Fantastic caring staff, couldn't do enough for my Father-in-law. He was only in the home 2 weeks before he, sadly, passed away. We visited a few residential/nursing homes first but nothing could beat The White House Nursing Home as far as we were concerned. Purely professional and dedicated staff and the home is run by the manager who was absolutely amazing.

We feel, as a family, that our Mother is very well looked after. She has daily health checks and her medication is given regularly. She enjoys the food and is happy in their care. Staff will call us with any concerns and always have time to talk to us on our visits. The staff are all caring and friendly and I'm sure they do their very best to care for the residents.

After a tour of the care homes that were recommended by South Tyneside Council, we were at our wit's end. Both my grandparent's were in the early stages of dementia and to drag them out of their own home of 40 years was horrifying us. Our last visit was the White House. It seemed like our prayers had been answered. A care home is made by the people who run it. They are genuine, wonderful people.

Staff very helpful and caring to my friend. Always someone to talk to if I have any concerns about the care of my Friend. Rooms could benefit of remodernising (furniture, carpets etc.)

My very good friend of 50 years has been resident at The White House for 5 months and his late wife for nearly 3 years before him. The staff are all very helpful, compassionate and cheerful and can always find time to discuss the situations as and when they arise. There have been various improvements to the fabric and furnishings but there is always scope for more on a rolling programme.

We bought my mam here with trepidation as she was in a serious state. She has been brought back to life with the care and nursing care. The staff are what make this home very special.

We are thankful every day for their help and support.

My mum needed full-time care and we had her in other homes. Nothing compares to this. She is so happy and her nursing care is second to none, the staff are amazing, they treat her like a mam and she loves it. Her health and well being is well cared for. 10/10.

I was visiting my brother on 22nd July 2017 at 2.05pm. He asked to go to the toilet. When I asked the carer she said he would have to wait until the other carer came back but when she came back the carer went for dinner.
I had to take him myself which is unacceptable. You should have two carers at all times and there's no management after 2pm or on weekends.

I think you should look into this and employ more carers.

Reply from Steve Smith, Regional Manager at The White House Nursing Home

We are very disappointed that our service has not in this instance met our own standards of care and support. We note the feedback and will be investigating this through our complaints procedures and responding directly to the reviewer.

We had to place my mother in a care home due to falls at home due to water infections, then the rapid onset of dementia. As a family, we had a good look round homes in the area but once we went to the White House we knew this was the place for her. You could tell the staff loved what they were doing, it wasn't just a job for them. Unfortunately my mother passed away after only 3-4 months in the home but while she was there she was happy and the family felt she was safe, she had made friends with other women and would sit with them while staff played music for them she was very happy there and as already stated the staff were brilliant with her.

My mother has been in the exceptional care of the White House in Jarrow since approx February of this year. From the time of our first visit we were very confident in the management, nurses and carers. They filled us with confidence in how through they are with mums needs and how they interact and care for mum. We fell we hit the jackpot when mum came here. Her care is second to none. Mum is so well looked after and this is from every member of staff. Nothing is too much trouble and they always have mum and her family's best interests at heart. We feel blessed that she is here.

My mam has been moved into The White House nursing home for end of life care after a long stay in hospital, she is now bed bound and has advanced dementia, making communication difficult. The staff have been extremely helpful, friendly and caring to her and to myself as well as being very attentive, dedicated and efficient.
