The old staff that is leaving in tears of sadness are excellent - not medical staff, just care staff. Too many agency staff. Would I put anyone close at St Luke's? No. Too cold and unfriendly with agency staff. My husband was sent to a care organisation a few times. His room was left, on his last time his room was completely emptied and when I got to the hospice, all and I mean everything was dumped in his hospice room in black bags. Even the charity worker was shocked when his room was still being funded. I felt this is unacceptable. The new medical staff seemed a lot better but I didn't leave my husband in like before.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We value all feedback from residents and relatives to help us evaluate the service we provide at St Luke's. We acknowledge your comments and have tried to reach out to discuss your concerns but have been unsuccessful so far. We understand this may...
From the first day of visiting the home, there was a warm, friendly, kind, caring atmosphere. Certainly a family vibe, clean, tidy, lovely room. The staff, nurses, carers and kitchen staff were so lovely. No problems at all, excellent. Lovely reception girl.
Thank you for a lovely review, I will share with the St Luke's family, we do appreciate your kind comments.
It’s a small home on one floor with lovely gardens. A GP practice is next door. They visit weekly as does a hairdresser/beautician. A chiropodist and opticians visit occasionally.
We made my husband's room a home-from-home. The food is mostly home-cooked. Unlike when my Mum was in a care home, his possessions did not 'go walking', his clothes were cleaned and returned with care as if he was home with me.
The tenderness and sensitivity shown to my husband in the last days of his life is something I will never forget. Special credit to the night team members who made sure he was not alone while I came home to grab a bit of sleep.
Knowing the team was all there for him and me, and our family at the end brings me great comfort. I'm truly thankful and forever grateful for that.
Thank you for your lovely review and I will share with the team, it was an honour to support you and your husband. Everybody at St Luke's prides ourselves in being a home-from-home and for caring and supporting everybody who walks through our doors. As I always say to everybody once you walk into St Luke's you are and will always be part of the St Luke's family.
I cannot thank St Luke's enough for the care they gave to my mother in her final weeks. St Luke's were never too busy to talk to us and to provide us with updates. We live in Cyprus and could not travel in her last weeks but the care Mum received was superb. All the staff were friendly and cheerful, which was just what we needed on days when we were feeling the guilt of not being able to travel. They were always professional and nothing has ever been too much trouble for them. They cared for her like anyone would care for their own mother. Since Mum died and we have still been unable to travel, they have taken on the responsibility of getting Death Certificates and getting this to the right people and being a shoulder for us to lean on when we needed it most. Long or short-term care, anyone would be lucky to be in the compassionate and tender care of the staff at St Luke's. Special thanks to the manager and another specific staff member.
Hi Jason. Thank you for your lovely comments, I will share them with the team. It was a privilege to support your mum and you, as we all understood how difficult it was for you being so far away. We always say at St Luke's it is a family and we show everybody who walks through the door the same care and compassion as we would a family member.
Mum initially came into St Luke’s for respite care in late August 2023. Mum has dementia and a number of physical heath issues. Mum has been on and off end of life care, with her medical condition. Care was previously provided at home 24/7 by myself, sister and external carers. Since entering St Luke’s, Mum’s health has stabilised. This has given us tremendous peace of mind. The care she receives is exemplary and it provides a real home from home environment. We feel we can now spend quality time with Mum, without worrying about caring responsibilities. The true test is the ‘feel’ you get from being in St Luke’s, which is both friendly, caring and professional. We particularly like that the nursing home is relatively small and all accommodation is on the ground floor. It is well served by the GP practice next door, which carry out weekly visits. It also provides an on site hair dressing / beauty treatment once a week. We feel very lucky that Mum has a place here.
Hi Glen, Thank you for your lovely review, I will share this with the team. It's a pleasure to care for your mum, she has an amazing sense of humour.
My brother has been a resident of St Luke's for the last six months, and on every visit, he is always clean and content. All staff and management are always happy to help him with anything he needs and also happy to respond to any questions or concerns that I may have regarding finance, appointments or general queries.
Thank you again.
We are delighted with the care provided at St Luke's. The staff are friendly, helpful and give great support to my dad.
Hi Mark, thank you for your kind review; your dad is a pleasure to care for, a lovely man.
St Luke's is an outstanding home. My grandma has been here nearly a year now, and she hasn't been happier. Never complains about being in pain anymore like she used to at her home. All the staff are so friendly and polite and put lots of effort into my grandma. They are always doing things for events, Halloween, etc, playing games and making sure all the residents are as happy as they can be. Very happy with the service.
Your grandma is a pleasure to care for; she has a great sense of humour.
Thank you again.
Nice staff and management, but I have concerns about if one of the residents press their buzzer, it takes a while for them to see to it, and unfortunately, some can't wait, so accidents happen. The food, especially in the afternoons at 4.30, tea is repetitive, they get offered - soup or a sandwich! I don't know what they get later, but not a lot from what I know. Not enough staff to cope, plus the tea trolley does not come around, so misses. I take things in like carton juice and shower gel - all the things that I thought would be supplied?
Thanks for your review. We appreciate all feedback provided by residents and relatives as it helps to celebrate and evaluate the service we provide. It’s great to hear you’re happy with our brilliant staff team and management. We would really appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns...
My mother-in-law has been in St Luke’s now for 8 weeks and is a permanent resident. During the time she has been there, we have found each and every one of the staff to be friendly, kind, caring and professional. They are like an extended family to my mother-in-law and treat her with kindness and respect. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they have also been a great support to myself and my husband. My mother-in-law is very happy here. I would definitely recommend St Luke’s to anyone whose relative needs to go into a nursing home. Thank you all at St Luke’s; you are amazing.
I will pass your kind words on to our team.
I recommend everything.
The service is recommended.
My dad lived at St Luke's for 9-months from his discharge from hospital following his stroke through to the day he passed away. I cannot recommend the St Luke's team highly enough for their professionalism, compassion and understanding during a very difficult time for us all. It's a small home with a team that takes the utmost care in looking after the residents and building relationships with them, no matter their background or care needs. My dad was treated with kindness and dignity and received the highest levels of care and attention during his time there. Simply outstanding - thank you, St Luke's team.
Thank you so much for your kind words which I will pass on to the team. It was our pleasure to look after your dad, and we will all miss him.
Care was outstanding, only one for a week before passing away, but everything and everybody outstands. Well done, care staff. He could not have gone to a better home to be looked after.
Thank you so much for your kind words; it was a pleasure to care for your Dad. He was a true gentleman and is missed by all.
From initial assessment to transfer to St Luke's, the level of care and compassion was above and beyond any that I have experienced previously. The whole team were kind, helpful and informative about her care. At no time did I call and not received a helpful and kind update. We, as a family, cannot recommend this facility and its team highly enough in every respect.
Myself and friends have been absolutely amazed at the care that was provided in an extremely friendly way. We could not have wanted any more. The list of names would be too many to thank as everyone connected was fantastic.
Since the home has changed ownership the standards have got a lot better. The carers, support workers and management are all friendly and approachable. The standard of the food is brilliant and the kitchen looks very hygienic.
I feel that this nursing home is able to feel more personalised than most places and the care here is very good - they are willing to help me in every way.
The manager, nurses, carers, kitchen staff are all so caring. I spend a lot of time with my husband and am always made welcome and they always are there for all our family whatever our ups and downs.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of staff at St Luke’s Nursing Home for the dedicated care given to our mum for the last 3 weeks of her life. After being fast-tracked out of a 6-month hospital stay for end of life care we managed to spend every day at our mum's bedside until she passed away on 23rd July 2018. Our mum was comfortable, pain-free and was cared for in the most empathetic and professional way by all who entered her room. The care and compassion at this home is second to none and is a credit to the nursing profession. From senior down to ancillary staff, the support shown not only to our mum but to my brother and me showed what a strong dedicated team you all are. My brother and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for those 3 weeks.
