My mum has been in Oaklands for just over 6 months. The change in her from the previous care home is remarkable. All staff go above and beyond and we are always greeted by the manager when we arrive, she always goes out of her way to see us. We are kept well informed on all of Mum's care. I cannot rate this home enough. A home-from-home.

Our mum was transferred from hospital into Oaklands Care Home in September 23, it was the hardest decision that we have ever had to make as we had been looking after our mum at home. The manager went above and beyond to make sure our mum came into the care home due to some issues with us not living in Lancashire. All the staff looked after our mum so well and also welcomed us whatever time of day we wanted to visit, we could stay for an hour or 4 hours, it wasn't a problem. Any concerns that we had were discussed immediately and a solution given to us. Our mum had a very rare condition but the manager made sure that all staff were familiar with it by printing off paperwork for them to read. We as a family enjoyed 'singing for the brain' and other activities which they provide at Oaklands, there is always something going on. Our mum passed away in February 24 and without the help, knowledge and support from the staff we could not have got through this time.

My mum went into the care home in September 2023, this was not an easy decision but Oaklands staff really looked after Mum and us through a very difficult time in our lives. Mum passed away in February 2024 and Oaklands did everything they could to support us all right up to the very end, we wouldn’t have got through it all without them they were just amazing and Mum really liked all of them.

I found the standard of care at Oaklands exceptional - there were certain staff members who developed deep and meaningful relationships with my mum that continued even when we'd moved her nearer to family.
During her time at Oaklands staff were patient, caring and kind to Mum and to us as a family.

The activities and opportunities offered during her time with you gave Mum a quality of life and when I was visiting we enjoyed joining in music and craft activities together.

Our mother entered residential care in May 2023, but sadly passed away in February 2024. Throughout her time at Oaklands Nursing Home all staff treated our mother with the utmost respect, care and professionalism. Her needs were catered for without question and all staff, from the management team through to the very nice lady who did the laundry, she could not have been in better hands.

My mum is now in her 3rd week at Oaklands. All the staff are fantastic and have made Mum (age 96) feel very welcome. They have tried so hard to let her keep as much independence as possible whilst ensuring her safety. Too many staff to mention personally, but the manager, her assistant and the kitchen manager ensure their teams provide the best care. Thanks to all the staff.

I have found the care at this home to be excellent. It's very clean, tidy and friendly. The food is lovely, and I can leave my dad knowing he is safe and well looked after. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality care in the area.

It is a very difficult and emotional decision to place your mother into a home and it really did take quite some back and forth for a number of years. Ultimately we realised that Oaklands would be the best place for her to provide my mother with the quality of life that she deserves. Around the clock care but with activities, family visits, laughter and great meals and treats. We are very thankful to the Oaklands staff for all that they do.

My father-in-law recently asked to move into a care home after spending a few months in a local hospital. Before this he had been living in sheltered accommodation and has poor eyesight and mobility, with a number of health issues that require nursing care.

My husband and I chose Oaklands because of the warm feeling we experienced when visiting the home and the excellent reputation. Our experience so far has been really positive and the home is kept clean and tidy and feels very homely. There are regular activities for my father in law and he is now happy there.

My mother-in-law was a resident until she passed away last week, and we as a family could not thank the staff enough for the care and attention she was given from her first moving in, to her final days there. If anyone is looking for a care home look no further. And finally we just

want to wish all the staff a big, big thank you for the care and support we received in Mum's final days we couldn't ask for any more.

I cannot possibly rate this nursing home highly enough. Having heard 1st hand from people's experiences and also after reading reviews we decided to place our mum here for end-of-life care and were definitely not disappointed. Oaklands Nursing Home is very well run and we found the staff to be extremely approachable, respectful, caring and positive in every other aspect that you could possibly wish for and we can say without a doubt that Mum couldn't possibly have been better cared for. Firstly we found out through mum's own personal experience how lovely the staff were, and then from our own as sadly the end of her life drew near, when, in all honesty, we just couldn't have had more support or compassion from either the day or night staff. Placing a loved one in someone else's care and trusting them to look after them is definitely one of the hardest most stressful things you have to do, but we can only say how glad we are that we chose Oaklands Nursing Home and also how highly we recommend this nursing home.

This is a wonderfully welcoming care home. My dear friend has been here for a number of years and he is truly looked after. Not only is he able to choose exactly when he would like his breakfast, but he is also able to select what he would like at mealtimes from a broad range. On his birthday when I last visited their kitchen chefs made him whatever cake he wanted and it was just marvellous. Must have taken them ages but nothing is too much trouble. Everyone sang happy birthday to him, his room had just been newly refurbished and the church came to visit for a service after dining and a musical number or two. One day we may all reach the stage that we too may need to go into care. I just hope that I am so lucky to be looked after as well as my friends staying at Oaklands.

The home is clean and tidy, the food very good. Care staff are very attentive and willing to respond to requests to improve the level of care. Visitors are always made to feel welcome and encourage to play a part in the activities of the home. A number of entertainment and wellbeing activities are provided including a weekly church service. There is a family and friends group.

The management are very approachable.

I have had connections with Oaklands Nursing Home for approximately 15 years. My involvement has been two-fold: family and friends became residents and through church visits. I, along with other church members, take a service every 6 weeks on Wednesday afternoons. The staff are amazing, caring, compassionate, understanding and supportive. They provide an excellent level of care for all the residents and their families no matter the situation.

It is a wonderful, happy place and I have every confidence in all the staff. It is well run, efficient and organised. My own sister spent 3 months rehabilitation there after coming out of hospital and I cannot thank the staff enough. They went out of their way to make sure she has the best of everything- as they do for all residents. It has been a privilege to take church services and although now retired, our new pastor and other church members continue to visit. I still keep in touch with everyone involved.

After an agonising discussion with my grandad, Oaklands Nursing Home was the only home in the area which he felt was most suitable, and it was the most highly recommended Nursing Home in the area. Even though he was only in Oaklands a short while before sadly passing away, the outstanding care he received was second to none, all the staff and the manager were fantastic, even the maintenance department were so helpful in putting grandads oversized flat-screen TV up on the wall for him which helped make the room feel more homely to him, we were encouraged to personalise the room for him so we filled it with lots of family photos. The communication was outstanding with regards to my grandads care plan, my family and I cannot praise Oaklands enough.

My Nan asked to go into a home after a few months in hospital. She previously lived in sheltered accommodation and with carers and has a number of health problems and so required nursing. My brothers and I chose Oaklands Care Home because the manager seemed caring and really knowledgeable on what help my Nan was likely to need. The staff seem engaged with the residents and we’ve noticed that there are some improvements being carried out at the home and hope this will benefit our nan and her enjoyment of life in her later years.

I have always felt that the very best quality of care is given in this excellent establishment. It is never nice having to find a care home for someone who used to be so independent although, with the super friendly nurses and choice on offer, I feel that this is a wonderful place for my mother-in-law to be and I feel reassured in knowing how well she is being looked after.

Two of my family have now had the privilege of staying at this fantastic care home. The staff are really friendly and go the extra mile to make sure all needs are met. They genuinely seem to love their jobs and so nice to see them laughing and chatting with the residents. I've even joined Nan for lunch before and their food is delicious - better than I cook at home!

Cara Millar
Cara MillarJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2008

I have worked at Oaklands Nursing Home since 2008 and have worked in all the departments within the home. I found that I got great satisfaction working as a care assistant because I could really get to know our ladies and gentlemen and support them with all their needs. I love seeing our ladies and gentlemen enjoying their life within our home. It’s great to know that I have made a difference and seeing the ladies' and gentlemen’s smiles is heartwarming. Within the last couple of years, I have enjoyed my career development at Oaklands, progressing from a Care Assistant to a Senior Care Assistant and I am now currently the Deputy Manager. I am looking forward to my further development and supporting the service to ensure that we continue to give the excellent service that Oaklands is renowned for.
