Barton Brook Care Home

from J D (Sister of Resident) published on 12 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My brother stayed at Barton Brook for 5 weeks restbite care.
His room was clean and comfortable as were all the bathrooms and communal areas.
But the thing that makes Barton brook are it's staff. All were warm, welcoming and super helpful.
What particularly impressed me was the care and patience
they showed the residents who were no longer able to feed or care for themselves. Nothing was too much trouble ! Many thanks to all who cared for my brother.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Broadway Nursing home is a caring, friendly rest home. The thing that makes it special is the staff. They are consistently excellent in their attitude to residents. I have visited my Godmother in for a few years and their dedication to the people in their care shines through. Their job is not easy but
they do it with a smile, humour and genuine care.
Broadway is well kept, fresh and the rooms are a good size. I have often arrived during lunch and it always seems good and varied.
Reply from Davey Taverner, Marketing Manager at Broadway Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to review Broadway so highly. We are so thrilled you are happy with the home and that your Godmother is receiving the best care. Our Team will be delighted to hear your kind words of recognition. We are so appreciative of your feedback and the team will be too. Please come and visit us again soon. Have a lovely day.

Review of

Barton Brook Care Home

from Alex N (Son of Resident) published on 10 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My father lived at Barton Brook Care Home from August 2023 to February 2026. During that time the home was placed into Special Measures (Nov 2023) and later received another poor CQC rating (Dec 2025), which was not proactively shared with families. There were three permanent managers and one temporary
manager in just over two years, alongside significant staff turnover, creating instability and inconsistent communication.
The current manager did not introduce himself to families and was rarely visible, often observed in his office monitoring CCTV rather than engaging with residents or staff. My only interaction with him during my father's transfer was unprofessional; I was told care plans had been sent when they had not.
The home feels tired, with ongoing odour and cleanliness concerns. Food lacked variety; my father developed Type 2 diabetes during his stay, with biscuits routinely offered. Many frontline staff work hard but appear overstretched and unsupported.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Barton Brook Care HomeHow sorry we were to read your review. We take onboard your comments, the team at the home have been made aware.
In such a large service, the manager of each individual 'house' is the consistent 'go to person' for all residents and their families. Each house of around 30 people is equivalent to a small care home, with the manager in a house leading the team to provide excellent care to residents. It is their role to address concerns, regarding any shortcomings. Concerns would be escalated, if they were unable to be resolved. We are sorry your concerns were not heard, when they were raised.
Regarding your points, Barton Brook has 120 team members, within 4 houses; recruitment is an ongoing process. Our registered manager attends each 'Residents and Family' meeting, they are widely advertised. The refurbishment programme has been ongoing in the home for 6 months, in bedrooms and communal areas, and the registered managers door remains open to all staff, families and residents.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Six months since my husband entered Sowerby House it felt like such an ordeal, this being necessary. However the complete staff are to be praised for their care and support. I would have liked to name them. Always welcoming when I visit and providing I ask the right person are willing to answer queries
and worries. It's a pleasure to see the enjoyment residents get from the organised musical activities. A negative would be loss of clothing and personal items. Overall well done.

My sister moved into Barnston Court on 22 January. The staff all ensured they introduced themselves and got to know my sister. They have made her feel welcome and have also been welcoming to me. My sister has settled in well and I have peace of mind knowing she is being well cared for.

Beechcroft

My sister has been at Beechcroft nursing home for over 7 years and I visit her every Monday after 1.30pm when dinner is over, so I cannot review the food served. She has dementia but is always clean and well looked after when I visit. I am very pleased the way the staff and management are looking after
her, they are doing a great job. I can't thank them enough. The home itself is always warm and spotless, with a good friendly atmosphere and very welcoming. Her ensuite bedroom has a hospital type bed and TV reception with other bedroom furniture. I was very lucky to find this home and for the cost I don't think it could be better.

Orchard Care Home

We moved Mum in to Orchard Nursing in early Jan 2026, and have nothing but praise for the home. It's cleaned regularly. Carers always have a smile on their face and always willing to help Mum in anyway she needs. If I was to criticise anything, it would be, it takes a while for the door to be answered,
BUT. I'd rather wait at the door whilst carers are dealing with a residents needs than leaving them to answer the door.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Orchard Care HomeThank you for your 5 * review and positive comments regarding your early experience of the home. We appreciate the feedback. With regards to the front door, yes, the team get to it as fast have they can, in between the care they are providing, so thanks for your patience, should you have to wait. Kind regards

Mum is on Irwell Unit & has been there for 3 years. Both me and my sister find the staff very approachable & willing to listen if we have any concerns. Mum is well cared for both with cleanliness & nutrition. I can't comment on facilities & activities as mum is bedbound and we aren't there at mealtimes
but mum is obviously eating okay.

Woolton Grange Care Home

from Ann G (Niece of Resident) published on 29 January 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My aunt has dementia and has been at Woolton Grange for a couple of months now. She is absolutely thriving there. Every member of staff we have spoken to since she arrived has been welcoming and reassuring and made the difficult transition from her being at home to residential care, as stress-free as
possible.
We love that we can see photos of her on their social media page and that we can call anytime to see how she is doing and have a chat with her.
It feels like a real community whenever we visit, lovely food and alternative choices if she doesn't fancy what is being served that day and always activities going on. The team there sorted out registering her with their local doctor, chiropodist visits and hairdressing as soon as she arrived. My aunt seems so settled and happy and we only wish that she had moved there sooner as she is benefitting so much from the social activities and round the clock care.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Woolton Grange Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time and trouble to review Woolton Grange Care Home, and sharing the experience of a new resident, from a family perspective. Laura and her team work so hard to ensure that all residents are safe, well and happy, which all starts from the very first day a resident arrives at the home. We are so pleased you were able to give such high ratings. Kind regards
