Mom came to Steeton Court for three weeks to build her up after a stint in the hospital. The care she received was wonderful. Mom needed support with basic daily needs, plus regular medical reviews and the staff looked after everything without hesitation. They provided a caring and professional approach,
which gave Mom and I reassurance and peace of mind. Mom was not the easiest resident at times, but her needs were always met with compassion and courtesy. I’m really grateful to all the staff and management for their support.

My mum was admitted to Steeton Court as she required palliative care for advanced bowel cancer. The care she received was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much for the staff, and she spoke so highly about all of them. We were so glad that she spent her last few months living there. She couldn't
have been more well looked after, for which we will be forever grateful.
Reply from Adelle Booth, Marketing Manager at Steeton Court Nursing HomeThank you for such a kind, lovely review. I am so pleased that you have been pleased with the care your mum received; it's so important to us that we make our residents feel as comfortable as possible.

The care home is a pleasant environment for my aunt, where she is well cared for. We are regularly kept up to date with management, staff and development issues as they take place. Unfortunately, our visits have been less frequent than was previously the case due to our caution during the pandemic.

Management and staff were always kind, caring and helpful. They helped my brother settle in by helping us to characterise his room with furniture and pictures he knew and loved, and they provided him with a very consistent and high standard of care. My brother was a bit of a challenge, but everyone
at Steeton Court coped well. I know he felt loved and safe. My family and I can't thank everyone at Steeton Court. If I have to live in a nursing home, Steeton Court would be my first choice.

We feel it's so important that Steeton Court is a home from home which is why it's so important that families make the room their own.

Remarkable, caring staff who know everyone's names and make sure the residents receive their individual care needs. I have seen an amazing group of staff in the last 18 or so months, who have been under a lot of pressure with staff shortages etc, during the pandemic. Well done to all.

The care and compassion my aunty received in the four months she was at Steeton Court was outstanding. She was treated with the utmost care and respect by all the staff throughout her stay. We were continuously updated and guided by their knowledge which helped us through a very challenging period.
From the day my aunt arrived, she was encouraged to make Steeton Court her home by being allowed to bring her own furniture and belongings this was invaluable to her settling in.
Once again, thank you for everything.

What a wonderful place! All the staff are professional, caring and friendly. Whether the patient is having a good day, a bad day, a happy day or a grumpy day, the staff are there to help with caring, knowledgeable help. The chef team is excellent. The cleaning team are wonderful. Everyone in the "office"
is so helpful. Staff are also very good at supporting family and friends and offering advice and help when needed. Everything is so positive.

Steeton Court is just how a nursing home should be. The staff are kind, caring and knowledgable, plus there are enough staff to carry out proper care of residents. The manager is clearly a compassionate nurse, and her ethos travels throughout the home. Activities are planned, and the activity staff
spend time with residents and work on individual capabilities. Just wish we found Steeton Court earlier for our mother.

My husband came to the nursing home in March 2021, after a five-month stay in hospital with wide-ranging nursing needs. The home followed the hospital's plans very carefully, and he soon settled in. The carers and nurses were kind, caring and understanding, and he soon felt at home, as did I during
my visits. Such a friendly, welcoming place I would recommend to anyone.

My dad was admitted to Steeton Court from the hospital in November 2020 with terminal cancer and Covid. He was given a few weeks to live.
He surprised us all by lasting an additional year. That extra year gave him the opportunity to say goodbye to his loved ones.
I want to thank all the staff of Steeton
Court. Without exception, they all treated him with compassion, dignity and respect, to the point where my father said that the staff were like family.
The nursing home itself is spotlessly clean, well managed, and the food is excellent.
Because my father was so ill, he was unable to enjoy the activities, however, I do know that there were many activities open to him.
One of the nicest aspects of Steeton Court was the way that they kept the families involved. A lot of communication was sent to the families, and the monthly activities calendar is great - it was much appreciated, and it made us feel more involved.
I would highly recommend Steeton Court.

Recently moved Mum to Steeton Court as her needs were not being met in residential care. Felt very anxious about the move, but the manager and her team could not have been more helpful and supportive. Mum has been there since August 2021, and as a family, we feel reassured and confident that Mum is
being well cared for. Really pleased that Mum is encouraged to be involved in everything going on, and so good to see her in the communal areas, as opposed to her room. Thank you to everyone for looking after her.

This care home provides exemplary care!
Residents are treated with respect, and their dignity is maintained at all times. Whilst they are able to enjoy the leisure facilities provided by the home, there is entertainment and a variety of activities. When they need more care and nursing, they are always
kept scrupulously clean, comfortable and tenderly cared for in their own pleasantly furnished room. I have nothing but praise, admiration and gratitude for the high standard of care my aunt received, and I know that her time spent at the home was as happy and enjoyable as anyone could wish. The end of life care she received was exemplary, and I know how much she appreciated the love and care she received from the dedicated staff of Steeton Court Nursing Home; thank you to everyone!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.784)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.784) out of 10 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.809 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (187 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.809
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2019

I have worked across the group of homes since December 2019.

I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse, having completed my Nursing Degree in Wales. I have a range of experience working initially in specialist mental health services, domiciliary care/supported living and specialist learning disability services before moving across to the aged care sector and palliative care. I have experience in Home Management, Senior Operations Management, and Quality and Compliance roles.

I am extremely passionate about high-quality, kind, person-led care and ensuring that we go the extra mile for people living in our care homes, never forgetting that the little things are often the big things.

I am also motivated to ensure that we have well-supported and valued staff teams who have the opportunity to develop and have a great working environment where wellbeing is a strong focus and staff feel listened to.

I have experience of dementia both from a personal and professional perspective, so I do have an understanding of the journey relatives also experience.
I am a qualified Dementia Care Mapper and have worked on the King's Fund Dementia projects. I also sit as a judge in the National Great British Care Awards.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and going on days out together or going for a cup of Earl Grey and a piece of cake somewhere scenic. I can quite often be found in the Lake District; it has become my second home, and my little sausage dog loves it too.

I joined Spellman Care in 2021. I obtained my BSc Hons in Adult Nursing at Ulster University in 2011 as a mature student. My career in nursing has focused on Elderly Care, especially Palliative Care.

I enjoy working at Steeton Court; we have a great team throughout the home, and I love seeing residents smile and enjoy their time with us. It is very rewarding knowing that we, as a team, make a difference to our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing hockey and visiting places of interest (and no, not the pub)! I have been camping all over the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe.
