The modern, spacious, safe and friendly environment enables residents to relax, socialise and live as independently as possible whilst receiving the very best person-centred care.

Each of the 63 rooms has en suite facilities and is light, spacious and stylishly decorated. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms and make them as homely as possible. I would like to all staff at Craven Nursing Home for the excellent way that they are caring for my dad who has complex needs due to his dementia.
He has been not been able to walk or stand since November 2022 and has to be hoisted and now moved using a wheelchair and they are marvellous with him.
He
is kept very clean and they are all very kind to him.

My dad has been looked after here since June 2022, the staff do an excellent job here. Everyone is very friendly and all do their best to help him even though little is known about his condition. They always contact me when he has falls which are part of his condition, which is often. My dad loves the
trips out which has started more recently, something he has always loved doing. Only have good things to say about the home and all the staff, pity there are not more of them to make it easier for everyone else.

We received a lovely welcome on a grim November day and were shown to Mum's room. We had booked two weeks respite care. It was indeed respite, living up to the name. Thank you to all the hard-working staff - carers, cleaners, nursing, laundry staff, activities organiser etc. Mum loved one-to-one and
singing. I loved being able to visit whenever I wanted. Craven Nursing Home almost became my home for two weeks. Thanks again!

My mother spent the last seven months of her life at Craven. She died recently of dementia. The loving care she received from the staff was amazing, well beyond what I'd have expected given her condition and associated behaviour and that includes all staff, managers, nurses, care staff and cleaners.
My father, also a resident at the Home, was supported and equally lovingly cared for, meeting his specific needs as he spent so much of the day with his wife and is now being very well looked after through a difficult time for him. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Craven Nursing Home cared for my father, who had Alzheimer's disease, for about eighteen months. We were always impressed by the dedication of the team in Heron and as the disease progressed they adapted to his needs appropriately, keeping him comfortable and safe as he became frailer. He developed
good relationships with many of the staff. They were very supportive to us as a family, especially in Dad's final few days and we will always be grateful to them.

Mum spent the last year of her life in the Craven Nursing Home, the care Mum received was beyond excellent, I can’t thank the nurses and carers enough for the love and considerate care they gave Mum in what was probably the most challenging times of their careers. During restrictions, my phone calls
were answered with friendly cheerfulness and always gave me the information about Mum that I needed.
When I could finally visit Mum in her room, from the moment I entered reception everyone greeted me with smiling cheerfulness and Mum was well cared for and happy.
In the final weeks of Mums life, the care Mum received was outstanding.
A huge thank you to the nurses and carers who sat with Mum in her final hours.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Craven and its wonderful staff.

I can’t recommend Craven Nursing Home highly enough. They provided wonderful support to my mother and my family at a very difficult time for us. At very short notice, they took on the care of my mother who, at 86, had suffered a decline in her abilities. They cared for her in a wonderfully supportive
way. Both the nursing and the care staff were so lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them. The meals were wonderful too. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the decor of the home. The home has a fresh and modern feel to it, the garden was beautiful too with flowers and a lovely seating area. Thank you for all your support. It was so good at such a difficult time.

I do not hesitate recommending Craven Nursing Home to anyone seeking care for either themselves or a loved one. From our initial telephone contact with Craven and viewing the facilities, we did not consider another home. The staff were so friendly and welcoming towards us that we knew Mum would be happy
there. Mum's room was airy, bright, comfortable and always clean. We were encouraged to put up family pictures and leave a list of Mum's likes/dislikes, family members and significant moments in her life so that they could get to know her well from the outset.
Throughout Mum's time at Craven staff were caring, courteous and unfailingly cheerful towards us and Mum. Importantly the telephone was answered promptly, if someone needed to call us back they did so and in a timely manner.
We were grateful to be able to visit Mum during this time of Covid testing, wearing PPE and masks. Reassuringly, the manager ensured that at all times we were compliant. We felt sure Mum was safe in their hands.

My mum who was 97, suffered from severe dementia. She was admitted to Craven Nursing Home in April 2019. Noone could have been kinder than the staff there. They were so patient with her, even when she was, to say the least, challenging. I could not have asked for her to be looked after any better. The
home is lovely, clean, bright and well decorated. Mum loved the food surprisingly, as she was very selective about her food. When the end came, she was so well looked after and so obviously loved. I couldn't have asked for more.

I rarely bother to do reviews on products and services. However, I will make an exception regarding Craven Nursing Home.
My mother needed nursing care at the end of her life, we read reviews and made visits before we chose Craven. It was the best decision we made, the quality of care and friendly
staff made my mother’s last months a delight. The entire team were simply brilliant and couldn’t do enough for my mother and the family.
I would recommend anyone faced with the same dilemma we had, to choose this nursing home it will give everyone involved total peace of mind and it’s the least you can do for your loved ones.

My husband recently spent seven weeks at Craven Nursing Home before he died at hospital. He was suffering from advanced cancer and needed 24-hour nursing care. He had a lovely room on the first floor at the back of the building with a view over the canal and hills, everywhere was spotlessly clean and
the necessary Covid regulations were followed.
My husband received excellent care from all the staff, myself and my daughters [aged 21 and 19] were given the comfort and support that we all needed at this sad time. It was such a positive experience for the whole family and I have absolutely no hesitation recommending this home.

My husband moved in here in February - thankfully there was a nice room available at the time. It had a toilet and washbasin en suite, something not available before. A friend had told me the care here was very good and she was absolutely right. From the outset, a thorough and sensitive assessment was
made of his needs and aids were put in place quickly. It was heartwarming to see the care and professionalism of staff making him welcome with friendly introductions, putting up pictures or booking video chats. The teamwork is sound and proactive, well managed and appreciated by those leading the way. The Underpinning Elements written in the Statement of Purpose are so good to hear - almost a hug in words. Relatives and friends of residents should be so encouraged by the determination to work for residents happiness and well being and these aims do feel enacted. My husband is already responding to the kindness surrounding him and the staff are reviving his sense of humour wonderfully.

I feel my sister has settled down at the nursing home, she has the company of other people residents and staff. She mentions another person who lives there who she has particularly bonded with. She does talk about where she lived before and going on little holidays but does not get upset about it now.
She probably doesn't realise all that is being done for her but is encouraged to be as independent as possible. She always mentions how clean everything is and how nice the staff are.

My aunt had to move into a care home because of a deterioration in her dementia at a difficult time due to the pandemic. As a family, this impacted us not being able to visit the home as they would facilitate in 'normal times'. The staff have been extremely supportive in helping her to settle and maintain
daily contact with her sisters by phone. They have done their utmost to facilitate visits when restrictions have allowed. My aunt tells us it is lovely and clean, the staff are nice and they have lovely cakes and yoghurts. She has become friendly with some of the other people who live there and whilst she would still wish to live at home we feel very reassured she is safe and content.

My dad has now been living in the home for 3 months. He settled quickly and talks positively about life there. He enjoys his meals and the view of the canal and hills from his room. The staff have been fantastic. I had to move Mum quickly as she had become unsafe where she was, and the manager made the transition seamless. I have been so impressed with the friendliness of everyone and the care they have shown her. Have been able to see Mum inside for the first time since last April,
and visits are organised and well facilitated.

Mum entered Craven Nursing Home on 2nd November 2020, the week the second lockdown started, which was really bad timing. The staff have been great, keeping us informed about how she was settling in (slowly at first!) and facilitating Skype calls as we were unable to visit until the New Year. They are
always ready to discuss her care and issues and keep us well informed of developments. All this has helped us as a family tremendously: she had moved in very reluctantly.
When I first visited her this year (2021) I was surprised how much better she looked physically, which is a testament to the great care she's received. We can relax knowing that she's being monitored 24 hours a day.
There are less expensive care homes around, but you get what you pay for. I'm happy we made the right choice.

My friend had to go into respite care for a few weeks and I found on my visit (full PPE and very safe visiting regime) all the staff are friendly and go the extra mile, she loved the friendly atmosphere and activities that were arranged. My friend has told me she wants to go back. So to me that says
it all.

Mum has been resident here for more than two years and the last four months has been during the coronavirus pandemic. During that time mum (and her family) have been attended by friendly, helpful and professional staff, the fact that the home has remained Covid-19 free throughout this dreadful time
is testimony to their care. All the residents are treated with respect and dignity but most importantly with care and kindness. The home itself is modern and kept immaculately clean and odour free, unlike some that we visited whilst looking for a place for mum. The manager is very approachable and has proved more than helpful with help and advice, as, I hasten to add, have all the staff without exception. We looked at a number of homes before selecting Craven and I can thoroughly recommend it for those needing full-time care. Thank you all.

Hi, my name is Steph. I am the Registered Manager at Craven Nursing Home.


I have worked here for over 20 years, starting as a Care Assistant in 2002. I have been a Registered General Nurse now for over 15 years. I was Clinical Lead on nights for a year before being promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2020, and subsequently Home Manager in June 2023.


My passion has always been Palliative/End of Life Care, being able to deliver Person-Centred Care, in a respectful and dignified way to our residents and giving support to our relatives.


I enjoy delivering the very best care to our residents with kindness, dignity, and compassion. We have very experienced and caring members of staff at Craven, and I am proud to be part of this fantastic team!

I arrived in the UK in December 2021, and I’m incredibly proud that by May 2022, I achieved what I consider my biggest life accomplishment: becoming a UK Registered Nurse.


Working as a Nurse in a Dementia Unit was always challenging yet fulfilling. Now, as the Swan Unit Manager, I’m excited to continue making a difference in the lives of both our residents and their families. It’s truly a great honor for me to be part of their journey.


In my spare time, I love being outdoors and spending quality time with my two daughters, Ara and Aliah. We enjoy playing in the park and simply being together.

Hi, I'm Maria, and I've dedicated the past 12 years to caring for others. I joined the Craven team in October, and I'm passionate about building meaningful relationships with our residents. I love learning about their unique stories and discovering what brings them joy. I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves.


As a veteran-friendly care home, we have a special responsibility to honour and celebrate the courage and sacrifices of our veterans. I believe it's essential to provide the utmost care and support to those who have served our country.

Hi, my name is Katie Williscroft, I am one of the Activity Coordinators at Craven Nursing Home.


I started working in housekeeping at Craven in February 2023, transferring to activities in September of the same year.


I love working with and getting to know all the residents, the best part of my job is hearing all residents’ stories and making them smile.


I'm an outgoing and friendly person, who loves to make new memories with residents, making their stay with us fun and enjoyable.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, Ara and Aliah. We enjoy the outdoors, playing in the park and just spending quality time together.

I arrived in the UK from the Philippines and started work at Craven Nursing Home in January of 2023. I have a medical degree and background, with experience working with children as well as the elderly.


When it comes to people who need care and assistance, I am passionate and always strive to provide the best care possible. I believe that with my hard work, respect and patience, I can make a difference to others, especially to our residents.


With my smile and positive perspective in life, I like to spread my positivity, not just my to colleagues, but also to residents and their families.
