The staff are always friendly and caring. The rooms are well designed and nicely decorated. The home is well maintained. Mum loves spending time in the garden in the summer and really enjoys the trips out. This help expands horizons which can get limited with time spent in care. There are also lots of other activities on the site compared to the previous home my mother was in. Mum has more opportunity to choose elements of her own care. I would not hesitate to recommend the Old Rectory to anyone looking for a good friendly caring home for their relative.

As a Chief executive of a local Hospice, I cannot recommend the Old Rectory Nursing Home highly enough. My mother was admitted to hospital after a major stroke in March 2015 and was given 6 months to live. She was transferred to the Old Rectory in June 2015 and they gave my mum a new lease of life. Having looked at a number of nursing homes, my siblings and I know that we made the right decision for my mum which, as a consequence, has been the right decision for us as a family. Although my mum cannot speak or walk, she is engaged fully in life. The routine nature of the care gives my mum security but the varied range of activities enables her to look forward to the future. The staff give her respect, dignity and a purpose. The excellent management team promote patient centred care throughout the home, delivered by all staff. The staff are attentive, caring, enthusiastic and professional. The food is nutritious, varied and tasty. Cleanliness and infection control is extremely high.

Excellent location, lovely setting and grounds. Mother's room is large and homely - great garden views. Staff are very professional, kind, patient, friendly and caring. Mum has a lot of attention. Food is very varied and good home cooked dishes. Activities are varied and often. The atmosphere is homely, friendly and open. I feel very comfortable that my mother is receiving the best care possible. A big thank you to all - your care and service is very much appreciated by me.

Overall Experience
Due to mums deteriorating health we had to move mum from a residential to a nursing home on her release from hospital. We could not have wished for anything better than we have with The Old Rectory. The staff all have the residents care and welfare at the heart of everything they do. EVERY member of the team take time to inform family members how their loved one is doing, feeling, what they've eaten, what they've enjoyed. We were told mum would never get out of bed again and that life expectancy was around 2 months. The team have worked with us all to get mum up, firstly fully supported but now to where mum is supporting herself. This allows mum to be able to mix with other residents and to see what is going on rather than be on her own in her room. Mum is now able to converse with us (every word is valuable, even just acknowledgement that she knows we are there! )

I can not praise or thank the team enough for the quality they have restored to mums time left with us. We hear so many sad stories of poor care that it is really important that we take the time to raise awareness and thank not just good but GREAT nursing care. Thank you all.
