My mum came here from hospital for end of life care. Absolutely exceptional in every way. Staff were all lovely, they looked after her (and me) extremely well. I visited a number of homes before she was placed here and none were as good as this. There was one (not Darlington based) I wouldn't have put a goldfish in it was so awful. I am pleased my mum got to spend her final days here. The building is very nice, a lot better than some so called purpose built sites, it has character and charm and is in a nice quiet location.

The entertainment organiser and two cooks have done an outstanding job, going above and beyond for VE Day. From the decorating flags, hats, headbands and singing, followed by quiz engaging and stimulating the residents. An incredibly planned afternoon thoroughly enjoyed by all the residents. The dining room bringing everyone together like the street parties from ve day 80 years ago! Very patriotic and all interacting with each other sharing childhood memories! Very special day for all.

I find the staff approachable and helpful and my mother states they are all kind. I always feel welcome when I visit and go at various times of day, the home is always clean and fresh. The activities provided are inclusive and appropriate for elderly residents.

My Mother has not been a resident for a week and is in such a better place. She is happy and in her own words feels safe! And the ladies are lovely and gentle.

We feel extremely relieved that our Mother is receiving the best care and support while letting her be independent as much as possible.

Since Dad's admission to Wilton House, I have been delighted by how well he has been treated by all the staff, so professional, caring, kind, happy and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. The atmosphere in the home is fantastic. The gardens and rooms are maintained to an exceptional standard. The staff work together which is great and creates a positive feel. Residents are treated as individuals. Huge thanks to all.

My sister and I are of the opinion that this home is managed by an extremely high standard of care and attention to detail. Form the managed to the cleaners it is an excellent home for our dad and the staff are so approachable and relay information as necessary. We can't praise them high enough. Dad appears to have settled in well, looks happy and cheerful as he's well cared for and gives us peace of mind.

Six years ago when we were looking for a suitable care home for our mother, Wilton House felt the right one and has proved to be so. She has been well cared for and feels safe and secure. The staff have coped so well, especially in recent months as they always do, and we are really grateful for everything they do.

My husband, who is relatively young compared to a lot of residents in Wilton House, had to go into respite care for 3/4 weeks as we were having building work done at home to meet his needs after he became a wheelchair user on a more or less permanent basis.
Overall the staff, management, food and cleanliness were excellent and he was very well looked after.

The only quibble we had was the rooms are very dark but it is an old building.

The chefs, laundry staff, cleaning staff are always helpful and pleasant and do their best to please.

Mam's family can't thank everyone enough at Wilton House Care Home. The manager and all the staff for such wonderful care and love to our mother over eight years and to her end of life at the home. Also made all the family and friends most welcome.

The manager of this home is always ready to talk to us regarding our uncle. This attitude clearly influences the rest of the staff who all seem friendly, kind and helpful. Our relative is not the easiest or affable of people to deal with and yet patience and tolerance is always shown towards him.

The only criticisms we would have is the overriding odour typical of many care homes.

The staff and management have unending patience with the residents and they take time to listen to the residents and try to help in any way. They work extremely hard (from the cleaners to management) but never show signs of frustration or annoyance. The food is excellent and special dietary requirements are catered for, including individual resident's wishes.
