Mum is 80 and needed to be discharged from hospital into a setting where her nursing and care needs arising from a sudden deterioration in her Dementia and Alzheimer's could be properly assessed under the NHS discharge to assess process. As she needed an EMI setting there were few options and we were
under pressure from the hospital to agree to a placement. A desktop review of Banksfield didn't look promising as it is rated as requiring improvement, but as soon as I walked through the door my doubts began to recede. My sister and I agreed to her being discharged to Banksfield and we're very happy with the decision. There is still work to be done at Banksfield and we have seen CQC inspectors on several occasions, but the attitude of all the staff and the senior management team towards providing the best possible care have impressed us and they are working hard to fix the remaining issues. The care mum has received has been excellent, far better than the current CQC rating would suggest.

Not very happy with the care my sister is receiving. She has dementia and is not being well cared for to a good standard. Since March 2020 she has had nearly all clothing and toiletries taken, plus photo frames that reminded her of the family. We are putting names on her belongings but still, things
are being taken. Also, she needs a hairdresser plus a chiropodist. If we had to mark the home out of ten, I'm sorry but it would of be two.

My experience is that the staff are caring and helpful and are really concerned about the wellbeing of the residents. They have a difficult job to do, one that many of us would struggle to do. They deserve our respect and admiration. Some things in any residential home require resources, i.e. money,
to improve. As a society, we need to decide what our priorities are. Residential care should be a priority for the UK government.

A very welcoming care home which made great aunts last month very comfortable. All the staff were very welcoming and had a high priority for patent dignity. They managed to get her out of bed and into the communal room on several occasions which really lifted her spirits we can't thank Banksfield enough
for their support and help through everything. I would highly recommend here to anyone in need of care.

Can't thank the management and staff enough for the care and compassion shown to my aunt during her stay. All her needs were met, her religion was important to her and she saw a priest within 30 minutes of arriving.
The management and staff made us feel welcome at every visit and nothing was too much
trouble.
I would recommend this care home to anybody requiring nursing care, it is well lead with excellent staff.

Our rascally father spent the last six weeks of his life in the wonderful care of the Banksfield staff.
From the outset, it was his home and my brother and I felt that it was ours too.
The staff work very much as a team and nothing was ever a problem.
Latterly, he displayed some challenging behaviour
and this was dealt with compassion.
There was dignity throughout his stay.
I would like to think that if I was ever placed in the situation where I required nursing care that Banksfield is still here.

We would like to say a very big thank you to all of the staff - you are truly wonderful.

My brother who was blind and deaf, was a resident for 18 months at Banksfield, having previously had an appalling experience at another care home .
Thankfully during his time at Banksfield, all staff respected his dignity from the outset. We visited frequently and can confidently say that every aspect
of his care was met. He died in March after superb end of life care at Banksfield care home.

My mother spent the last seven months of her life in Banksfield and was treated with great respect and dignity, especially in the last weeks of her life.
Her carers were superb with her and she was always comfortable in their hands. I take great comfort from the fact she was so well tended during
her last months.

The staff make me feel like a member of their family when I was with my father. Nothing was too much trouble and I was able to concentrate 100% on him with nothing else to concern me. The display of care and compassion was unbelievable.
I was blown away by the way the staff conducted themselves over
a period of days. I left feeling very lucky and privileged to have been able to secure a place for dad at Banksfield. If I had any illness I would jump at the chance to reside here.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Banksfield Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.943 for Banksfield Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (101 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.943
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Banksfield Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

I’m Rohan, the Manager of Banksfield Nursing Home, with over 14 years of experience in Health and Social Care, spanning clinical practice, leadership, and service development. This role marks another meaningful step in my journey to deliver person-centred care and high standards of governance in the sector.

My professional path began in 2008 as a Registered Nurse at one of the world’s leading neuro research hospitals, following the completion of my Honours Degree in Nursing. That foundational experience sparked a deep commitment to clinical excellence and professional development.

A Postgraduate Degree in International Health Management at St. Patrick’s College, London, helped broaden my perspective, allowing me to combine frontline care with a strong understanding of operational leadership. From there, I transitioned into increasingly senior roles within both the NHS and the private sector, including Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager, and Home Manager.

At the heart of my leadership philosophy is a belief in compassionate, safe, and responsive care. I take pride in supporting staff development, improving service outcomes, and building trust with residents, families, and external stakeholders alike.

What excites me most about this new role is the opportunity to contribute to the We Care Group’s vision for excellence, delivering care that is not only clinically robust but deeply person-centred. The Group’s emphasis on staff development, innovation, and service improvement aligns perfectly with my own leadership style and aspirations.

Having led services through both challenges and transformation, I look forward to building on the existing strengths at Banksfield, creating a safe, supportive environment where both residents and staff can thrive. My commitment is to uphold the highest standards of governance, care quality, and team engagement, with transparency and compassion at the core of everything we do.
