Berwick House Rest Home

from Beverley W (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother is a resident of Berwick care home, I have always found the staff friendly caring and courteous. I am always kept informed of any changes in care or if my mother has had a fall.
It is a fairly small care home, so care can be tailored on a more individual basis.
I am happy that my mother
is being well cared for

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Visited my Aunt at Banksfield Nursing Home today and was pleasantly surprised. As always, the staff are friendly, helpful and most importantly caring towards the residents. I was especially pleased to meet the homes new activities coordinator. She was a lovely breath of sunshine and had so many ideas
that she would like to implement for the residents inregards to different activities. I loved that she had residents pictures up and had made a brilliant feelings poster. My aunt is now having difficulty formulating the correct word that she wants to say. The feelings board is clear and simple for the residents to use as a positive form of communication. I look forward to seeing more activities being promoted to help the residents.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother only spent a short time at the Dales at the end of her life but it was long enough to form a very favourable impression of the care home. Facilities were clean and well managed despite the challenges presented by the residents. Staff were patient and attentive. Equally the needs of visitors
and family were well catered for. Management were always available and very responsive to questions. I can unreservedly recommend the facility to anybody looking for a quality residence for their loved ones.

Bilton Hall Nursing Home

from Angie H (Next of Kin) published on 8 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My neighbour has been a resident at Bilton Hall since May, after being in hospital for 2 months. At discharge, he was assessed and it was agreed that his care needs had increased, which his previous care home was unable to support.
Bilton Hall was suggested by the Harrogate Hospital discharge team
as an alternative. Not being familiar with it, I called to arrange a viewing and as I was working and unable to get there during my working hours, the Administrator agreed to meet me after her day should have ended which was very much appreciated at short notice.
Once installed, my neighbour settled well, which was a huge relief. At Bilton Hall, he is always treated with respect, patience and kindness by all, right from the domestic staff, up to (and including) the most highly qualified of the Bilton Hall team.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bilton Hall to anyone who is in need of the services they provide.
(No experience of the activities offered as he is unable to participate)
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Bilton Hall Nursing Home

Many thanks for your complimentary review of Bilton Hall. It is so good to know that your experience of finding a care home was so positive. The team work so hard to ensure that our residents are safe, well and settled and it is a testament to their care and support that you are able to provide such a wonderful recommendation and ratings. Kind regards

Woolton Grange Care Home

from J R (Brother-in-law of Resident) published on 1 September 2025

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
On a visit to see my brother in law today i was appalled at the lack of appropriate access for him to have a shower, as his room is on the downstairs floor and the shower room down there was not working. When my wife and I spoke to staff they looked embarrassed at the situation and explained that nobody
used the shower, which is the only one on that floor. They told us the only working shower was on the first floor so I had to explain to my brother in law what he needed to do in order for him to receive his shower , and as he has dementia it is not always easy to redirect him.A female member of staff asked if we needed her assistance to help give personal care but my brother in law was already a little agitated I declined the request. The shower room was of poor standard no towels, no shower curtain and very grubby in appearance. This issue as well as others needs to be addressed ASAP .

Thank you for taking the time to review Woolton Grange. Since receiving the review the Home Manager has made contact to discuss the issues on the day of your visit. The ground floor shower was working when checked , but it appears that the controls are not the easiest to understand. We are sorry that you could not use the appropriate bathroom but were sent to the top floor annex. The home manager has taken on board the need for better communication with families, in situations such as this, and has spoken to the team.

This is my mothers thired care home. Previous homes have proved unable to meet her complex needs. Tudor Bank have been successful. This due to the skill and professionalism of the staff throughout Tudor Bank. Care, compassion and understanding together with the sound, practical application of medical
requirements.

My step father has only been a resident at Sowerby House for the last 3 months. He has settled in without any issues at all and is very content being there. The staff are amazing and very caring- he responds to them very well. The home is very clean and well decorated, his room even though small is
adequate for his needs, overall I'm very impressed with Sowerby House and would recommend to any other family that needed such a facility for a family member.

Bilton Hall Nursing Home

My Dad didn't want to go into a care home. For years he has made us promise we wouldn't do it to him. When he was admitted to hospital, the only way he could leave was to be discharged to a care home. He (and we) were heartbroken as he had been so firm on his decision.
The day before he was discharged
we were able to take his belongings over to set up his room, so that when he moved there were some familiar bits and pieces around.
Straight away the staff made us feel at ease - it was heartwarming to see how much patience and love they had for their residents.
The day after Dad was discharged I went to visit. On entering his room he was chatting to two male nurses about football. They were laughing and joking and this was the first time in a while I had seen my Dad sociable. He was happy - settled - and more importantly, safe. He told me he was living in a 10* hotel. This affirmation was so important to our family. Dad's illness was complicated and passed away the next day, peacefully.

Since my wife and my partner both passed away, I had got used to looking after myself, but after a long stay in hospita,l I was placed in the home and while it has been a shock being looked after, I have to say it's been a pleasant one. All the staff are very helpful and very considerate to my needs,
nothing is too much trouble for them. It has taken me a while to get used to being looked after.

Dad has settled in very well at Douglas Bank. All the staff are friendly, helpful & professional. the premises, lounges, rooms etc are well kept, clean & homely. My reasons for choosing Douglas Bank was because it's less clinical & more homely. I feel happy & reassured knowing Dad is cared for at Douglas

My wife has resided in Tudor Bank Nursing Home for 12 weeks, following a six month hospital stay. Her transition was significantly aided by an initial a two week one-to-one period. The main strength of Tudor Bank is the quality of support provided by the staff and the atmosphere they create both amongst
the residents and themselves. The attention given to all medical matters by the professional and management staff is excellent.
