Today I visited a friend in Chapel Lodge who is receiving end of life care. I was naturally feeling apprehensive and emotional. I was warmly greeted by a lady in charge and asked to take a Covid test. Once the test was negative, we put on P.P.E and masks and were led to our friend's room. The nurse spoke warmly to residents on the way. Everything looked spotless and there was a restful and comforting atmosphere. Patients were treated with respect and dignity. The meal looked delicious and well presented. Our friend is being so well cared for. Thank you
Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated , I will pass your kind comments to the staff team.
Dad was discharged to Chapel Lodge under the hospital fast-track continuing care scheme. We chose this provider because Dad was an above the knee amputee needing physical care, which could be provided, and because the home was able to cater for unlimited visits from family members during end of life care. Staff were totally professional and entirely helpful during his three-week stay.
Thank you for your feedback it is much appreciated.
I have felt valued and have been pleased to visit safely. I am also impressed by the help provided by the activities organiser, such as letter writing and poetry.
Thank you for your positive review, I will share your comments with the staff team
Excellent communications with family - open and transparent.
Caring and considerate following my mum's transfer, especially as she was recently bereaved.
Thank you for your positive feedback, the staff will appreciate this very much.
I'd like to say I'm so happy my husband, who has a lot of problems, is here. The manager and staff understand his needs and go out of their way to help both of us - a big thank you. My husband shouts a lot and gets very upset but the staff know how to calm him down and reassure him and that I really am happy about.
Thank you for your positive feedback it is very much appreciated.
After a spell in hospital Mum went to Chapel Lodge for respite/assessment. After an initial couple of bad days, she seemed to settled and now after 3 weeks, she's back home. We can't thank all the staff there enough. She was treated with dignity and respect by everyone which helped for such a speedy recovery. This short stay has completely changed Mum's perception of care homes and has eased her fears for any future care needs she may have. Thanks again from both of us.
Since my wife was admitted into the care of the nursing home I have been impressed with the professionalism of all the staff and the care given to my wife. She has been treated with the utmost respect and I have no concerns at present into her continuing wellbeing. It is reassuring that I know she is well looked after and eases any worries I may have had, after 52 years of marriage and hardly a day apart, it could have been much much worse to cope with. Thank you.
Thank you for your positive feedback, the staff will be very pleased.
My dad spent the last 6 months of his life at Chapel Lodge. What an amazing place this is. Full of love and kindness, exceptional care and support all round. All the staff from the care assistants to the management team were brilliant with us as a family. They didn’t just meet our expectations they far, in a way, exceeded them. Even in the last few days of Dad’s life all the staff were so kind and thoughtful. Giving us time to say our goodbyes in our own individual ways was simply outstanding, something I personally will never forget. Meaningful love, compassion respect in caring are not something you just learn in a classroom, it’s in your DNA too. How this home operates has the above in its DNA, it runs from the manager down and that’s what makes this home special, well it did for us. For that as a family, we’re truly grateful, as are the risks staff are taking just undertaking their jobs at the moment so steadfast and without question are in themselves humbling. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this kind and heartfelt review, your father was a pleasure to care for and he will be missed by us all.
Our dad was at Chapel Lodge for 18 months, sadly passing away last month. We want to say how lucky we feel that he was so well looked after by the wonderful staff who were also so lovely to our family when visiting. Chapel Lodge has outstanding staff - the amazing healthcare assistants really did care for our dad, often going the extra mile, and have been such a steady, cheery presence for him throughout his stay. At the end of dad's life, we were so grateful to the nurses for their end of life care and support for us. We were able to stay with dad for several days and nights and many staff helped us through this difficult time and we were able to see just how hard everyone works 24/7 and how genuinely caring they are. The home is very well managed with a great team, ranging from the very patient office staff to the activities staff, cooks, cleaners and laundry ladies who work so hard to keep everything going. We could not have wished for a kinder and safer place for dad to be.
Mum was only in Chapel Lodge for just over 3 weeks to be assessed for nursing care. Not impressed from day one. Family were not spoken to about the plans for mum. On the first day, mum was given tablet form medication when she should have liquid or crushed as she has problems with swallowing, this happened a couple of times, information about her medication was on the notes from the hospital so it was obvious notes had not been read correctly. Mum was kept in bed most of the time as she is not mobile so has to be hoisted out of bed. Most of the care staff were very caring and kind but overworked as not enough staff, two of the care staff which when we asked for something it appeared to be too much trouble and made comments to this effect. Care notes in mums room not up to date had to ask a few times for a fluid chart. Mum was given one immersed bath in the 3 weeks she was there the rest of time she was given a wash or a bed bath. The room was dirty and a strong smell on the corridor.
Excellent staff providing high levels of care. A lovely clean and safe environment.
Thank you for your kind review. We strive to deliver high levels of person-centred care.
She has had a very relaxing stay in pleasant surroundings with pleasant and capable staff. In fact, I think they have gone over and above what I had expected because I know at times my mother can be demanding.
Thank you for your kind review and we are pleased your mum enjoyed her stay with us.
Staff really good, home always kept tidy.

It has a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
There is a good selection of food, they cater for individual residents, with a very pleasant environment in the dining room.
Activities are varied and prove to be beneficial to the residents.
Thank you for your kind review. We strive to deliver high levels of person-centred care and your review will encourage us to further improve and maintain the positive rating we received from CQC.
My Mum was taken to Chapel Lodge for emergency respite. All the staff were amazing throughout her whole stay. Her medication timings were critical and always adhered to. The food was lovely and the room was beautiful. Although my Mum didn't want to originally go in respite. She agreed she would stay with Chapel Lodge in the future.
Staff unprofessional.
Not all medication is given correctly or timely.
Poor admin.
Members of the public have the access number to the home? Security!
Not patient centred care.
My sister has been at Chapel Lodge two and a half years. Staffing for us has been a real problem. Hopefully, having had a lovely Christmas there this year with all the staff showing caring, laughter and empathy with all patients has been really reassuring to see. I hope the manager and staff will be staying for some time to come.
My father has been at this home for a year now. It has had two inspections from CQC due to failing issues in some areas. Management appears to be going through issues which I believe they can overcome (fingers crossed). Staff, care at the home, cleanliness, friendliness is all very good. This home is to be recommended and with now a new manager in place, are hopeful that the home can regain its good status in all areas.
This home from home is one of the best I’ve been in. It is open, friendly, clean, tidy, all members of staff are caring and always on hand, from the caring team through to the kitchen and laundry there is always excellent service.
There is a bustle about the place which helps residents be part of everyday life. The entertainment is second to none, there is always something going on from activities to outings.
My father loves it and I must say this means a lot as a service user.
Satisfactory. No complaints.
