Dad has settled in very well at Douglas Bank. All the staff are friendly, helpful & professional. the premises, lounges, rooms etc are well kept, clean & homely. My reasons for choosing Douglas Bank was because it's less clinical & more homely. I feel happy & reassured knowing Dad is cared for at Douglas
Bank.

My mum has been a resident for nine months. She tells me the staff are lovely, she is happy and comfortable. There has been a significant improvement in the communal rooms and general accommodation following cleaning and redecoration, which has made a big difference to staff, residents and visitors.
The residents are well cared for, enjoy their meal times and mix with each other. The staff are well presented and welcoming, and they support all residents with their individual needs.

My auntie has been a resident for the past 2 months,I find the staff very friendly and helpful but my biggest concern is I feel there is not enough of them for the residents and the level of care they need ,they are always helpful and they do there best under the circumstances, the manager is very
approachable and easy to talk too and feel they are doing there very best to lift the standard of the home , the food is of a reasonable standard I feel more fresh fruit could be available, the rooms are adequate but for personal and dignity reasons i feel they all should be on suite.. the home is satisfactory clean could be of better standard , I feel the home is safely secure, as too value ... i would ask do you feel you are giving the level of care you would expect for your family members for the amount you charge for the service you provide ... i would suggest not...I feel a few small changes could make a big difference to the level of service and care you provid to you residents

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I am really enjoying living at the nursing home and it feels homely and my family enjoy visiting me here as made to feel at home. I have a lot of care requirements and I feel like these needs are met and that I am included in all decision making i.e. choosing clothes, meals and including me in all activities.
The staff treat me with great respect and dignity and wash, dress and feed me. I feel like nothing is too much trouble, as well as my care needs the staff always make sure to have a chat when checking on me.

My dad moved into Douglas Bank in March 2024, it is the third nursing home he has been in, the first two could not cope with his needs. He enjoys his meals, he is always clean and tidy and dressed nicely. His room is always clean as well as the visiting areas. All the staff are friendly and approachable
and nothing is too much trouble. Dad is happy here.

My neighbour seems much more settled here than in the previous car home. I think it's partly due to the staff who stop for a chat with her, cheer her up. The TV is in a good position and not at the end of a long room, as you see in many places. All small things, but they make a difference.

Swansea Terrace

from Karen G (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 May 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Would highly recommend Swansea terrace for Respite care. Father in for 3 weeks in May 2025 while my mother had radiotherapy at Rosemere cancer centre.
1.The nurses and carers friendly and always visible and attentive to all the residents when I visited.
2. The Manager spoke to me on my second
visit to tell me my father had slept well on his first night which was reassuring.
3. Father was encouraged to take part in daily actives daily by activity coordinator and not left in his room throughout his stay.
4. Family able to visit at anytime and pets welcome.
5. All areas were clean and tidy.
6. Witnessed staff giving pressure relief in the sitting room which was good to see.
7.Visited at mealtimes on several occasions which my father enjoyed . Food was appetising and freshly made. Mid afternoon soft fruits providedwith tea and coffee which dad enjoyed.
I'm a retired nurse and was very happy with the care my father received and would use the services again.

I am so happy my Dad is at Hollins Bank, as I found the staff to be amazing, so caring, attentive, listening to queries or concerns and deal with everything in a professional manner. My dad is also content and satisfied to be at Hollins Bank, which is so reassuring after his illness meant he would no

My Mother initially came to the home to have some respite following a period of time in hospital. Since this period ended, we decided to make it a permanent placement, and this is down to how wonderful the staff are. Its hard to beat the care and support given at Berwick House. They are engaging and
attentive to needs of the individual, which i have witnessed first hand with mum. i do think them for the support they give alone with the peace of mind knowing she is safe.

Since Mum moved in, there have been lots of changes, but management is very aware and makes decisions to keep things simple until she settles down.
Mum has hygiene issues, so I hope helpers look after her when in the bathroom and keep her hands clean and nails short. After only a week or so, I can
see lots of caring helpers doing the right thing.
