Keep going. Activities could have a slight improvement but you can see everyone trying to work on them.
Thank you for your kind words. I will share this with the team and always aim to improve of care delivery in the home,
My dad has been in this care home after experiencing dreadful, neglectful and safeguarding issues at a previous care home. My family and I are very happy with the care Dad receives. We go at least 3 times a week, at different times and never felt concerned about Dad's care and wellbeing. Residents are frequently provided with a variety of snacks and refreshments. Dad's presentation is good. The only things that seems to lack is stimulation/activities.
Dear Carol,Thank you for your review of Chestnut Lodge. We value your review greatly and we at Chestnut Lodge are very pleased that you have a good experience. Your comments regarding the care of your dad are highly appreciated and we will ensure that we address any concerns raised.
My husband was transferred to the home from hospital. I was met by staff with smiles, consideration & empathy. My husbands health improved due to the good care given by staff. Carers on the unit are amazing, giving each patient friendship & car required by all different aspects of dementia. All the unit is kept clean, which is no easy task, all the staff are clean & tidy & very pleasant. I could ask for nothing more. Also staff have supported me along this traumatic journey.
Thank you the positive review. We are happy to hear that you were happy with the care your husband. We wish you all the best in future.
Staff very welcoming. She is looking forward to going into garden now its getting warmer. She is happy + settled.
Thank you for this kind review. We are pleased to hear that you are happy with the care your father in law receives. We value your comments greatly.
Granddad has been in this nursing home for almost 3 months receiving end of life care. The nursing home staff without exception are all very caring and professional and do a wonderful job of looking after granddad. We have visited almost daily and called daily often more than once a day and were at no point ever made to feel we were inconveniencing them. They were always on hand to update us on granddad's progress and care. Granddad has dementia so caring for him is at times quite challenging. The staff have treated granddad with dignity and respect and in a time when it was not possible for Granddad to be looked after at home gave him the next best alternative. We thank every staff member for their care and for getting to know our precious granddad and dad as a person and looking after him so well. No words will ever be able to convey our gratitude to each and every one of the staff. Thank you all so very much.
Thank you very much for the positive review. This means a lot to all at Chestnut Lodge. We are happy that your granddad spent his last days with us.
He went to the home in September. He quickly settled and ate plenty of food (even things he previously hadn't liked). He put on 11lb very quickly. The staff were brilliant with him (he was very stubborn at times) but were able to get him to comply through their patience and persistence, never pushing him to do things he didn't want to do. Dad passed away Boxing Day and even to his last, the staff (nurses and care workers) were good and kind to him, calling a GP whenever they felt he needed it especially as he had cancer and checking on him every 15 minutes during his last few days.
Myself, my husband and my children cannot praise the home enough. A member of my family rang every day without fail and always received a complete update. I was also called if dad had any problems at all.
Thank you very much for this positive review. We take pride in caring for our residents and we are happy that you found care given to your dad excellent. This is very motivating to staff and other residents at Chestnut Lodge Care home. Once again thank you.
The staff are very attentive and compassionate. Nothing is too much trouble for them from the care staff, admin staff and catering staff - they are a great team. They have ensured my grandad's move was as comfortable as possible. We call every evening and we are always updated on how grandad's day/healthcare has been.
Thank you very much for the review of our home. This means a lot to the residents and staff at Chestnut Lodge. We value your comments very highly.
My mum moved into Chestnut Lodge on discharge from hospital. Initially, she was anxious and unsettled and having dementia didn't help as she really didn't understand where she was and why she was there. She was on the dementia ward on arrival but within a week this was discussed with myself and staff and it was decided that the better option for my mum at the time would be the residential unit. A move so soon after arrival wasn't an easy transition but the staff were absolutely fantastic with her and with me providing support and reassurance. She is eating again, taking her medication, socialising with others, participating in the activities and is more positive in herself. The staff are super hard-working, kind, passionate and loving. My mum is gaining weight, taking care of her appearance and they support her well with this. Thank you to staff for caring for my mum and allowing me to visit her as her daughter and not her carer.
We, at Chestnut Lodge thank you very much for this positive review. It means a lot to all the staff and residents at Chestnut Lodge.
After a previous bad experience it was such a relief to find my wife a placement at Chestnut Lodge where she is now settling in nicely. The home itself is modern bright and airy with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Since my wife went to Chestnut Lodge she has put back on the weight that she lost previously and looks like her old self again. The staff are well trained and caring towards the residents and the home itself is well managed and well-run. Chestnut Lodge and all the staff there get top marks from me. Thank you.
Thank you for reviewing our home. We take great pleasure in hearing how we are doing. We are happy to have you and your wife at Chestnut Lodge. We are one big family.
Chestnut Lodge is where my wife is cared for. I have every admiration for the home, she is very well looked after. All the staff is excellent and the manager has sorted my wife's stay there. My wife is very happy there, which gives us absolute satisfaction. Thank you so much.
What a fantastic review and thank you so much for the 5* rating. It's great to read your positive comments regarding your wife's care and most importantly, that she is very happy. With best wishes.
My Mum moved to Chestnut Lodge a few months ago. I could not praise the place, staff, and management enough, they are all fantastic. My Mum has settled so quickly here, which has been a huge relief. She could not be in better hands, all the staff is so lovely and that shows in how my Mum is. The manager was amazing, sorting everything for us and running a fantastic care home, this place is fantastic on all accounts.
Wow, what a great review. It's so wonderful to read how well your mum has settled and how pleased you are with all aspects of the home. It's so helpful for new care seekers, reading your comments, to make a better-informed decision when choosing care for their own loved ones. Thank you. With best wishes.
The floor needs to be re-decorated as the ground floor, but I don't know if this is scheduled to happen or not. A new vinyl floor covering has just recently been put down to replace the carpets to make it easier to clean, which is a big improvement. Unfortunately, they haven't replaced the carpets in the bedrooms with vinyl. It would have been better if they had as the bedrooms do smell sometimes. Also, clothes appear to go missing even though they have been provided with sewn-in labels. To make it easier to carry out activities the side lounges must be provided with larger tables like the ones in the dining room. The current tables are too small.
Thank you so much for submitting your review. I have been in touch with the Home Manager and the Regional Manager and asked them to contact you to discuss your comments further, with best wishes.
Despite the changes that have taken place behind the scenes the level of care from the staff has been exceptional. The current owners rebranded but have put in some improvements which helped aid my mother in her final stages. This care home offers amazing care, I trust the staff and they treat the residents like family and always made me feel welcome whenever I came by which made me feel comfortable in knowing they were being open and honest in their care. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. It's so helpful for new care seekers to read a first hand account of life at Chestnut Lodge. Thank you also for the 5* rating. With best wishes, Managing Director
My husband has been at Chestnut Lodge Care Home for two years. The staff are kind, caring and compassionate. The home provides a safe, comfortable environment that promotes the physical, mental and emotional well-being of the residents. The nursing home offers around the clock care, ensuring the medical and personal needs of the residents are met promptly and professionally. This offers peace of mind to me and other family members and I know his is in safe hands.
With best wishes.
We had to choose a care home for my mother during Covid and couldn’t visit any care homes at all. We were given a list from the council that was on their approved list. As Chestnut Lodge was just down the road from our mother's home, we did the virtual online tour which was very informative and that was it, sold as seen and never regretted it one bit. A big shout to two seniors on the wing, you know who you are, thank you for your care.
Thank you so much for your fantastic review. It's great for the team members to read what a positive impact they have made. With best wishes, Managing Director.
Overall, everything was good. No complaints.
Thank you. We, at Chestnut Lodge, appreciate your feedback. It was a pleasure caring for your lovely friend. Residents and staff on Aspen will miss you and your friend. Regards.
If you have a loved one who needs care do not put them in here. My mum went in 4 weeks ago and passed away yesterday. The buzzer she had in her room did not work most of the time and despite us and social services raising this for over 2 weeks it was never fixed. She was never taken out of her room other than to have a bath once a week, even after we took a wheelchair in for them to use. For tea, she was constantly given jam sandwiches and soup. The manager never introduced herself. We did ask for her to meet with myself and social services in mum's room but she sent a nurse instead. My mum's life was miserable in here. The staff did their best but when you only have 2 care assistants and one nurse to deal with 20 patients it is a near impossibility to cope. On the morning she died we were taken to her room as we had received a call to say she was poorly. We got there to find she had already passed away and they never even told us. It was a massive shock.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feelings. We have just taken over as the new management company and will work with the home to ensure our residents and family members receive the service we would expect.
With best wishes,
I have found that all staff are very helpful and act in a caring manner.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, this is the level of care we always aim to achieve.
My father was only in Chestnut Lodge Care Home for six days where he sadly passed away. All the staff through his end-of-life care were brilliant and showed genuine empathy with nothing being too much trouble. Even though we didn't use the facilities (dining room, lounge etc.) I observed that they were of a good standard. rooms are also of a good standard and can be adapted to personal needs. The home provides well-maintained surroundings and improvements are taking place. If you are looking for care for one of your loved ones then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chestnut Lodge. Thanks again to all.
Hi Christopher, firstly from all of us at Silverline Care, we are so sorry for your loss. We are sending love to all of your family during these hard times. Thank you so much for your kind words, it is so nice to hear that we made your father's last few days that little bit easier. Take care.
My brother moved into the home in May 2019. It was a difficult decision for myslef and my family to make. At that time, he was an alcoholic and could not look after himself in any capacity. The carers and team took over his care with compassion and gave him an extra four years, which we never expected. He was given the care and support he required. He was happy with the activities and loved the staff immensely. I cannot thank them enough for their care and dignity given to him in his last months. He passed away on 16.1.23.
Firstly, from all of us at Silverline Care, we are so sorry for your loss and are sending love to you and all your family. We are so glad we made the last four years as easy as possible for you all; it was our absolute pleasure. Thank you for your lovely words. I will make sure to send them across...

Meet the Team (3)

Hi, my name is Dean, and I am the Home Manager here at Chestnut Lodge Care Home.
I have worked in care since I was 19 years old. I started as a night care assistant, and since then, I have worked in various roles throughout social care. I have a long history in turnaround and support management roles. I hold my Level 5 in social care and management. My aim as manager of Chestnut is to ensure that all our residents have a happy and safe home and receive care and support in the way they want to.

I am a Registered Nurse with over 11 years of experience in social care and currently work as a Deputy Manager. I have always been passionate about caring for others, and supporting people to feel safe, valued, and respected is at the heart of everything I do. I chose to work in social care because I genuinely enjoy making a positive difference in people’s lives, no matter how small. In my role, I take pride in supporting both our residents and staff, helping to create a warm, homely environment where people feel comfortable and cared for. I really value the relationships I build with residents and their families, and I feel privileged to be part of their journey while leading a compassionate and dedicated team.

Originally, I was only going to be working in care for 3 months; however, I fell in love with my work. I love being able to make a difference in someone's life. When people used to ask me what I did for a living, I used to say, "I help make people smile every day and help to improve their quality of life, and I get paid to do this. How lucky am I?" This still stands true to this day, fifteen years later. I have worked as a carer and then as a senior carer. While I am now an administrator, it is still in the care sector, as this is where my heart is.
