Southwoods care home and staff have supported both Mum and our family with professionalism, compassion and kindness. The care is excellent, we make regular visits and it is lovely to hear the staff chatting with Mum whilst feeding her the meals. Excellent team. Thank you for your service.

Thank you all for caring for Mum in what sadly turned out to be for only a short time.

My father was in Southwoods for just over a year. Right from the start, he was made very welcome by the staff. He passed away recently, but in the time spent at Southwoods, he had grown to love the staff, and likewise, the staff loved him. He didn't want to go into a home, but they made his last year a happy one.

My aunt was admitted for end of life care directly from the hospital. She was immediately happier and eating hearty food provided by the home. She talked about each member of staff and how kind they all were. When we visited, we were warmly welcomed and shown where she was at that time (eg, in the dining room or her bedroom). They were in regular contact giving us updates on her medical condition. Sadly, my aunt's illness meant that she deteriorated quickly, after only a month in the nursing home, but during that time, we were able to sit with her for as long as we wished, and the staff provided us frequently with refreshments, including freshly prepared food. Every member of staff - nurses, care assistants administrative and support staff - were so kind. Our family cannot thank them enough.

Although my father has been a resident for a short while (6-months), the care and attention have been excellent. At 102, his physicality is failing, but his mind is still very sharp, so the banter between him and the staff, from the cleaners to top management, is very reassuring and makes his life at the home acceptable to someone who's been an independent businessman most of his life.

After such a bad year due to Covid-19 for everyone. My mother was on end of life care in March 2020. All of the staff, nurses and carers fought hard for her life and gave her 24-hour care, love and attention. I know for sure they all saved my mothers life. My mother tells me every day how much she loves me, but before I leave, tells me how much she loves all at Southwoods. It's a love that's true and spoken with love at age 92. Thank you isn't enough for all the love and care shown to my mother.

My husband has been in Southwoods for nearly six years. The care has been excellent, and have no complaints whatsoever.

My wife entered Southwoods home is December 2019 and has received excellent treatment from the nursing staff and their assistants. The approach by management regarding the horrible virus is excellent and one which I fully support, although I look forward to the day when restrictions are lifted and I am able to come in close contact with my wife again.

I really think that there are loads of things that need to be looked into at the home. Staff and training; staff need more understanding of the residents in the home and their needs, understanding of what residents can and can not do for themselves. For example, leaving tablets in a cup when that person can't grip or hold things due to arthritis in the hands. Or knowing that the resident has also got a swallowing issue and could choke and the staff should have a little more time with the resident rather than rushing in... there is your dinner, tea, etc. then rush back out. Staff should check in more times on the resident, not leaving them alone for long periods of time. One member of the staff tells my mother she has to get out of bed to change her stoma and yet other members can do the job whilst in bed, that gives me the impression that the staff are not trained enough.

My father-in-law has been a resident for over six years, and during that time, the care provided has been exemplary. The care staff always go the extra mile to make sure that he is comfortable and that he has everything he needs. Even during this difficult time, it is clear that the staff have gone above and beyond their usual duties to ensure his safety and well being. They all deserve the utmost praise and recommendation.

No complaints.

The staff are good and patient. They give me as much time to talk to me as they can. My needs are different from the other residents - company is what I need most.

Excellent care. Lovely people, great food and a lovely place where I leave my loved one with no worries knowing that she will be looked after. Staff are always lovely and well prepared for any situation.

Everybody at Southwoods nursing home was amazing with my mum. They really looked after her at the time she was there, cared for her even made sure she looked lovely every day with a nice scarf and a nice outfit. It was a real pleasure to have my mum there. Even to the end when mum was dying, they were amazing with me, my brothers and the rest of my family. I can’t ever thank them enough for making the last two years of her life. They looked after her, every member of the staff cared, it was so nice to see mum so happy in there. I just can’t thank them enough. Thank you very much, Southwoods, from the bottom of my heart.

My mother has resided at Southwoods for almost a year now and her safety, comfort, health and wellbeing needs are continually being met and adjusted as necessary. The staff are kind, caring and extremely hard-working, and any concerns I have raised, have been promptly and efficiently addressed by the extremely dedicated manageress. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Southwoods for the care needs of your loved ones.

I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Southwoods for taking such good care of my mother both before and during these difficult times. They have always cared for her extremely well, and have shown great compassion and kindness throughout - at times going above and beyond what one would expect. I would also add that whilst I am sure they have been very busy during the pandemic, they have made the time to keep us, as family, in the loop as to any changes in my mam's health and well being.
