My Dad received end of life care at Ghyll Royd. The care he received was exemplary. The amazing staff treated him with care, respect, kindness and dignity. They also cared for me, my mum and my sister while we sat with him, with endless cups of tea and shoulders to cry on. We are so pleased he spent
his last days being looked after in this very special place.

We looked at 3 other care homes before we decided on Seeton. As the stay was funded the council agreed this as it was also the cheapest. In our opinion it was also the best both in standard of the home and rooms but most importantly the quality of the staff who act in a professional manner and made
my sisters stay more than we could have expected in difficult circumstances.

My grandad was in Steeton Court for 10 months and the care he received was of a high standard. We were kept well informed of any changes in his health all the time. During his last few days he was kept very comfortable and his wishes were adhered to. The nursing team, care team, domestic and kitchen
staff are all very professional and care with a person-centred, dignified approach.

My husband was in Craven Nursing Home for almost 5 years. During that time, he and I were both treated with the utmost respect and compassion. All staff (not just the nurses and carers) take a interest in, and interact with the residents and the care is exemplary. The Activities team manage to come
up with a diverse and stimulating range of activities and are simply brilliant.
In the last few days of his life, my husband received the best palliative care and the whole team pulled together to ensure we were both cared for, which made a difficult and sad time more bearable.
It really did become my second family and I can't thank them enough.

My Dad was on end of life care at Ghyll Royd. The care he received was nothing short of excellent, but what truly stood out was the kindness, compassion and dignity with which it was given. Every member of staff treated Dad with such respect, gentleness and warmth and that made an enormous difference
to both him and our family. Despite the very difficult circumstances, there was always space for laughter and humour alongside the tender care. They didn't just see him as a patient, but as a person with a lifetime of stories, and they honoured that right up until the end. As a family, we were supported too. We were always kept informed, included and treated with empathy and understanding. Knowing that Dad was safe, comfortable and surrounded by people who genuinely cared about him gave us peace of mind at the hardest time of our lives. We will always remain deeply grateful - thank you.
Reply from Nichola Gawthrop, Home Manager at Ghyll Royd Care Home

Thank you so much for sharing such kind and moving words about your Dad's care with us. It means the world to our whole team to know that we were able to provide comfort, dignity, and compassion to him, and support to you and your family during such a difficult time.We always want those in our care to be seen and valued as the unique individuals they are, and it is truly humbling to hear that you felt this was reflected in the way we cared for your Dad. Your words about the laughter, gentleness, and warmth will be shared with the staff, who will be deeply touched to know the difference they made. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on your loss, and our gratitude for allowing us the privilege of being there for your Dad and for you all. We hold you in our thoughts and send you strength and comfort. With deepest sympathy and thanks from Nichola and all the team at Ghyll Royd.

Mum spent the last 16 months of her life as part of the Harewood (dementia) community. She was welcomed by the staff with compassion, smiles and a sense of fun. She felt cherished by the staff who took excellent care of her and always thought forward preparing for her future needs. Communication from
the home was excellent. Mum especially enjoyed playing balloon tennis, listening to visiting singers and musicians, and going on outings when she was well enough. Steeton Court has a friendly atmosphere where residents enjoy living.

My mother moved into Steeton Court Nursing Home in April 2024 after receiving care at 5 other homes, where they were unable to manage Mum's challenging needs due to her dementia. Mum was finally settled and the care team were excellent. This gave the family some reassurance Mum was being cared for.
There was an incident with one member of staff but the management dealt with it immediately and appropriately. Overall, the nursing home was well managed, had properly trained staff and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Steeton Court is in a lovely situation. Very pleasant building to visit with a welcoming and bright feel as soon as you enter. My step-mother spent nearly two years in the home due to dementia and was very settled. The staff were very kind, informative and professional. All her needs were met and they
kept us updated on my step-mother's welfare. We received an excellent weekly news letter about all that was going on in the home. This was so useful and interesting as I lived a distance away from the home. I must thank the home administrator for all her valuable help and the activities team for all the interesting events they provided.

My wife has been in the Beech unit at Ghyll Royd for 18 months during which time she had excellent care from a wonderful team. She had diabetes, Alzheimer's and Coeliac disease and all these conditions were monitored and managed by the excellent nurses and carers on the unit. There were lots of activities
morning and afternoon seven days a week available for residents to take part as they wish. There is a warm and happy atmosphere throughout the home which is shown by all the staff who are kind and helpful to residents and visitors. My wife was very calm and settled whilst she was in Ghyll Royd and looked upon the staff as friends. There was always a smile and a word or two from everyone we saw when visiting. Sadly, my wife passed away on the 8th May and the support shown by all staff we spoke to was a great comfort. We are extremely grateful for your care and attention and would like to thank all your staff who do an amazing job. We will continue to support Ghyll Royd going forward.

Our mother with dementia was at the home for 8 weeks until she passed away. We had looked round other homes but as soon as I walked in here and was welcomed so warmly I knew this was the place. It felt like a luxurious hotel and smelt lovely. The care that our mother received was the absolute best.
The home has a friendly, nurturing atmosphere, it was immaculately clean, the activities are fun and plentiful, and the residents seem really happy and well looked after. The food always looked amazing, she had brilliant empathetic and and kind carers and support staff, and the management were so welcoming and you could see that they had a great relationship with the staff. You could tell it was a nice place to work. Our mum was relaxed and happy there which was so comforting to us. End of life care in the home was so respectful, caring and dignified. Her time in the home was something we will always cherish.

My dad was admitted to Craven NH in November 2024 and passed away in the NH May 2025. Craven NH was outstanding in the care and treatment dad received. From the minute we contacted them the staff were friendly, professional, considerate and compassionate always and made all the family feel like part
of the Craven NH family. We could not fault any element of dad's care and the staff could not have been any more professional, polite and friendly during the time before, during and after his passing. The building and gardens were maintained and cleaned to a very high standard and the food was excellent. We are so glad we chose Craven NH for dad and would highly recommend it. The best NH I have ever visited by far. A big thank you to the staff.

To all the wonderful team at Ghyll Royd from management, reception, nurses, carers , pink ladies , cooks, cleaners, laundry, maintenance,to the residents and their families.
Our mum had 2 years there even though she went in end of life.
From the moment she arrived, we saw the warmth and dedication
in everything the staff did on a daily basis, and moments of genuine kindness that made us and her feel safe and valued. You weren't just carers; you became part of our extended family.
It brought us so much comfort to know that she was in such good hands, surrounded by people who truly cared for her as a person, and not just as a resident.
In her final days, your support meant more to us than we can ever put into words. We laughed together and cried together and our loss was your loss.
We will continue to come in and see you all as you can't say goodbye to extended family .

The end of May is my wife's birthday. I had mentioned it briefly to the staff but not made any fuss about it. So it was with great surprise and pleasure to find this afternoon that the staff had looked after in the morning, including shower/wash and style of hair. They left a birthday card/birthday
