My name is Dawn Goodings, and I joined the Ghyll Royd team in November 2021.
Before starting here, I worked as a funeral facilitator for Heavenly Services, and before that, I was a Home Administrator for Anchor for over 16 years.
I have always been interested in meeting people and helping them to the best of my ability. I try to have a happy and helpful nature at all times with everyone I meet through work, listening to them and assisting them in whatever they need.
I hope to support my colleagues and the wider Ghyll Royd team in maintaining a CQC inspection rating of ‘Good’ whilst striving towards ‘Outstanding’.
Hello, my name is Ian and I am one of the Unit Managers here at Ghyll Royd Nursing Home.
I have worked here since 2015 and enjoy providing high-quality nursing care for our residents. I have a particular interest in palliative care, and introducing the Gold Standard Framework best-practice approaches to the Home.
The unit I am responsible for is called ‘Yew’ and is on the ground floor of the building. I like to encourage team cooperation and good communication, and to create an atmosphere that feels welcoming for everybody.

My name is Luke Moorhouse, and I started work here at Ghyll Royd Nursing Home in 2009.
I hold a level 3 NVQ in professional cooking and a level 2 qualification in cake decoration. Before Ghyll Royd, I worked at Thomas Danby College, Farthing's Restaurant, and Whitaker's in Otley.
I am passionate about cooking good food, prepared fresh on the premises, and I strive to maintain the highest standards at all times. I want all our residents to have a positive dining experience, and I like to consult with my colleagues, residents, and visitors about how to continually improve and adapt our menus.

My name is Amy Cafferky, and I’m an Activities Coordinator at Ghyll Royd Care Home.
I started at Ghyll Royd as a Housekeeper, soon coming to realise that I loved spending time with the residents. When I was asked to join the Activities Team, I was over the moon!
I’m an outgoing and friendly person and love to spend time in people’s company. I aim to brighten someone’s day every time I come to work. I could not imagine myself doing anything else. I love my job and the people I spend my days with!
My name is Kim Knaggs, and I'm an Activities Coordinator.
My role is to help residents access activities in groups or to take the activity to them individually.
I love to make a difference in someone's day, make them laugh, smile, enjoy themselves and try something new.
It's important to be there to listen to residents and their families, too - I like to think I'm very approachable.
My love of dogs and dog rescue can combine with work when I bring in dogs for pet therapy.

Hi, I’m Maverick
I joined Ghyll Royd Care Home in October 2022 as a General Assistant, supporting all departments across the home. Through hard work, persistence, and a genuine commitment to the organisation, I was given the opportunity to focus on maintenance and progress into my current role as Maintenance Assistant, supporting all four homes.
I find my role very fulfilling, as it allows me to help maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. I take pride in responding promptly to day-to-day maintenance needs and in finding practical, effective solutions. Being part of a team that puts residents first is something I truly value, and I’m always happy to contribute wherever I can.
