Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:

Moderate Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "moderate dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Worsened memory problems. Not always recognising own family members and friends. Repeating the same questions over and over again
- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness

Verbally or physically aggressive behaviour

Overall Experience
Can’t tell you how amazing the staff are at Galtee More. They are caring, attentive, fun and listen/take note of what the residents need. Galtee More is like home from home and the staff treat residents like their own family. My family member is happy, safe and respected and has improved massively in the last eighteen months because of this.

Overall Experience
My mum has been a resident in this care home for over 4 years and before that attended once or twice a week for day care. My mum is well looked after, the food is excellent and the staff go above and beyond with their residents and the resident’s relatives. My mum was last year on end of life care and they were so attentive to our needs. If you do have a problem the care home manager will sort it straight away and the senior staff do the same. The home always smells clean and fresh and all the residents are happy and content. I cannot thank them enough for the love and care they give my mum.

Overall Experience
Can not fault Galtee More, the staff from cleaning, admin, kitchen, everyone just fantastic. Caring loving treating residents with upmost dignity and respect. My mother has never been the easiest person to care for, suffering alzhimers but she is genuinely loved. The food is fresh everyday and meal varied and healthy. I feel as if we have made some excellent friends of all the staff at Galtee. If ever i have the need to move into residential care, i would hope that there would be a place for me at Galtee More. Fabulous place, no concerns at all whatsoever.

Overall Experience
My nan was placed inside this home after my grandfather had died. She is blind and suffering from other problems that require medication. The staff are great and always welcome us when we arrive to visit.

Overall Experience
Such a lovely place to be, the staff are very welcoming and treat the residents as family. My grandad is very happy living there as there are many activities to do as well as entertainment that comes to the care home, would definitely recommend it.

I think this care home is a really lovely happy friendly place for residents and their families, the staff make everyone feel welcome and I think they go over and beyond to make all families happy, they do lots of activities and events in which families can join in with their loved ones which I think is really lovely and I know I love going to visit and seeing everyone's happy smiling faces, think the staff do a wonderful job such a lovely care home.

My father was at Galtee More for a couple of years until he passed away. I cannot fault the home, it was just the place for Dad. He was often loud and boisterous but they gave as good as they got which is what he needed and was just the correct way to handle him. He loved the staff and got on very well with them and was cared for like family. He loved the food, the place was always clean and tidy (except during activities when glitter could get everywhere) and my dad was always clean and well-loved .
I cannot fault the home. My father passed away a couple of months ago and I have had time to reflect on how lucky we were to find such a caring place for his final years.

I have been extremely impressed with the dedication and level of care delivered by the staff. Care home is the right description for Galtee More. Care is what is given and a home is what it was for my Mum. The standard of cleaning is very good and the food is of a high standard.
It was like going home to visit my Mum and the staff are like family. They have been lovely since Mum passed away.

Mum went into this care home due to Alzheimer's. Never have I ever met such staff. All of them including the cleaners/cooks/admin and more so the carers are truly something special!
They treat all the guests with great dignity and respect. All run by a manager who greets you as a stranger, but you leave as a friend.
Rooms are clean, spacious and have a wardrobe and bedside table. You can bring in personal effects ie TV, phone etc.

Overall Experience
I would recommend Galtee More care home to others looking for good quality care and a warm welcome. My mother had a respite care stay for two weeks and we were pleased with the care she received. The manager and staff show respect and genuine concern for the people in their care. The standards of hygiene and food quality are good and individual needs are catered for well.
