My sister has been at Hillbro for a number of years, and she beams a smile every time, a sure indication of how well she has been looked after. The communication with staff is beautiful and patient, and nothing but kindness is shown. They have dealt with Covid extremely well keeping me informed regularly with updates. My sister has been in other care homes previously, so I’m able to compare Hillboro and glad to say the whole team there is very competent and genuinely interested in her well being.

I can not praise all the staff in Hillbro enough for the fantastic care they have given my mother all through the pandemic and beforehand. She is always clean and well presented on all visits, even unannounced. The staff are always friendly and respectful to me and my mother. I leave the home, feeling happy that she is in the right place, with the right people. Very organised staff and simply the best. Would recommend Hillbro to anybody looking for 1st class care.

Whilst checking the CQC score for this home on the website, it came to our family's attention that our deceased Mum's bedroom with all her private and personal possessions, including private family photos were on this website without our family's knowledge or consent. We certainly didn't give our permission nor was it sought by the home. As you can imagine this has caused great distress to the family as our beautiful Mum passed away in August 2020. We believe this just shows the lack of compassion and respect this home has towards bereaved families. We would suggest if this home wants to advertise their rooms on a website, our family would prefer you use your own staged photographs and props and not someone’s personal room. May I add that this wasn't the only issue with this home, this has caused great pain to our family and is a clear invasion of our Mum's privacy.

We categorically would not recommend this home.

Reply from Leon Berry, Director at Hillbro Nursing Home

I am so sorry that this has caused you and your family distress and I can ensure that the picture is removed promptly. All the staff in the home really enjoyed looking after mum and had the utmost respect for her along with everyone we care for. Consent is always obtained on admission and in this...

Our beautiful mum had a very mixed stay here, for the first couple of months she seemed very lost and very sad, but our visits and hugs/kisses cheered her up. She just really sat in the lounge/dining room and tried her best to watch whatever was going on. She did enjoy her meals but hated the noises, the clatter of plates. She loved to have her hair and nails done but then March 2020 lockdown, totally shut in her little attic room, no view, no visits, she spent seven months with no interaction. Bless her, she just gave up. We rang every day, tried Zoom, Mum was slipping away. The staff did make a few comments which did not relate to how our mum had really deteriorated and on this, we feel let down.

We are very sorry that you feel this way about your mum's time at Hillbro. All of the staff at Hillbro really enjoyed looking after her and commented on what a kind person she was. She always appeared very happy here. We do not have any rooms in the attic. The lockdown has hit everyone hard and I...

The care given in this nursing home is second to none. My cousin was only in here for the last 7 days of her life and she couldn't have been looked after any better. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were so kind, gentle and considerate. I ever I needed a nursing home this one would be the one I would choose.

Mum was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's Disease and transferred from another place to Hillbro towards the end of October 2019. I was initially worried about the move but hugely reassured after discussions with the owners. The move was managed with patience and care for mum and also our other family commitments. This was an insight into the care mum would continue to receive. After transfer, the staff at Hillbro all worked diligently to get to know mum personally, her likes, dislikes and anything that gave her distress. As mum is blind that is a challenge but overcome by the lovely staff. It's always a busy day at Hillbro but walk through the door and you are welcomed, offered a hot drink and a chair. You are encouraged to chat to the nursing staff if you want to know details of care or have any questions or concerns. The home manager is accessible and easy to talk to. I recommend Hillbro 100% and praise "Team Hillbro" for looking after my mum as I would. Fantastic, thank you.

The last two and a half months of my husband's life were spent at Hillbro Nursing Home, where he was loved and cared for by all the excellent staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and whatever he asked for was given. He was kept very smart by the ladies who did mountains of laundry and this was important to us both. The atmosphere at the nursing home was lovely. The staff worked very hard, but no matter how busy there were, they were always brilliant with the residents and had endless patience. Names cannot be mention, but everyone in whatever role were wonderful. If in the future I would have to go into nursing care I have told my family - take me to Hillbro! My love and my thanks to you all.

My dad moved into Hillbro 9 months ago. I can't express how happy I am with everything, the staff and management do for him. The carers and nurses are so kind and thoughtful towards him. The carers and nurses are so kind and thoughtful towards mt dad there isn't anything they wouldn't do for him. They are very approachable and friendly. The management are also very helpful and approachable. My dad has a lovely room which is kept very clean. His clothes are washed every day. I think it's brilliant that they have regular entertainment. My dad gets to go out on regular trips for meals. The lady who is in charge of the entertainment is fantastic with all the residents, she makes sure they do regular activities including live entertainment. The kitchen staff do a brilliant job catering for everyone needs. The food is very good and nothing is too much trouble. Overall I can't thank the management and staff enough for all they do for my dad. I can honestly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nursing home.

My wife is very well cared for at Hillbro Nursing Home where she has been a resident for 9 years. She is in the later stages of Alzheimer's Disease. The staff allow me to participate in her care believing successful care is a partnership. The strength of the nursing home is in its staff whose training and attitude is exemplary. It is well led by the manager. The most recent CQC assessment of "Good" is accurate in my opinion.

I have been very impressed by the staff here, they display great patience, with good humour and expertise to patients who can be very difficult. They appear to have been very well trained, and that can be said for all staff, including those on domestic duties.

My Dad moved in to Hillbro in March and I'm so pleased we managed to get him a place here. I can't praise all the staff enough, the management are really helpful, the carers are all amazing and can't do enough for the residents, the chef is brilliant as are the staff that work in the kitchen. I love the fact that they put on regular entertainment which seems to be a big hit with all the residents. Overall I can't thank you all enough for what you do for my Dad. I'm sure my Mum and sister would wholeheartedly agree!
