St Mary’s Nursing Home was Established in 1987 and over the years has developed a reputation for high quality nursing and residential care. The home welcomes residents for a short stay for convalescent respite, just as warmly as it does those who wish to make this their permanent home. St. Mary’s Nursing Home is located in a residential area of Doncaster.

The building has a superb location enjoying a commanding south view over the Town Fields, and approximately half a mile from the Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Doncaster Town Centre. St Mary’s is a no smoking building, but a smoking area is available within the grounds. Situated in its own grounds, the home offers nursing and residential care. The Nursing Home has 56 single bedrooms and private gardens.

All religious denominations are represented, and should a service user require spiritual counselling, this would be arranged. There is a car park that can be accessed via St Mary’s Road behind the building for visitors and staff to use. All your needs will be catered for and the team's lengthy experience will provide the security of knowing you are in the best possible environment. Accommodation is over 2 separate floors for both male and female residents.

St. Mary’s Nursing Home provides regulated activity defined as Accommodation for persons who require Nursing/Personal care and Accommodation for persons who require treatment of disease, disorder or injury. Over 70% of their carers have an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.

I was surprised at the smallness of the room for someone bedridden requiring a wheelchair or hoist. I think a tv wall bracket would serve better than raising it on a couple of empty boxes and could then be viewed from all angles and also free up valuable surface area. The introduction of twice daily
mouth care for those suffering with impaired swallowing would be of great benefit and less reliance on nutrition drinks. I would also recommend either dimmed wall lights or lamps so the client's room is not left in full darkness once the natural daylight fades. Extra fold away seating that relatives can help themselves to would be of benefit and the offer of refreshments would be a welcome gesture although on our visit a carer did kindly direct us to a local shop to buy some.

There will never be enough words of thanks saying how our dear Mum was nursed and cared for to the end of her life.

I would love for the Manager to use my words which sum it all up.
"St Mary's is as homely as a home, with End of Life nursing and care to equal a Hospice".

I would spend many

hours with our Mum, and my brother many hours more. We saw others who are living at St Mary's for their daily care. Excellent care that I could not have improved on.
Mum was End of Life care and her nursing was Gold Standard and her daily care, First Class.

St Mary's is all you could wish for as your Dear One comes to The End.

My Mother-in-law has now been in St Mary's for approximately 6 months. Her general state of health has generally improved. The staff (all) know her and understand her, have time for her and generally show a caring attitude. My visits are always unannounced but I always find my Mother-in-law nicely dressed,
no stains and not smelling of incontinence.

Thank you very much for your review of St Marys care home.
I am so pleased that you found the care that your Mother in law received to be of a high standard, and that her health improved during her stay with us.
Our staff do work hard to make sure that all the residents feel at home and are well looked after. It is lovely to hear that their work is noticed.
Thank you again.
Best wishes.

Care is reactive as opposed to proactive, issues raised are to an extent treated with a degree of disregard, or put down to staffing levels.
The above are views based on visits made and personal and family issues.

I was quite surprised at the smallness of the rooms. There is not much room to manoeuvre of wheelchairs or if bedridden space for visitors.
