I was in Hospital , unable to walk, when the manager of Bankfield carehome came to see me.I was impressed by this well presented, well spoken man,who took time to talk with me .Within a few days,I was transferred to Banksfield, and from the moment I arrived,I felt welcomed and well cared for. All of the staff are kind , compassionate , and willing to do their utmost to maintain my dignity and respect ,and help me in so many ways physically and emotionally, that I have come to think of Banksfield as my home with many extended family members! The rooms are very clean, well maintained, and freshly painted, the chef is very good, giving options on the menu, and special requests are gladly received and seen to immediately, and the beautiful little garden is lovingly tended. There is a good library, and an extremely good entertainment lady who is full of life.I couldn't have wished for a better care home to have been accepted into.

As our father-in-law's needs have changed and he now requires end-of-life care, the support from Banksfield has been nothing short of outstanding.
During this difficult and emotional time, every member of staff has shown incredible kindness, compassion, dignity, and respect towards him and our family. They have taken the time to get to know his needs, wishes, and routines, ensuring he remains comfortable, safe, and cared for at all times.
The care team continually go above and beyond, providing not only excellent clinical care but also emotional support and reassurance. Their warmth, patience, and genuine concern for his wellbeing are evident every day.

Knowing that he is being cared for with such love, professionalism, and dignity gives our family enormous comfort and peace of mind. We are deeply grateful for the ongoing care and support Banksfield continues to provide and cannot thank the staff enough for everything they do.

My Mother was transferred here from another supposedly very good care provider. I have to say the professional intake and the care supplied has been more than our expectations realised after our last experience. She was met with dignity and showed what life is about to participate with others, this is something her previous so called care provider lacked and thought leaving her alone for days would suffice!!

I cannot recommend this home highly enough they have brought life back in to my mother, they have also regained my faith in the care industry, there are people and companies out there to help people when in need, thank you Banksfield.

On my initial contact with Banksfield they were very helpful and arranged care for my mum promptly. Any request for help during the day has been dealt with such as asking for extra drinks and food. The staff have done an excellent job in caring for mum. I am made to feel welcome on each visit. She has been taken to the lounge area to interact with other people. I know mum has found it difficult to adapt but every effort is being made to make her stay comfortable as possible.

I cannot praise the home or the amazing staff enough, they have been exemplary in every way, they have been kind, caring, supportive both to my Father in law and to us as his family, keeping us up to date, informed and supported in what has been a difficult time. Visited my Aunt at Banksfield Nursing Home today and was pleasantly surprised. As always, the staff are friendly, helpful and most importantly caring towards the residents. I was especially pleased to meet the homes new activities coordinator. She was a lovely breath of sunshine and had so many ideas that she would like to implement for the residents inregards to different activities. I loved that she had residents pictures up and had made a brilliant feelings poster. My aunt is now having difficulty formulating the correct word that she wants to say. The feelings board is clear and simple for the residents to use as a positive form of communication. I look forward to seeing more activities being promoted to help the residents.

I spent a long time looking to get my brother into a care home because I do not live in Preston and he was very sure to keep going at home. But over Christmas, he agreed. The process was stressful, from hospital to locating a care home, but once we found it, everything changed. Banksfield Nursing Home was very helpful from the beginning to the end which, unfortunately, was very short. Admin and manager explained the process and how they operate. The staff seemed happy in their job. We were allowed to bring stuff from home to put in his bedroom and the caretaker put them up without any issues.

My dad was admitted to Banksfield Nursing Home having been discharged from hospital with terminal cancer. In the relatively short time he has been there, he has been extremely well cared for and looked after. He has actually commented to me 'what a really nice place this is'. Logistically, it could not better as my mum still is at home just 2 minutes away. Overall, I could not be happier with the care he is receiving. He is always clean and tidy. Overall impression has been excellent.

Mum's situation is made happier by the wonderful staff. They take time to do the care work but also to sit and talk to her taking interest in the person she is/was.
Mother's unusual food requests are met with helpful suggestions varying an already excellent menu.
All visitors are met with a smiling welcome and hospitality. My 94-year-old father is helped to book his taxis for his travel home. He visits at least 4 times a week.
Her room is bright and cheerful with her own things brought in to make her more comfortable.
Nursing care is ongoing but any extra help with pain relief etc is prompt and efficient.

Mum's stay at Banksfield started on a discharge to assess but has turned out to be serendipitous. A perfect match for her needs and comfort.

Rohan Mathew
Rohan MathewJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

I’m Rohan, the Manager of Banksfield Nursing Home, with over 14 years of experience in Health and Social Care, spanning clinical practice, leadership, and service development. This role marks another meaningful step in my journey to deliver person-centred care and high standards of governance in the sector.

My professional path began in 2008 as a Registered Nurse at one of the world’s leading neuro research hospitals, following the completion of my Honours Degree in Nursing. That foundational experience sparked a deep commitment to clinical excellence and professional development.

A Postgraduate Degree in International Health Management at St. Patrick’s College, London, helped broaden my perspective, allowing me to combine frontline care with a strong understanding of operational leadership. From there, I transitioned into increasingly senior roles within both the NHS and the private sector, including Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager.

At the heart of my leadership philosophy is a belief in compassionate, safe, and responsive care. I take pride in supporting staff development, improving service outcomes, and building trust with residents, families, and external stakeholders alike.

What excites me most about this new role is the opportunity to contribute to the We Care Group’s vision for excellence, delivering care that is not only clinically robust but deeply person-centred. The Group’s emphasis on staff development, innovation, and service improvement aligns perfectly with my own leadership style and aspirations.

Having led services through both challenges and transformation, I look forward to building on the existing strengths at Banksfield, creating a safe, supportive environment where both residents and staff can thrive. My commitment is to uphold the highest standards of governance, care quality, and team engagement, with transparency and compassion at the core of everything we do.
