My very independent Mum came here for 2 1/2 years and learned to enjoy the simpler life created by the home. She was kept safe, clean and certainly beautifully fed!

The Manor looks extraordinarily beautiful inside and out, which to an artist and gardener was so important. I cannot thank the nursing staff in particular for their care and love, especially at the end.

My mother has blossomed since moving into The Manor House from a combination of gentle understanding and consistent care from every member of the team. The care did not stop with the resident, they care for the whole family.

Since being at The Manor House my mother has been cared for in an exemplary way. The home itself is beautifully maintained and all the staff display kindness, respect and warmth. Staff communication has been outstanding and I have always felt that management has prioritised out interests and those of my mother. My whole family is very grateful.

The care and love shown to my father by everyone at the Manor House was incredible. He felt very at home and well looked after. They even found his favourite trifle for his birthday!

I would recommend the Manor House to anyone. It is a beautiful location with friendly and caring staff. It was a pleasure to visit him there.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident at The Manor since September 2025 and during this time her health has deteriorated rapidly following a stroke earlier in the year. It has been a very difficult journey for our family as her condition has understandably affected her brain, outlook and overall personality. Despite the challenges we are facing, I want to say that teh home has been amazing throughout. The staff and carers have been supportive, attentive and kind and we genuinely cannot fault the standard of care and she had received. They have treated her with dignity and respect, and we are grateful for the way they interact with her. As a family, when it is your own mum, it is natural to feel emotional and sometimes to wish that more could be done, even when you know everyone is doing their best. Overall we appreciate the care she is receiving and the compassion environment provided by The Manor.

This is a well run care home with the residents health, comfort and happiness a priority. The nursing staff take great care of the residents, observing any health changes, calling for a doctor or ambulance to arrive promptly. The kitchen staff are excellent making meals according to needs. The carers are very food, treating the residents with dignity and friendship. The home is very clean with each room cleaned daily. The management provide entertainment where possible, with concerts, social events and weekly piano entertainment. The gardens are well maintained and residents are encouraged to sit outside on sunny days.

Overall Experience

The Manor in St Hilary had been recommended by friends who had direct experience of it's qualities, as well as health professionals who visited. It's reputation was well deserved, as she thrived in the caring and compassionate environment there which was more akin to a country house hotel than to a care home. Mam had always enjoyed cooking and was wholesome in her praise for the lavish lunches.

The staff could not have been more caring, with everyone knowing Mam's foibles and eccentricities, and amazingly accommodating them! Mam used to take full advantage of the private well-tended grounds with their wonderful views across the Vale, over the channel, and onto the North Somerset coast; we enjoyed many sunny days on the lawn.

As a family we got to know all the nursing staff over the four years Mam spent at The Manor and we felt that she had truly found a second family in the home.

We will always be grateful to the amazing staff there for making Mam's last years so peaceful and safe.

My mother-in-law was recently staying at The Manor House after a long traumatic experience in hospital. I cannot praise the staff there highly enough. She was well cared for and was treated with kindness and dignity. The nursing staff are very experienced and helpful in helping us understand her condition better.

She chose The Manor House because of its calm, quiet atmosphere and wonderful garden. It is a truly peaceful place to be.

Overall Experience
We have just placed mum in this care home after a traumatic time, including a short stay in another care facility. The Manor House is a beautiful old building with stunning grounds where you can sit out on a nice day (we have already done this several times). The staff are incredibly kind and patient and also very efficient, we can not believe we have found such a lovely place. Activities are arranged, there was an hour of piano playing the other afternoon, very relaxing to listen to in the lovely large lounge area. We have had lunch at The Manor and the food is very nicely presented and tasty.
We can feel at peace that mum is being looked after in a gentle, caring environment and receiving what we consider to be the highest quality of care.

The Manor House is fresh and clean and decorated throughout with stunning fresh flower arrangements.
