My neighbour has been a resident at Bilton Hall since May, after being in hospital for 2 months. At discharge, he was assessed and it was agreed that his care needs had increased, which his previous care home was unable to support.
Bilton Hall was suggested by the Harrogate Hospital discharge team
as an alternative. Not being familiar with it, I called to arrange a viewing and as I was working and unable to get there during my working hours, the Administrator agreed to meet me after her day should have ended which was very much appreciated at short notice.
Once installed, my neighbour settled well, which was a huge relief. At Bilton Hall, he is always treated with respect, patience and kindness by all, right from the domestic staff, up to (and including) the most highly qualified of the Bilton Hall team.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bilton Hall to anyone who is in need of the services they provide.
(No experience of the activities offered as he is unable to participate)

My step father has only been a resident at Sowerby House for the last 3 months. He has settled in without any issues at all and is very content being there. The staff are amazing and very caring- he responds to them very well. The home is very clean and well decorated, his room even though small is
adequate for his needs, overall I'm very impressed with Sowerby House and would recommend to any other family that needed such a facility for a family member.

My Dad didn't want to go into a care home. For years he has made us promise we wouldn't do it to him. When he was admitted to hospital, the only way he could leave was to be discharged to a care home. He (and we) were heartbroken as he had been so firm on his decision.
The day before he was discharged
we were able to take his belongings over to set up his room, so that when he moved there were some familiar bits and pieces around.
Straight away the staff made us feel at ease - it was heartwarming to see how much patience and love they had for their residents.
The day after Dad was discharged I went to visit. On entering his room he was chatting to two male nurses about football. They were laughing and joking and this was the first time in a while I had seen my Dad sociable. He was happy - settled - and more importantly, safe. He told me he was living in a 10* hotel. This affirmation was so important to our family. Dad's illness was complicated and passed away the next day, peacefully.

The home has such a welcome feeling! Friendly and helpful staff, nothing is ever a problem. This home has come such a long way over the past couple of years and my mother is very happy! Every resident is encouraged to be involved in activities and really seem to enjoy everything that is on. The home

Since my mum came into Bilton Hall following hospital- the staff have been nothing but supportive and caring towards her. All staff interactions I have seen from care staff, the catering team, domestics, activities and administrators have had a positive impact on both her mental and physical wellbeing.
The wider management team have also been good with her and have stopped to say hello on several occasions.
The food is well presented and spoken highly of.

Personal care was excellent, the staff so kind and considerate.
However I don't know why I was sent there in the first place! I do not have dementia!! Everything is geared up for dementia, so I did not join in with the activities after the 1st week. The only people I had any proper conversations with
were residents visitors. I spent a lot of time on my own in my room watching tv or reading. Food was let down by not being warm enough.

My experience of Bilton Hall is that my husband is being cared for by staff who really care for him. They treat him with kindness and respect. They look after both his physical and mental health needs. Bilton Hall extend their care to his family, making us feel very welcome, valued and less stressed.
His room is well furnished and light and airy. The outside environment is attractive and safe and easily accessable to residents who are accompanied by family, friends or carers. The meals are well cooked plentiful and nicely presented.

Sadly my cousin died in July after 3 years in the care of Bilton Hall.
I found the staff to be very friendly, and approachable and, more importantly, they were kind and caring towards my cousin who always seemed pleased to see staff when they visited her room, despite her problems and being totally
bed-bound. I saw staff interacting with other residents in the public areas and they were always respectful and kind and spoke with good humour, obviously enjoying their work.
I was kept well informed of any issues, and on the occasion of a more serious problem was able to speak to the temporary manager about it.
I always felt the home was clean, none of the stale odours found in some care homes.
In the end, my cousin was well looked after, as I was at this difficult and upsetting time.

The home is shabby and requires refurbishment. Areas often smell although the new managers have improved things somewhat. The gardens and car park areas need tidying up. The staff are pleasant and friendly and kind to the residents but seem to be short in numbers. Agency staff are not the answer. My
resident friend enjoys his cup of tea and piece of cake in the afternoon and says that the food is good. He is contented and well-liked by all the staff who always speak to him.

I have not been a regular visitor to the home. I do know that my cousin was well looked after and loved by the staff. I dealt more with the financial side and I always found the staff so helpful and kind with everything I needed to sort. He has now, sadly, died and at the funeral there were two lovely
