Beautiful surroundings/garden + conservatory. Would recommend. Some rooms require updating. Food ok.

Ghyll Royd is definitely to be highly recommended for its care and comfort provided to the sick patients that it has in its care.

The whole experience at Ghyll Royd Care Home was excellent. From the manager to every level of staff in the building, we were made welcome in the home. The nursing staff and team on "Beech" were caring, compassionate and respectful, not just to my mother, who received end-of-life care, but also to all the family at this very difficult time. Mum's end of life was dignified and comfortable, and we are eternally grateful that we chose Ghyll Royd for her final weeks.

Having visited a number of local care homes, I instantly knew that the Willow unit at Ghyll Royd was the best place for my parent's needs. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the facilities are very good- with a gorgeous conservatory and garden area. Most importantly, all the staff have that perfect mixture of being caring, skilled and professional.

My husband received end-of-life care at Ghyll Royd, and I cannot thank them enough for all the care, comfort, love, compassion and dignity extended to him by all the staff, especially the willow team. All the above was also extended to my daughters and myself as we spent precious time with Peter. Thank you for being there when we needed you.

Mum received excellent nursing care here after having a short spell in Leeds General Infirmary and then three weeks in a rehabilitation centre in Chapel Allerton following breaking her hip in a fall in May 2025. I cannot praise the staff and management highly enough for the way they looked after my Mum during July and August of this year. Everyone treated Mum with real and honest kindness and consideration. I could not have found a better environment for her to live in, or a more dedicated team of people for her to spend her final weeks with on this earth. I live a long way away, but communication with Ghyll Royd was easy and never too much trouble. I was cared for too, as we had many difficult days and the support I received was second to none. Mum made the difficult decision to engineer her own demise as "she was ready to go" and whilst this was heartbreaking to accept, everyone treated her with respect and made her last days very comfortable. My heartfelt thanks to everyone.

Yesterday we said goodbye to my dad who had received just over a week of the most amazing, caring and respectful end of life care at Ghyll Royd. It is difficult to put into words the gratitude felt by myself, my sister and my mum to all the staff. From lovely Kay who brought the laundry, Giovanni who always knew chocolate was the answer, Raoul who's gentle reassuring tap on my mum's shoulder let her know he was there if she needed anything, to Ian, whose words on our last night with dad left mum safe in the knowledge that she could rest and dad was in very safe hands. I said on many occasions, the staff at Ghyll Royd must tuck their angel wings into their neatly presented uniforms every morning because I don't see any other explanation of how caring and respectful they are. The first day mum went to visit, Nichola gave her a big hug, and that alone was enough to tell us that their focus was care. Care for the resident and care for the family. We cannot thank them enough.

My Dad received end of life care at Ghyll Royd. The care he received was exemplary. The amazing staff treated him with care, respect, kindness and dignity. They also cared for me, my mum and my sister while we sat with him, with endless cups of tea and shoulders to cry on. We are so pleased he spent his last days being looked after in this very special place.

My Dad was on end of life care at Ghyll Royd. The care he received was nothing short of excellent, but what truly stood out was the kindness, compassion and dignity with which it was given. Every member of staff treated Dad with such respect, gentleness and warmth and that made an enormous difference to both him and our family. Despite the very difficult circumstances, there was always space for laughter and humour alongside the tender care. They didn't just see him as a patient, but as a person with a lifetime of stories, and they honoured that right up until the end. As a family, we were supported too. We were always kept informed, included and treated with empathy and understanding. Knowing that Dad was safe, comfortable and surrounded by people who genuinely cared about him gave us peace of mind at the hardest time of our lives. We will always remain deeply grateful - thank you.

My wife has been in the Beech unit at Ghyll Royd for 18 months during which time she had excellent care from a wonderful team. She had diabetes, Alzheimer's and Coeliac disease and all these conditions were monitored and managed by the excellent nurses and carers on the unit. There were lots of activities morning and afternoon seven days a week available for residents to take part as they wish. There is a warm and happy atmosphere throughout the home which is shown by all the staff who are kind and helpful to residents and visitors. My wife was very calm and settled whilst she was in Ghyll Royd and looked upon the staff as friends. There was always a smile and a word or two from everyone we saw when visiting. Sadly, my wife passed away on the 8th May and the support shown by all staff we spoke to was a great comfort. We are extremely grateful for your care and attention and would like to thank all your staff who do an amazing job. We will continue to support Ghyll Royd going forward.

We will continue to come in and see you all as you can't say goodbye to extended family .

The end of May is my wife's birthday. I had mentioned it briefly to the staff but not made any fuss about it. So it was with great surprise and pleasure to find this afternoon that the staff had looked after in the morning, including shower/wash and style of hair. They left a birthday card/birthday balloon, and when I visited with my son and his partner, we were offered tea or coffee and a specially made birthday cake. All greatly appreciated.

My father was taken into Ghyll Royd to receive end of life care and was in the home for around 9 months. Over the time that my father was in the home, I found the staff to be extremely helpful and considerate, and I would be happy to recommend the home to people in the future.

They were very helpful regarding the laundry care of father-in-law's clothes. Able to explain how they deal with the garments.

My wife has been in the care home since beginning of December 24 and I have no issues with the home. When I worked in monitoring and evaluation with quite a number of clients, your standards are extremely good, and more importantly, your carers work well to achieve your high standards.

My friend spent the last 4 months of her life being gently & patiently cared for on the Rowan unit.

My family and I thank you all so much for the excellent care that you have given to my husband while he has stayed in your lovely home. You have treated him with respect, kindness & patience, meeting his needs and feeding him delicious food. Your home is a safe haven, it has a welcoming feel to it the minute you walk in and all the staff are lovely. So with grateful hearts we send you our love.
