Following a disappointing experience with a care home...
From the initial entry into the care home, I was greeted.
I observed the staff were constantly busy but did look to remain calm. A great emphasis is made to all carers and their professional and prompt actions.
When I approached the staff
for information an answer has been given. Most importantly if an answer has not been given! I have been assured that an investigation would follow and information passed to myself or my good lady.
My partner and I visit the care home on a regular basis. The care home is exemplary clean and secure. An exemplary service we cannot ask for more.

After being together for 60 years the decision for my husband to enter a care home was a very big one, but one that had to be made. He has only been at Granby Rose for a few weeks and during that time his behaviour has caused a number of problems. However, these have been dealt with by experienced staff
who treated him with patience, kindness and compassionate care. Thankfully he is now beginning to settle in and become part of the home community. The atmosphere is warm, homely and friendly. The staff are cheerful, hardworking, efficient and attentive. Knowing my husband is being well cared for helps me to deal with the separation. Thank you, Granby Rose.

Excellent care and attention are given to residents. Regular weekly visits from regular GP.
Friendly staff always make us feel welcome on visiting.
If anything occurs they are quick to look for resolutions and include the family at every point.
Regularly encouraged to take part in the activities
and look forward to visits from therapy pets.

I am delighted that we found Granby Rose to look after my mother. The staff couldn’t be nicer and always go about their work with a cheerful demeanour. I live abroad and this can be challenging when a loved one is in a care home. Nevertheless, the staff at Granby Rose allow me to feel confident and

My mother required one-to-one care at first and two carers to wash and change her. She was hard work but the Granby Rose staff treated her with love and respect. She settled and for nearly five years she was usually busy walking or crawling around the home. The staff all took care and notice of her,
chatting to her and listening to her often nondescript chat and even hugging her. My mother would light up with happiness. When my father arrived at the home, the staff kindly assisted with their brief meetings. Staff very kindly sat with my mother as my father passed away. This meant everything to both of them. We cannot thank all the Granby Rose staff enough for their exemplary care of my mother and professionalism.
My father arrived at Granby Rose Care Home after his dementia increased and he became very immobile. He had always told his family he never wanted to be a resident in a care home. However, over the four and a half years he visited my mother, with my help, at Granby Rose Care Home, he enjoyed this and had good chats with the staff. When he became a resident at Granby Rose, he never complained to us and his first and last words were about the wife he loved and adored. The staff took great care of Dad and he was always clean and nicely dressed. The staff had a great rapport with my dad and many jokes. My dad was cared for with love and care to the end. Again, thank you so much to the professional kind staff who managed this. As a family, we are extremely happy with Granby Rose.

My mother was in Granby Rose Care Home for approximately eighteen months. In that time, my sister and I were very happy with the care my mother received. The staff went above and beyond, especially as my mother went into end-of-life care. They could not have been more efficient and sympathetic. They
work as an excellent team.

My mother was cared for by the team at Granby Rose for 18 months up until her recent passing. During her stay, I gained great comfort from knowing that my mother was so well looked after by people who really cared about her wellbeing. They treated her with great dignity and respect and always with
cheerful smiles. They took time out of their busy day to spend time with her, I cannot praise each and every one of the team highly enough for the care, support and sympathy they gave both my mother and also our family, towards the end of my mother's journey. They are all such a great bunch of people!

As I live overseas and have been unable to travel to the UK because of the pandemic, I have come to rely on the Granby Rose staff for regular updates on and contact with my dad. They have been unfailingly supportive, sympathetic and helpful and when I finally managed a visit, I could see Dad was liked,
respected and comfortable. Such peace of mind for me.

I am very happy with the home. Everyone is very helpful, friendly and cannot do enough for us. Everywhere is clean and tidy. The food is enjoyed by all and the entertainment team keep the residents occupied and happy.

As I don't live in Harrogate I've only visited Mum twice, of which, the staff were very friendly and the visits have took place in the reception room. I have done several virtual calls with Mum, some go better than others depending on other residents around. Due to Covid, I've still not seen any further
into the home than reception, therefore can't comment on all aspects. I do feel Mum is taken care of very well and usually gets involved in the activities taking place on a daily basis, which is very good.

My mother has been a resident of Granby Rose for nine months and although I have not been able to visit anywhere inside the home other than the reception area, because of Covid, I have been impressed by the level of care that she has received and the kindness towards her that the staff have demonstrated.
In addition, the management has always been very helpful and accommodating, responding to any requests that I have made.

We are very pleased as a family with the care my mum receives at Granby Rose. The staff are all amazing and work so hard to make sure all the residents are well cared for and safe. There is plenty of activities for Mum to participate in. She is very content there. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

My aunt was in a care home in York, she became violent, the home could not cope with it and demanded she should be moved to an appropriate nursing home. Every nursing home in York refused to take her having seen her assessment. We widened the search and approached Granby Rose. Right from the start,
I found the manager very helpful and positive; she immediately understood the situation and reassured me that she could manage my aunt. In all my dealings with her, she was professional and efficient, at every stage if she said it would happen - it did. All of this was happening remotely because we live 300 miles away and have not seen my aunt since pre-Covid. We have now been able to visit my aunt, she has aged significantly and has been scarred by the events at the care home. So it was very reassuring to find Granby Rose has met all our expectations; the staff are all professional, attentive, and caring. We believe she is in the best place.

I cannot recommend the staff at Granby Rose, what was a very challenging time of our lives the team there supported us and help us beyond our expectations. After studying a number of homes everything about Granby Rose has come out on top of an amazing community with amazing people. I cannot recommend

The staff were very welcoming. In fact, it felt like family. It is a lovely place where the residents seem happy and content. My friend always seems to have activities to participate in and the staff also seem to enjoy the residents.

Thank you to everyone at the home who works so hard to ensure all the residents are well cared for, engaged and stimulated. They deal with some very complex issues, in such a calm and reassuring way, that provides such reassurance to families and friends. The staff are amazing and the environment is

Victoria Longmuir

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2020

Victoria has enjoyed her career in older adult care for
over 12 years, since first working as a care assistant at
18 years old. Since then, she has obtained a
Batchelor of Arts with Honours in Sociology and a
Batchelor's in Science with Honours in Mental Heath
Nursing. In 2021 Victoria began working at a sister care
home as a Clinical Deputy Manager before becoming
Home Manager at Granby Rose.

Outside of work, Victoria loves walking in the
countryside and being in and amongst all things nature.


She says her biggest achievement outside of work
is her family, who she adores spending time with.
