My mother entered Aden Lodge Care Home a little over a year ago at the age of 96 where she was welcomed and made to feel at home: indeed her bedroom was newly refurbished and she was consulted on the scheme. Although she usually preferred to stay in her room, the staff very gently encouraged her to
join in the home's social life but indulged her with meals and endless cups of tea when she wanted to stay in her room. My mother was treated with great care and every attention was given to her needs. In October after a short illness, my mother died in her bedroom at Aden Lodge. During her illness, the staff created a wonderful peaceful environment for my mother and ceaselessly cared for her with not only the utmost professional care but with a deep compassion and affection.

I cannot thank them enough and will always be very grateful to all the wonderful staff.

Hi everyone,
Thank you to you all for the lovely evening on Fireworks night. It was very pleasant for the residents, including my father-in-law, to witness an occasion reminiscent of their own childhood and parenthood.
The fireworks were beautiful and I'll never forget one lady who was so thrilled
to see the bright display that she said: " I thought the queen lived in London". I'm not exactly sure what she meant but it meant a lot to her. The effort made by the staff to give residents a good view was wonderful and I'm sure they all enjoyed it. The pie and peas were delicious and compliments to the chef there.

Aden Lodge really is a bright and welcoming home and you staff are amazing.
Thank you
Kind regards

My mother was in Aden Lodge for 10 and a half years. The first 6 years was good then the home went downhill. The last year since they got a new manager, the home has picked up a lot again and she is doing a good job.

My uncle has been a resident of Aden Lodge Care Home near Huddersfield for two years. Since June of this year, there has been a noticeable difference in the attitude of the staff who are friendly and appear much happier in their work. The atmosphere is also happier and the addition of an activities
coordinator has improved the day to day life of the residents. The manager is visible to all and happy to discuss ways to enrich the resident lives.

My dad has just been in respite for a week at Aden Lodge and found the place, bedroom and staff extremely good and they kept us up to date with how my dad was. The staff were very approachable and willing to help in any way they could. The Halloween display was stunning and they spent a lot of time
making all the home look lovely.

My mother has been in the home since spring 2016. We realise the home currently has a poor rating, however, this relates to the period of late 2015/early 2016.
We can only comment on the changes we have seen over the last 6 months or so. However, I would note there has been a remarkable transformation.

Much improved over recent months, now a full-time activities coordinator is in place. Staff excellent, often overworked. Still a large turnover of staff. Hope improvements will continue under the new manager.

My mother was admitted to Aden Lodge for urgent respite care. She arrived in the evening, a bit upset and confused. She was welcomed with a welcoming smile by each and every carer she met. Who all introduced themselves by name to her. She remains at Aden Lodge probably for long term care, Mum is settling
in. She loves the meals, and is eating better than she has done for years!
The building has a slightly shabby look but already I have seen improvements in the entrance, sun room etc. Mum is happy and safe at Aden Lodge .

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.354)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.354) out of 10 for Clayton Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.479 for Clayton Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.479
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clayton Lodge Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
