In addition to the excellent day to day care that mum receives she has had two big events since moving in - her grandson's wedding and her 92nd birthday. The team at Steeton Court have been brilliant- helping with arrangements to enable her to attend the wedding; organising assistance on the day to accompany mum to and from the ceremony, someone who was by mum's side throughout the day and got her settled back in to her room over a welcome cup of tea. A tiring but memorable day for her.
The staff also made mum's birthday really special for her - and us. Handmade card, balloons, bunting and a super birthday cake served with pots of tea! Fabulous.

These important events in residents' lives show just how much the team genuinely care and go above and beyond.

Myself and my family are delighted with the care and respect my dad is receiving at Steeton Court. I can speak highly enough about the staff and quality of care that they provide. My dad has been encouraged to take part in activities and retain his mobility, it's a fantastic place and sets a high standard. My dad is always treated with dignity and respect at Steeton Court which puts our minds at rest.

The few times I've visited I have always found the staff very welcoming, friendly + very professional. Anything you need they will go above + beyond to find it for you. It must be hard enough to accept having dementia but the staff on the dementia clinic are so kind + helpful. They never stop. Both myself + my wife appreciate so much everything the staff have done + carry on doing for Mum.

Big Thanks!

My mum spent the last week of her life in Steeton Court and I have to say after a bad experience at another care home with my father , Steeton Court restored my faith in care homes .
The staff treated her with respect, anything she wanted , custards for breakfast, dinner and tea no problem , Horlicks at midday no problem.
They treated my mum like a family member as they did us , we were kept up to date on everything, nothing hidden , open , honest and caring , respect and kindness .
The day my mum passed the staff stayed late , never leaving me to struggle, a hug always available and my mum who did not want to go into a care home , felt safe and comfortable.

I honestly can't speak of you all highly enough .

Staff care and activities were lovely and kind to my mum. My only points are I feel the nursing staff didn't discuss my mum's care with me on a regular basis, no feedback/reviews meeting or "keyworker appointed" to my mum for me to contact, this would be a good thing to happen for future relatives I feel. Secondly when my mum was admitted I had no introductory meeting with management. I felt this wasn't helpful and unprofessional of the care home.

An exceptional team of kind, caring professionals at every level. The support provided to mum and our entire family was first class and we will be forever thankful that we found Seeton Court. Every aspect was excellent from the moment we did our first visit, throughout mum's stay, and sadly at her end of life stage. A wonderful team who made a huge positive impact for us all.

My grandfather spent his last week at Steeton Court, the staff didn't just take care of him, they took care of the whole family. During what was a tough time for my family, the team at Steeton Court made it as easy for us as possible. My mum had dementia and was a resident in Steeton Court for about 10 months. I have nothing but praise for the all the staff from management to housekeepers. The nursing and care for my mum was exceptional, unfortunately she was not always easy to deal with, but the staff were all very caring and understanding, dealing with my mum with patience and giving her space and time when she needed it. It always amazed me how busy they kept the residents with trips out, even if it was just for a coffee somewhere, and various activities at the home. Visitors were always made welcome at anytime and the staff were always available to talk to me and give updates on my mum and how she was doing. I would not hesitate to recommend Steeton court.

Steeton Court nursing and care staff and admin staff were all extremely attentive, kind and professional. A couple of tiny hiccups were put right quickly and very efficiently. Steeton Court offered a welcoming and comforting experience for both my parents and for us as a family. All the staff, regardless of their job, were warm, friendly, polite and respectful. My father had more complex health care needs, which were always met and with nothing too much trouble. Individual, personalised care was excellent, staff communicated and informed the family of any changes, which was reassuring. We had no worries about the standard of care; in particular end of life care was excellent. Physical and mental health care needs were met to reduce suffering. Open visiting, respect, dignity, attentiveness - this excellent nursing home has certainly helped in our grief - knowing our parents received the best possible care.

We looked at 3 other care homes before we decided on Seeton. As the stay was funded the council agreed this as it was also the cheapest. In our opinion it was also the best both in standard of the home and rooms but most importantly the quality of the staff who act in a professional manner and made my sisters stay more than we could have expected in difficult circumstances.

Mum spent the last 16 months of her life as part of the Harewood (dementia) community. She was welcomed by the staff with compassion, smiles and a sense of fun. She felt cherished by the staff who took excellent care of her and always thought forward preparing for her future needs. Communication from the home was excellent. Mum especially enjoyed playing balloon tennis, listening to visiting singers and musicians, and going on outings when she was well enough. Steeton Court has a friendly atmosphere where residents enjoy living.

My mother moved into Steeton Court Nursing Home in April 2024 after receiving care at 5 other homes, where they were unable to manage Mum's challenging needs due to her dementia. Mum was finally settled and the care team were excellent. This gave the family some reassurance Mum was being cared for. There was an incident with one member of staff but the management dealt with it immediately and appropriately. Overall, the nursing home was well managed, had properly trained staff and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Steeton Court is in a lovely situation. Very pleasant building to visit with a welcoming and bright feel as soon as you enter. My step-mother spent nearly two years in the home due to dementia and was very settled. The staff were very kind, informative and professional. All her needs were met and they kept us updated on my step-mother's welfare. We received an excellent weekly news letter about all that was going on in the home. This was so useful and interesting as I lived a distance away from the home. I must thank the home administrator for all her valuable help and the activities team for all the interesting events they provided.

Recently my mum suffered a stroke or similar.
She has been a resident at Steeton Court for nine years. The nurse called me and clearly described Mum's situation.
When I arrived, a carer was with Mum, holding her hand. I had been hiking and was very dirty, so they offered me use of a shower.

The nurses & carers were so kind and supportive of both mum & me. Mum is much better, I can't praise their care enough.

Philippa YoungJob Title:Operations ManagerJoined: 2019

I have worked across the group of homes since December 2019.

I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse, having completed my Nursing Degree in Wales. I have a range of experience working initially in specialist mental health services, domiciliary care/supported living and specialist learning disability services before moving across to the aged care sector and palliative care. I have experience in Home Management, Senior Operations Management, and Quality and Compliance roles.

I am extremely passionate about high-quality, kind, person-led care and ensuring that we go the extra mile for people living in our care homes, never forgetting that the little things are often the big things.

I am also motivated to ensure that we have well-supported and valued staff teams who have the opportunity to develop and have a great working environment where wellbeing is a strong focus and staff feel listened to.

I have experience of dementia both from a personal and professional perspective, so I do have an understanding of the journey relatives also experience.

I am a qualified Dementia Care Mapper and have worked on the King's Fund Dementia projects. I also sit as a judge in the National Great British Care Awards.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and going on days out together or going for a cup of Earl Grey and a piece of cake somewhere scenic. I can quite often be found in the Lake District; it has become my second home, and my little sausage dog loves it too.

I joined Spellman Care in 2021. I obtained my BSc Hons in Adult Nursing at Ulster University in 2011 as a mature student. My career in nursing has focused on Elderly Care, especially Palliative Care.

I enjoy working at Steeton Court; we have a great team throughout the home, and I love seeing residents smile and enjoy their time with us. It is very rewarding knowing that we, as a team, make a difference to our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing hockey and visiting places of interest (and no, not the pub)! I have been camping all over the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe.
