My mum had dementia and was a resident in Steeton Court for about 10 months. I have nothing but praise for the all the staff from management to housekeepers. The nursing and care for my mum was exceptional, unfortunately she was not always easy to deal with, but the staff were all very caring and understanding,
dealing with my mum with patience and giving her space and time when she needed it. It always amazed me how busy they kept the residents with trips out, even if it was just for a coffee somewhere, and various activities at the home. Visitors were always made welcome at anytime and the staff were always available to talk to me and give updates on my mum and how she was doing. I would not hesitate to recommend Steeton court.

Steeton Court nursing and care staff and admin staff were all extremely attentive, kind and professional. A couple of tiny hiccups were put right quickly and very efficiently. My brother-in-law's care needs were complex, and the staff were keen to work with us to make his time there as pain-free and
pleasant as it could possibly be.

Both my Aunt and my Uncle were residents at Steeton Court Nursing Home for several years. In that time they were both extremely happy and satisfied at the service they received, and always felt they were well looked after and cared for. The staff were pleasant, respectful and always went above and beyond
to make sure my Aunt and Uncle had everything they needed.
I have no hesitation in recommending Steeton Court Nursing Home, and am glad my Aunt and Uncle spent their final years here.

My mum has been here since November 2025. I couldn't aks for a nicer place! She has dementia & all the staff are absolutely lovely! Nothing is ever too much for them. They allow me to use their own hair salon to do mum's hair & nails, (as I am a hairdresser). You couldn't ask for a nice place to be!
From the cleaners up to management, they're all amazing. My only wish is for Mum to be comfortable & have her last days/months/years in this place.

Steeton Court offered a welcoming and comforting experience for both my parents and for us as a family. All the staff, regardless of their job, were warm, friendly, polite and respectful. My father had more complex health care needs, which were always met and with nothing too much trouble. Individual,
personalised care was excellent, staff communicated and informed the family of any changes, which was reassuring. We had no worries about the standard of care; in particular end of life care was excellent. Physical and mental health care needs were met to reduce suffering. Open visiting, respect, dignity, attentiveness - this excellent nursing home has certainly helped in our grief - knowing our parents received the best possible care.

We looked at 3 other care homes before we decided on Seeton. As the stay was funded the council agreed this as it was also the cheapest. In our opinion it was also the best both in standard of the home and rooms but most importantly the quality of the staff who act in a professional manner and made
my sisters stay more than we could have expected in difficult circumstances.

My grandad was in Steeton Court for 10 months and the care he received was of a high standard. We were kept well informed of any changes in his health all the time. During his last few days he was kept very comfortable and his wishes were adhered to. The nursing team, care team, domestic and kitchen
staff are all very professional and care with a person-centred, dignified approach.

Mum spent the last 16 months of her life as part of the Harewood (dementia) community. She was welcomed by the staff with compassion, smiles and a sense of fun. She felt cherished by the staff who took excellent care of her and always thought forward preparing for her future needs. Communication from
the home was excellent. Mum especially enjoyed playing balloon tennis, listening to visiting singers and musicians, and going on outings when she was well enough. Steeton Court has a friendly atmosphere where residents enjoy living.

My mother moved into Steeton Court Nursing Home in April 2024 after receiving care at 5 other homes, where they were unable to manage Mum's challenging needs due to her dementia. Mum was finally settled and the care team were excellent. This gave the family some reassurance Mum was being cared for.
There was an incident with one member of staff but the management dealt with it immediately and appropriately. Overall, the nursing home was well managed, had properly trained staff and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Steeton Court is in a lovely situation. Very pleasant building to visit with a welcoming and bright feel as soon as you enter. My step-mother spent nearly two years in the home due to dementia and was very settled. The staff were very kind, informative and professional. All her needs were met and they
kept us updated on my step-mother's welfare. We received an excellent weekly news letter about all that was going on in the home. This was so useful and interesting as I lived a distance away from the home. I must thank the home administrator for all her valuable help and the activities team for all the interesting events they provided.

Recently my mum suffered a stroke or similar.
She has been a resident at Steeton Court for nine years. The nurse called me and clearly described Mum's situation.
When I arrived, a carer was with Mum, holding her hand. I had been hiking and was very dirty, so they offered me use of a shower.
The nurses
& carers were so kind and supportive of both mum & me. Mum is much better, I can't praise their care enough.

In Dec 2024 I had 2 members of my family in Steeton Court nursing home. Sadly one member was put on end-of-life care and sadly passed away before xmas, my second other family member could not have asked for better care for my brother, Mum and I were looked after every step of the way, everything explained
to us and what was going to happen. When he passed away we were given time alone with him to take it all in. Even on the funeral day everything was organised for mum to attend. Could not wish for a better home, thank you.

My journey at the nursing home for 2 weeks at the beginning of 01/2024.
I had a good experience at Steeton Court Nursing Home, my rating was 8 out of 10. In the day shift, there were plenty of care workers. On the floor, I was resistant to 12 care workers for 31 users at the time.
The service was
great, on the usual 2 minutes of myself pressing the on-call button a care worker would attend my room helping in a few minutes if not busy. The night staff care workers were less therefore assisting was longer in time. The activities coordinator team has really helped and is good.
The kitchen was good catering to my halal deities and the food was delicious.
The home staff were great at keeping the nursing home clean and tidy.
The management team would take on board any issues I had.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.720)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.720) out of 10 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.820 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (158 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 189 Ratings = 4.82
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I started my career as a staff nurse for the NHS and went on to work in varied nursing roles from immunising children to elderly care. In recent years, I moved into the care sector where I have worked as a nurse, clinical Deputy Manager and Home Manager. I am passionate about good quality care for our residents, leading with care and compassion.

Before becoming Home Manager at Steeton Court, in my first six months at Spellman Care, I worked across all four homes as a Quality Assurance Officer to ensure we were compliant, safe, and providing quality care.

I love meeting with the residents in our care, getting to know them as individuals and seeing what we can do to make their lives the best they can be.

In my spare time, I love to hike and can be found up many of the famous peaks in the country! I have two young boys who also keep me busy, and I like to go out for days with them.

I joined Spellman Care in 2021. I obtained my BSc Hons in Adult Nursing at Ulster University in 2011 as a mature student. My career in nursing has focused on Elderly Care, especially Palliative Care.

I enjoy working at Steeton Court; we have a great team throughout the home, and I love seeing residents smile and enjoy their time with us. It is very rewarding knowing that we, as a team, make a difference to our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing hockey and visiting places of interest (and no, not the pub)! I have been camping all over the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe.
