Looking for a home for Mum, I went to visit The Glen Care Home and knew immediately it was the right place.
Bright, clean, airy, and friendly.
Mum settled in quickly and was very happy.
The staff are amazing! From the domestics to management, they are kind and happy, and nothing is too much trouble.
I
found out how amazing the staff were when my mum sadly passed away a few days ago; I spent a lot of time there and stayed overnight.
The staff went above and beyond to love and care for my mum and me! They brought me food and drinks, supported me, comforted me, and reassured me all through the night.
They dealt with Mum with such dignity and respect; they sat with me and cried with me... their love and kindness overwhelmed me... this home is the best! There are always activities to interest the residents and keep them occupied... it was a happy home-from-home for my mum and for me when I visited. I never had to worry or doubt her care! Anyone looking for a great dementia home - go and look around!

I am unable to answer all the options as I have only once, so far, visited our neighbour but was very impressed by the welcome at reception and the staff which brought an extra chair into the room. Everyone of the staff around the home seemed very happy in their work, plus our neighbour said he had
found everyone very pleasant and attentive. I have visited people previously in other care homes and have been quite upset on leaving but not from The Glen Care Home. Thank you.

Happy with most aspects of my partner's care. The only issue is with the decision to put my partner on a pulsed food regime. In my opinion, a more flexible approach would be more suitable for my partner's overall health and well-being.
Reply from Rahi Joshi, Marketing Associate at The Glen Care HomeWe take all feedback very seriously. The concern you have raised will be taken into further consideration and make the necessary changes if required. Our team works hard to ensure our clients are comfortable and their care is our principal priority. We are happy to discuss this over the call with you.

My dad is happy and settled here. He came straight from hospital in May 2021 and the difference in him was amazing. The staff here are kind and friendly to both of us and I feel he's having the best care possible. Thank you!

The new dementia unit is a lovely environment. It is light, spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. Mum's room is of a high standard. An en-suite facility would be the ideal, however, as we have had issues with the copious amounts of toiletries we have had going missing, it would be helpful for staff
who are stretched for time if there was a box/drawer for each resident in the communal bathroom. We have also had issues with clothes being shrunk or damaged in the washing/drying process. The staff are excellent and consistent which is a real achievement.
Reply from Rahi Joshi, Marketing Associate at The Glen Care HomeWe appreciate your kind words for the care your mum is receiving. We take all our feedback seriously. We will investigate the issues raised and take the necessary steps to resolve them. Kind regards, Rahi.

My mum was admitted to the home during lockdown so was a horrendous time for everyone concerned. Mum was very confused, being admitted from hospital, her behaviour was very out of character and her well-being had been compromised. However, my mum is now very happy, well cared for and stimulated. I could
not wish for a better home. The staff all have time and show an interest in not only Mum, but her family as well. What a group of angels that worked so well with Mum in the early days. During her time at The Glen, Mum had a fall, broke her hip and ended up in hospital. The hospital gave up on Mum so I asked for Mum to go back to The Glen asap. 1 week back in the care of the Glen family, Mum had improved so much, due to the good care and love from the staff. So I think it's an amazing home for my mum she is so happy and that is what matters to us. The activities they provide are varied, fun, stimulating and very inclusive so carry on the good work.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.483) out of 10 for The Glen Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.558 for The Glen Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (125 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 197 Ratings = 4.558
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Glen Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 registered maximum number of service users is 17, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
