In the last 12-months, since the appointment of a new manager - Steeton Court has been transformed. The manager has a clear vision and has worked tirelessly to achieve it. She has the skills to bring all the staff onside, and there is now a great team spirit. Mum is safe, happy, comfortable and well
cared for - what more can I ask. I am proud to be associated with the Steeton Court community.

This home has improved dramatically in the past 6-months, following the poor CQC review last year. Three years ago it lost its way and the staff also. It is now under good management and improving.

The care my father has received has been first-rate, the quality of nursing and familiarity shown to this proud man has been second to none. For all that, it's a difficult time, and we've been unable to see him, it's been made bearable by these marvellous people.

My mother has been in Steeton Court for almost two years. She regards it as her home and is comfortable and content. The management and staff are very caring and Mum appears to have formed a genuine relationship with them. My mother enjoys the activities provided; the staff put a tremendous effort into
providing stimulating and topical events. I am extremely satisfied with the level of care Mum receives and would have no hesitation in recommending this provider to family and friends.

My husband was in very poor health when he was discharged from the hospital to Steeton Court; we thought he would not last more than a couple of months. Just as soon as he arrived, he received the most amazing care from all the people who work at Steeton Court; their dedication has to be seen to be
believed! He has blossomed since his arrival, he had gained weight and is so happy! We are looking forward now to a bright, happy future.

My mother has been in the care home for 13 and a half years. The care she has received over that time has been exemplary. The care and nursing staff are totally dedicated to their jobs and has made what could have been a difficult time, emotionally for me, a very calm time. I have full confidence in
the nursing staff.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.742) out of 10 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.792 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (175 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.792
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I started my career as a staff nurse for the NHS and went on to work in varied nursing roles from immunising children to elderly care. In recent years, I moved into the care sector where I have worked as a nurse, clinical Deputy Manager and Home Manager. I am passionate about good quality care for our residents, leading with care and compassion.

Before becoming Home Manager at Steeton Court, in my first six months at Spellman Care, I worked across all four homes as a Quality Assurance Officer to ensure we were compliant, safe, and providing quality care.

I love meeting with the residents in our care, getting to know them as individuals and seeing what we can do to make their lives the best they can be.

In my spare time, I love to hike and can be found up many of the famous peaks in the country! I have two young boys who also keep me busy, and I like to go out for days with them.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2021

Hi, my name is Samantha, I am the Deputy Manager at Steeton Court.

I joined Spellman Care in 2021. I obtained my BSc Hons in Adult Nursing at Ulster University in 2011 as a mature student. My career in nursing has focused on Elderly Care, especially Palliative Care.

I enjoy working at Steeton Court; we have a great team throughout the home, and I love seeing residents smile and enjoy their time with us. It is very rewarding knowing that we, as a team, make a difference to our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing hockey and visiting places of interest (and no, not the pub)! I have been camping all over the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe.
