My Mum moved here following a time in hospital; she is still unwell but has settled into her new home. She was made to feel very welcome - as I was. All of the management, care, nursing, catering, domestic and maintenance staff are very friendly, hard-working and efficient. They keep me very well informed
about her progress. Her room, whilst small, is comfortable and very clean; it is pleasantly decorated and I have been able to add a small number of her personal belongings. Great care is taken to assess and monitor her general health, existing conditions, weight etc. When she was thought to be unwell after arrival her GP was immediately consulted and medication obtained. The staff also encourage her to feel better by helping her get out of bed, dressed and to the very pleasant lounge and dining room; she was very pleased to have a hairdressing appointment which made her feel a lot better about her appearance. I am very satisfied that Mum is both safe and secure there.

Our mother has been extremely well cared for since arriving at the New Thursby. The staff attitude is positive, helpful and professional. There is clear leadership and good management in evidence.
Staff are approachable and always helpful. This would be a good training environment.

Staff at the New Thursby have been brilliant with Mum, who has multiple medical issues, ongoing. I can see first hand these are being managed well and Mum is happy here.
The leadership team are spot on and all the staff are friendly, helpful and available when needed (which is not so common these days).
Mum settled in quickly and we are grateful for how attentive and detail orientated the staff have been and continue to be.

From my initial visit to the home in December 2022 to date I have been continually impressed with all aspects of the New Thursby. Everyone is welcoming and friendly and very attentive to my mum's needs. The home is always clean and smells really nice, especially my mum's room.
Staff are very caring
and responsive to any changes in my mum's well-being and prompt action has always been taken to ensure she is safe and effectively cared for. Staff respect my mum's wishes but always encourage her to participate in activities. In relation to assisting her with her personal care, staff support her with kindness and respect whilst maintaining her dignity, something that is of paramount importance to her. The manager of the home is visible and always has time for a chat, I am kept up to date about my mum face to face, by phone, by letter or copies of reviews held within the team.
I cannot praise this service enough and feel confident that my mum is living in the right home.

My late wife was at the New Thursby for about two years at the end of her life. She suffered from multiple sclerosis and finally became totally paralysed and subject to intermittent medical crisis, generally resulted in a period in hospital. She needed constant attention and help with nearly all aspects
of her life. I was glad for the opportunity to be with her for many hours every day. I was made welcome at all times and if ever I was not there, the staff would ring me if she had a relapse so that I could be with her. The staff were always helpful, caring and supportive. Despite the enormous pressure they were under they were always there when they were needed. This includes not only nurses and carers but also the kitchen and house staff and of course the senior staff. Whenever I left, I felt that I was leaving her in safe hands. I have many happy memories and will visit as soon as I can control my emotions at her death. My thanks to you all.

When my Nan came to the Thursby from another home she was very poorly, dehydrated and malnourished and had a prognosis of a few weeks. Thanks to excellent food and dedicated care she soon put on weight, gained an appetite and amazed everybody in joining in the marvellous entertainment.


My Nan loved

all the staff and it was replicated. My father visited daily and was made welcome, offered refreshments, staff from House Keeping and the care side would pop in for a natter.


I went at different parts of the day/ evening and it was the same. I also took the dog. As my Nan deteriorated her needs changed. They were accommodated for in a change of room so she could access the outside to sit by the beautiful flower baskets and hear the birds sing again. During her last few hours, they were marvellous with us offering comfort, support and just being there. I cannot thank any of them enough for everything they have done. The dignity and love they showed my Nan in the 6 months of her end of life care.
