The staff at The Glen are so very friendly and caring. Communication with families is excellent. Patient care is superb, very organised and all staff live by the values and put the patient at the centre of everything. The activities team do a great job and the atmosphere is always up-beat. The home
is kept very clean. I'd recommend to anyone.

I first visited my friend some 18 month ago. His wife was already a resident. My friend died but I made a promise prior to his death that I would continue to visit his wife. She is very content in the care although she can look forward to family member visits and trips out for lunch etc. The staff have
always shown politeness to all concerned.

Staff are very friendly and proffessional. The latest bingo night was very fun and had a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are helpful. I have seen an improvement in my grandmothers mood and attitude and I feel the staff are very welcoming to residents and visitors alike.

There is a lovely atmosphere of warmth and friendship. All the staff show great kindness and care to not only the residents but also their family and visitors. There are plenty of activities to join in with and a good mix of residents to take part. There is always music of some description. The residents
seem to have plenty of snacks, drinks varying whatever the weather. Mum looks settled and content and I can't ask for more than that.

We find The Glen to be very pleasant and are very glad we found it when we did. My mother is more content here than we have seen in a long time. We like the light and airy room and find the staff always welcoming. As a large family, we visit often and are never made to feel like we are in the way. We
find everybody very cheery and my mothers personal care is second to none.

The care provided by The Glen is just what we needed for mum. The staff are friendly and attentive, always happy to help, and deal with any issue promptly + efficiently. Mum enjoys the social activities and has settled in really well. The food isn't always to her liking but this might just be down to
personal preference. Overall The Glen provided a great service. Keep up the good work.

I am sharing my experience as a relative of a resident at The Glen Care Home so that others can make informed decisions.

In my personal experience, there have been ongoing concerns about the standard of care. Prior to the most recent incident, I had already raised issues relating to basic personal

care, room hygiene, and dignity. On one occasion, my mum was left uncovered after personal care with the door open, which I found deeply upsetting and undignified.

The most serious concern happened last week. My mum suffered what was later identified as a serious stroke, leaving her unconscious and unable to communicate. From what I observed and was told, there was a delay of several days before medical attention was sought. This delay was extremely distressing for our family and, in my view, not what I would expect in such circumstances.

I have also found the response from management disappointing. When concerns have been raised, there has been a reluctance to acknowledge responsibility.

Like most people we were unsure about which care home to place my sister when she could no longer stay in hospital but I can honestly say that I cannot speak highly enough about the Glen and their staff. My sister spent 3 months there before sadly passing away. We found everyone to be kind and helpful
during her stay. When it came to my sister's end the staff could not do enough for her and us and she was treated with dignity I would highly recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.503)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.503) out of 10 for The Glen Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.503 for The Glen Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (232 Excellents x 5) + (99 Goods x 4) + (21 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 362 Ratings = 4.503
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Glen Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 registered maximum number of service users is 17, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
