her final weeks. Your mum was a lovely lady who will be missed. At Walton House we offer support to all our families at this difficult time. It was lovely to meet you both, take care, we are always here if you need us, the manager and all the staff at Walton House.

I stayed at Walton House after leaving the hospital while waiting for a place at a rehab unit, I was very happy there. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly.
I enjoyed being able to sit out in the garden which made a significant contribution to my recovery.
Having been on a feeding tube for
several weeks, my appetite picked up immediately with the excellent food on offer and I steadily put on weight and gained strength.
The carers were always conscientious and responsive and the nursing staff was very professional. I felt listened to and respected which is really important to me.
I would not hesitate to recommend Walton House to anyone looking for quality care.

Our mum/nan was recently moved to Walton House as part of end-of-life care. The care and compassion shown by all of the staff were fantastic from the minute she arrived to the day she passed away. Nothing was too much for the staff, they were friendly, caring, compassionate, and professional. Our mum/nan
only had a short 4-day stay at the home, but we couldn’t have asked for any more from the staff, and this is echoed through my family. They gave Nan the dignity she deserved.

My 94-year-old mum, who has dementia had a fall and broke her hip, the hospital informed me how ill she was and that she would need nursing care, which was in January this year. I am so thankful to have found Walton House, from the moment I spoke with the manager and visited the home, I felt this would
be a good place for my mum to be in. The entire team of staff make you feel so welcome, they are professional and caring, and the home has a warm and friendly atmosphere. I am very happy with the care my mum receives and I am grateful to all the staff who care for her, I know some days she can be a challenge.

I definitely recommend Walton House to those needing a nursing home for their loved one.

Mum has settled into the home now and seems so much happier than she was at home after dad passed away. After having a stroke and being diagnosed with dementia, it was essential that she should be given 24-hour care. Her anxieties have all but disappeared and she is really enjoying the company and always
compliments the staff.

I would be more than happy to recommend Walton House. We can visit unannounced at any time apart from mealtimes. We have just received a newsletter with lots of photos of activities from the past few weeks. It was so nice to see mum smiling and joining in the fun.

My father became ill and we were advised by a health professional that Walton House would be a very good choice and most suitable for his needs! We were grateful for the advice as it can be a very unnerving time placing your loved one in the hands of strangers. Well no more! Strangers that are not!
Everyone is so lovely, kind and friendly and we are fully informed of changes to medication or dietary needs which is very reassuring. My father's clothes are kept clean and fresh and he is happy to be involved with all activities the activities organiser offers from having outside entertainers, games, quizzes and baking. Doing such things was important for us in confirming our choice of home as I know just how much my father would benefit and appreciate the stimulation of socialising. I have never ever had any doubt about Walton House. Thanks to management, nurses, carers and all other staff we heartily give our thanks and appreciation for all their hard work and dedication.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.653)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.653) out of 10 for Walton House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Walton House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (149 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 178 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Walton House Nursing Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
