Since Mum has been under the care at Steeton Court, she has had full professional and caring support from all staff. Great care and empathy has been shown at all times to Mum and visitors. We're always made welcome and all staff are approachable. I would love to think that all vulnerable ageing people
receive the same care as my mum has had. Great work! Team work makes the dream work.

When it became clear that my friend needed full-time, skilled nursing care, we visited several local homes. Without doubt, Steeton Court was the best choice, from the friendly yet very professional first visit, right through to her final weeks, I felt she was in a safe, caring environment, which attended
to details.
As a friend who visited occasionally (not a member of the family) I cannot speak for the day to day or details of care and support. I was impressed by the way the home allowed my friend to hold our reading group meetings in a communal room, so that she could host and continue her usual routines. We were all made very welcome.
I was also delighted by the way the staff put up my friend's many decorations for the Coronation around her room and helped her dress up for the day. They also made it possible for her to host her own birthday party, little things that make a big difference and helped make this care home into a real home.

A lovely clean room, marvellous staff during the day - night too. Everyone was so friendly to me. I could get about, I used to walk up and down the corridor as I was there for respite because I had been so ill in the hospital and struggled to walk.

My brother lived here for almost five years. He felt well cared for, happy and well-liked in the home. Steeton Court was his home! It is well managed now and staffed with people who cared about him. Many of the staff are long-standing. This is essential for continuity and consistency of care.

I called to ask if there were any spaces at Steeton Court, and two lovely ladies (staff) let me look around. I really liked the place - very helpful. Called again after the weekend and had a chat with another lady, yet again, very, very helpful. My mum moved in six weeks, and we have found everything,
first class. What a lovely place, lovely staff and very helpful and made my mum's stay excellent, and a fantastic experience for her to get back to good health. Friends called and stopped for lunch - all good. Thank you!

After spending almost 7 years in a wonderful care home in North Yorks, an assessment deemed Dad needing nursing care. We took the opportunity to move him to a home in West Yorkshire where we can visit more often. This was a traumatic experience not only for Dad but for all the family. We wanted to find
somewhere as nice as possible for him and after looking at a few other nursing homes we arrived at Steeton Court, where all our prayers were answered. It is a haven of peace and tranquillity, where we were met with courtesy and kindness by the manager. She sorted out all the details for us and completely put our minds at rest. Dad moved to Steeton Court in July and has settled in well due to all the care and compassion he is shown. Having dementia it is difficult to converse with him but the staff have unlimited patience and we can never thank them enough. His needs are all catered for with a smile and a gentle touch. Our sincere thanks to everyone.

We moved our mum to Steeton Court just over a year ago after several years of living in a home run by a large chain. What a wonderful place Steeton Court is, with amazing, caring, committed and professional staff. The change in Mum was incredible. The high level of staffing is a huge positive, enabling
personalised care for each resident. Under excellent management, training is regularly updated, and there is a real understanding of dementia care. Food is freshly cooked, and residents genuinely have a choice. Those with a reduced appetite are tempted by little plates of titbits. Activities are well planned, catering to individual interests as well as seasonal or spontaneous (ice cream on the patio when the sun shines!). My mum preferred to be in her own room, so someone regularly sat with her and read poetry.
I cannot recommend Steeton Court highly enough. It is clean, smart and attractively decorated. However, the real quality is in the staff and the excellent level of care.

Mum was in Steeton Court for 15 months, she sadly passed away on 25th October 2022, and during this time, she was so happy with her care and friendship with the staff and residents, the lovely room she stayed in (made it her home), the activities she enjoyed, the entertainment, the afternoon teas, the
food, and the three close friends she had, she was looked after so well.
Many thanks to all at Steeton Court for making her time spent there so special.

My friend has been living at Steeton Court for just over a year now. The staff are lovely and do their best to ensure that all her preferences are addressed. There is a real sense of community in the home, and my friend has made new friends among other residents who are able to socialise. I feel welcomed
as a visitor and very much appreciate the hard work and professionalism of all the staff who work there. Many thanks to all.

Mom came to Steeton Court for three weeks to build her up after a stint in the hospital. The care she received was wonderful. Mom needed support with basic daily needs, plus regular medical reviews and the staff looked after everything without hesitation. They provided a caring and professional approach,
which gave Mom and I reassurance and peace of mind. Mom was not the easiest resident at times, but her needs were always met with compassion and courtesy. I’m really grateful to all the staff and management for their support.

My mum was admitted to Steeton Court as she required palliative care for advanced bowel cancer. The care she received was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much for the staff, and she spoke so highly about all of them. We were so glad that she spent her last few months living there. She couldn't
have been more well looked after, for which we will be forever grateful.

Management and staff were always kind, caring and helpful. They helped my brother settle in by helping us to characterise his room with furniture and pictures he knew and loved, and they provided him with a very consistent and high standard of care. My brother was a bit of a challenge, but everyone
at Steeton Court coped well. I know he felt loved and safe. My family and I can't thank everyone at Steeton Court. If I have to live in a nursing home, Steeton Court would be my first choice.

The care and compassion my aunty received in the four months she was at Steeton Court was outstanding. She was treated with the utmost care and respect by all the staff throughout her stay. We were continuously updated and guided by their knowledge which helped us through a very challenging period.
From the day my aunt arrived, she was encouraged to make Steeton Court her home by being allowed to bring her own furniture and belongings this was invaluable to her settling in.
Once again, thank you for everything.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.742)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.742) out of 10 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.792 for Steeton Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (175 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.792
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Steeton Court Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I started my career as a staff nurse for the NHS and went on to work in varied nursing roles from immunising children to elderly care. In recent years, I moved into the care sector where I have worked as a nurse, clinical Deputy Manager and Home Manager. I am passionate about good quality care for our residents, leading with care and compassion.

Before becoming Home Manager at Steeton Court, in my first six months at Spellman Care, I worked across all four homes as a Quality Assurance Officer to ensure we were compliant, safe, and providing quality care.

I love meeting with the residents in our care, getting to know them as individuals and seeing what we can do to make their lives the best they can be.

In my spare time, I love to hike and can be found up many of the famous peaks in the country! I have two young boys who also keep me busy, and I like to go out for days with them.

Hi, my name is Samantha, I am the Deputy Manager at Steeton Court.

I joined Spellman Care in 2021. I obtained my BSc Hons in Adult Nursing at Ulster University in 2011 as a mature student. My career in nursing has focused on Elderly Care, especially Palliative Care.

I enjoy working at Steeton Court; we have a great team throughout the home, and I love seeing residents smile and enjoy their time with us. It is very rewarding knowing that we, as a team, make a difference to our residents.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, playing hockey and visiting places of interest (and no, not the pub)! I have been camping all over the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe.
