My dad has been in Marley Court for 12 months. I could not be happier with the level of care he receives. He relies completely on the staff and his care has been excellent. The staff go above and beyond. My dad always looks clean and smart which I was worried about as he can’t do this himself and he
is a proud man. His clothes are always clean and smell fresh. The care staff are excellent and always have a smile on their face and happy to have a chat when they come into my dad's room or see us in the corridor.
Marley Court itself has a lovely garden to sit out in summer and a 5-minute walk to take my dad in a wheelchair for ice cream and walk to the canal. Inside the home is very clean never have I been into unpleasant smells. There is a good choice of food and plenty of drinks and snacks throughout the day (and probably at night too but I’m not there to see this).
My dad is very hard to please and really didn’t want to go into a care home but even he says he wouldn’t get better.
Reply from Kerry Boylan, Home Manager at Marley Court Nursing & Residential HomeThank you very much for the lovely review. I will make sure I pass this on to the staff, as I know they deserve to hear the lovely feedback.

If your loved one has to have round-the-clock nursing care, it’d be pretty hard to beat Marley Court! Caring, thoughtful, competent staff - some of whom are nothing short of angels.
As a family, we also love the range of activities arranged for the benefit of residents’ mental and physical wellbeing
(both in-house and trips out where possible).
Everyone is really hard-working under often challenging circumstances. Well done to you all!

Mum has been in Marley court for a number of months. Initially, Mum was very poorly needing lots of care. Staff throughout have been amazing showing they have really got to know and understand Mum's needs. The care has been great which is good to see and I feel I can relax a little knowing mum is safe
and well cared for. They know her likes and dislikes and recognise when mum is unwell and know what to do for her. The care team are brilliant with her, often getting smiles from mum when no one else can. The best thing is seeing Mum well looked after and seeing she is happy, thank you.
Reply from Kerry Boylan, manager at Marley Court Nursing & Residential HomeThankyou for the positive feedback, I will pass this on to the staff.

We were happy to get a place here, on 1st inspection it was clean but very tired, needs an update bathrooms, entrance, and outside lighting on the car park. But it didn't smell, which was a plus. It became apparent that it was only good if you feed and move around yourself. We could be sat in the room
with my dad 2-3 hours, no one knew we were there. Not a single visit from staff, cold coffee/tea not drank on a table out of reach, not much use if you are in bed. No help to get up, no chair in your room to use for you.
Sometimes he would drink so much when we helped him, I am convinced he hadn't had a drink for hours.
From the window could see staff on very regular fag breaks. I could name on one hand the caring staff. Unshaven not wearing a full set of PJs as it was easy for them. No dignity. At the end, one nurse told him to stay still, whilst she tried to do something, he had Parkinson's. To add instant they can't find a lot of his clothes, not even a sorry or reply to calls.
Reply from Kerry Boylan, Deputy Manager at Marley Court Nursing & Residential HomeI am sorry you feel this way about the home.
I rely on families to come and see me with any concerns so that I can improve our service and I just wish you had done this so I could have investigated them in an appropriate manner.
I understand you are upset and angry regarding the missing PJ'S. We do however always advise our families on admission to label any clothing so that when it goes to the Laundry they know who to return them to. I was under the impression that we had responded to your complaint, so all I can do is apologise for the miscommunication and this is something I will be looking into to improve our service.
Thank you for your feedback, we rely on this to improve our service.

The care and compassion shown to my dad was exemplary by all members of staff. Dad was moved to Marley Court for the final two weeks of his life and he could not have been anywhere better. Likewise the support given to me was exceptional.
Reply from Kerry Boylan, Manager at Marley Court Nursing & Residential HomeThank you so much, It was a pleasure caring for your dad and I am glad you choose us to look after him and keep him comfortable in his final days. We always put our resident's needs first and the staff are amazing at what they do. Thank you once again and take care.

The end-of-life care for our aunt has been the very best. Our aunt was treated with dignity throughout her stay at Marley Court, and all staff were very attentive to her needs, right to the very end, which meant so much to us. Staff always greeted us warmly, with a ready smile, and nothing seemed too
much trouble for them. Despite the sadness of the situation, we will always remember Marley Court with fond memories.

Marley Court is an amazing place! The staff are fantastic, patient and nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are excellent and the home is so clean and tidy. Mum is so well cared for, has been on many trips out and enjoys all the social interactions that she would never have had with her previous
care arrangements.
I am always welcomed warmly and feel relaxed and at home here. Mum was a very good cook so it is high praise indeed that she thinks the food is excellent.
Reply from Julie Maitland, Home Manager at Marley Court Nursing & Residential HomeThank you for your kind words. I am so glad that we managed to get a place at Marley Court for my grandma. The staff are friendly and helpful and really put in 110% to ensure that the residents are cared for and have fun. They take the time to organise events, trips and activities for the residents and go out of their way to engage
the residents.
I particularly appreciate the regular updates on Social Media. Living in Sheffield means I am not able to visit often, but I am always kept updated with what has been going on and what my grandma has been up to which is such a lovely touch.
I would certainly recommend Marley Court for anyone requiring care.

My Father-In-Law went into Marley Court Nursing & Residential Home from the hospital knowing he may only have a short time to live. We got told 2-3 weeks he ended up living for 10 weeks with end of life care. The staff were brilliant and one carer became the one looking after him the most. This carer
even came to his funeral. As for the management, not too good, one showed hardly any compassion, the other did not even let us know he was in his last hours so we could be there. His daughter had to take the bad news when if they phoned earlier I would have been there for her instead of going to work, that needs addressing.

My dear partner was in Marley Court for about 9 months after a few weeks in hospital. He started as a resident and there were plenty of activities offered to both of us. He then went into nursing care after 3 months and then into palliative care. All the staff were wonderful and encouraging to both
of us. They were all so caring and looked after both our needs and were so kind to me. I felt that we had joined a lovely family at Marley Court. I stayed there several times and was well looked after. My partner was very happy there and so was I. During these incredibly challenging times the staff went over and above in their care of both of us. Thank you all of you.

staff again have been so kind and caring. It is a privilege to spend this time with Mum.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.813)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.813) out of 10 for Marley Court Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Marley Court Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (209 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 256 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marley Court Nursing & Residential Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
