My nursing career began back in 2010 in the Philippines. Before moving into hands-on care, I worked for a multinational company handling vaccines for both the public and private sectors. That experience taught me the importance of being dependable and precise, qualities I carry with me every day here at Ghyll Royd.
I first joined the Ghyll Royd family in June 2022 as a Senior Carer. After passing my OSCE in October that year, I jumped straight into life as a Staff Nurse, working both day and night shifts to get to know our residents inside and out. I was proud to be promoted to Unit Manager of Beech in November 2023, and it was a true honour to progress to the role of Home Manager.
I take great pride in upholding our core values of Kindness, Dignity, and Compassion. To me, providing exceptional care means maintaining a service that is modern, proactive, and forward-thinking. Transparency is at the heart of everything we do; I believe it is vital that relatives are always kept fully up-to-date with the status of their loved ones, ensuring peace of mind for the whole family.
I am also incredibly keen to build strong connections within our local community. My goal is to support all those who need it, including those who may not yet be residents at Ghyll Royd. I believe that if someone is already familiar with our home and our team, it makes for a much more comfortable and seamless transition should they ever need to move in. I have always believed in "changing for the better", and I view any setbacks simply as lessons to learn from. Ultimately, I strive to be a reliable, steady hand for our residents and their families.
On my days off, I’m all about balance. I love spending time with my family, hitting the gym, or playing a game of basketball. I’m also a student of Stoicism and enjoy a bit of investing. I find that the discipline I use in my hobbies helps me stay focused and calm in my professional life, too!
I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. After receiving a diagnosis of diabetes at a young age and spending significant time in the hospital, I found myself deeply moved by the compassion of the nurses who looked after me. They inspired me to turn my own patient experience into a lifelong career dedicated to helping others, and I have never looked back.
My journey began with 14 years of dedicated service within the NHS, which provided me with a strong clinical foundation before I transitioned into the private sector to manage day surgery. For the last 15 years, I have committed myself entirely to social care, progressing through roles as a Unit Manager, Clinical Services Manager, and Home Manager. This varied background has given me a 360-degree view of what excellent care looks like, and I was thrilled to bring that experience to the team here at Ghyll Royd when I joined in February 2026.
What I enjoy most about my work is that no two days are ever the same. The fast-paced nature of a care home keeps me motivated, but it is the ability to make a tangible difference in the lives of our residents that truly drives me every day.
When I am not at home, I love to escape the busy nature of work by spending quality time with my children and my family. You will often find us out in the fresh air, enjoying long walks with the dog and making the most of our time together.
