Review of

Orchard Care Home

from Martyn S (Son of Resident) published on 30 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We moved Mum in to Orchard Nursing in early Jan 2026, and have nothing but praise for the home. It's cleaned regularly. Carers always have a smile on their face and always willing to help Mum in anyway she needs. If I was to criticise anything, it would be, it takes a while for the door to be answered,
BUT. I'd rather wait at the door whilst carers are dealing with a residents needs than leaving them to answer the door.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Orchard Care HomeThank you for your 5 * review and positive comments regarding your early experience of the home. We appreciate the feedback. With regards to the front door, yes, the team get to it as fast have they can, in between the care they are providing, so thanks for your patience, should you have to wait. Kind regards

Barton Brook Care Home

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Mum is on Irwell Unit & has been there for 3 years. Both me and my sister find the staff very approachable & willing to listen if we have any concerns. Mum is well cared for both with cleanliness & nutrition. I can't comment on facilities & activities as mum is bedbound and we aren't there at mealtimes
but mum is obviously eating okay.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Barton Brook Care HomeThank you very much for writing a review for Barton Brook. We appreciate your feedback, especially the remarks concerning the care and attention provided by the team, they will be pleased to have been mentioned. Kind regards

Review of

Woolton Grange Care Home

from Ann G (Niece of Resident) published on 29 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My aunt has dementia and has been at Woolton Grange for a couple of months now. She is absolutely thriving there. Every member of staff we have spoken to since she arrived has been welcoming and reassuring and made the difficult transition from her being at home to residential care, as stress-free as
possible.
We love that we can see photos of her on their social media page and that we can call anytime to see how she is doing and have a chat with her.
It feels like a real community whenever we visit, lovely food and alternative choices if she doesn't fancy what is being served that day and always activities going on. The team there sorted out registering her with their local doctor, chiropodist visits and hairdressing as soon as she arrived. My aunt seems so settled and happy and we only wish that she had moved there sooner as she is benefitting so much from the social activities and round the clock care.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Woolton Grange Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time and trouble to review Woolton Grange Care Home, and sharing the experience of a new resident, from a family perspective. Laura and her team work so hard to ensure that all residents are safe, well and happy, which all starts from the very first day a resident arrives at the home. We are so pleased you were able to give such high ratings. Kind regards

Would you please pass on my sincere thanks to everyone involved in my mum's care. I would especially like to acknowledge the excellent and proactive management, the spotless cleanliness of her room, the quality of the food, the kindness and dedication of the carers, the support and friendliness of the
admin staff, and the kindness and support that has also been shown to me.

Since her arrival, the change in Mum has been remarkable. Even just looking at her, she is a different person so happy, relaxed, and comfortable and that is entirely down to the wonderful work of your whole team. It is genuinely appreciated by both of us, and Mum would tell you the same herself if she were able to.

The care she is receiving now is in stark contrast to what she experienced previously, and it is very clear to me that your team truly cares. Please extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.

Daleside Nursing Home

I can't speak highly enough of the staff at Daleside regarding the support they gave to my dad during the short time he was a resident there. As someone who doesn't live close to Daleside, so not able to visit as much as I would like to, it gave me peace of mind to know that he was safe and well looked
after. The staff were always friendly and supportive to dad's needs, and kept me updated regarding his welfare. They were also quick to respond to any feedback or questions. During the past few weeks, when dad was poorly, the support he received was excellent, and it gave me great comfort to know that he was able to pass away peacefully, in a place he regarded as home, supported by the staff he knew and loved.

My sister-in-law has been a resident at Daleside for 3 months. During this time, I have found the staff to be attentive and caring, dealing with my sister-in-law, which can be very difficult to manage due to her condition. They have treated me with compassion and explained ongoing care needs with my
sister-in-law when needed.

All the members of staff are excellent there is not one person that I have any problems with . The home is always clean and tidy and each of the rooms cleaned on a daily basis there are many activities to take part in however I don't very often take part. The food and drinks are under review at the
moment but I have marked down the score as if the two chefs that are still on site were still cooking from fresh which in my view was much better
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Brooklands Care HomeMany thanks for your feedback and ratings, they are appreciated. The feedback you provide could not be better, as you are a resident at the home and able to give your opinion of the care and service you receive. We're pleased to know that you are happy with everything, except the recent changes in the kitchen, but rest assured we are onto this! Kind regards

Abney Low Nursing Home

My mum and other residents love having Walter the dog here. He reminds them of home and provides therapy. They really look forward to seeing him and other animals. The issues I have with this nursing home are organisation, some carers are not attentive to residents' needs and will sit on their phones,
and the main room is far too loud (TV). They need to have gentle background sounds to calm the residents (lower sound). Mum also needs ups instead.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Abney Low Nursing HomeThank you very much for your ratings and comments, your concerns have been raised and passed to the home team. Walter is obviously a valued member of the team! Kind regards

When my mum arrived at Abney Low, she was so happy to meet everyone, but most of all, she met Walter, the manager's English Bulldog. Her face lit up when he was visiting the home.
The residents all love him, their faces light up when he is there. It's so lovely to see, I hope he carries on being the
resident mascot.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Abney Low Nursing HomeMany thanks for your review, Walter certainly seems to be popular! Barton Brook Care Home

There is a very clear lack of funding within the home. This is visual with the staffing levels, the upkeep of the home, activities on offer, training standards and happiness of the residents. Staff lack clear understanding of residents, especially those who have a diagnosis of dementia or other lack
of mental capacity. Activities on offer are the choice of the home and not the residents. The involvement for everybody is very limited.
The rooms of the residents are very outdated and non person centred. The home is very institutionlised. The residents day to day routine is fit around the hours the staff work of the rota system. Most residents will be in bed before 7pm, where this might not always be there choice at heart.
There have been many meetings held in the time my family members has been within the homes care. Not much gets done after these meetings and the home manager doesn't even take minutes via laptop/paper of the meetings to action what has been reported or are concerns.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Barton Brook Care HomeWe wish to respond to your review in the most positive way possible. Firstly, at every Family meeting we have a minute taker, this is not the manager, he chairs the meeting. All are welcome to review any meeting minutes for updates and progress on issues raised.
Regarding bed times, this was an historic concern, and has long since been addressed.
The home provides varied activities and hobbies, including great entertainers. Very recent visitors to the home, including our local authority, have given very positive specific feedback, also recorded on Facebook. If there is any activity you think should be included for the resident you know, please say.
On your visits you will have seen the refurbishment of the home, this will continue into 2026. Should you wish to personalise the room of your loved one, you are welcome to do so.
Lastly, please be reassured that so much is going on in the home to continuously improve all aspect of the care and service provided. Kind regards

I really like the way the home makes every effort to make residents feel at home. I am able to bring my dog over to see my brother as he used to take him for a walk before he was ill. It brings him and other residents some comfort.
