My mother, Joan went into Milsom House Residential Care and Nursing Home on December 1st 2026. Like lots of families having to face the decision of whether or not this is right thing to do, we too, found this a difficult decision to make. However, I need not have worried about the care that residents
receive there. Joan has been looked after and cared for with the utmost professionalism, respect and attention. Unfortunately Joan only spent five months in the Manors care. She passed away due to old age basically and at the age of nearly 98 passed peacefully in the homes care. We naturally would like thank everyone who was involved with Joan's care throughout her stay. I would not have done or chosen anything differently if we were to have our time again. If anyone finds themselves having to make a decision about a relatives or friends care, I would recommend you have a look at The Manor.

Since being at The Manor House my mother has been cared for in an exemplary way. The home itself is beautifully maintained and all the staff display kindness, respect and warmth. Staff communication has been outstanding and I have always felt that management has prioritised out interests and those of
my mother. My whole family is very grateful.

As the daughter of a resident, I cannot praise this care home highly enough. The care, compassion, and dignity shown to my dad were second to none. Both my dad and I were delighted with the excellent facilities, support, and exceptional nursing care provided throughout his stay. The staff consistently
went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable, respected, and well cared for. I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home to anyone looking for outstanding care for a loved one.

The care and love shown to my father by everyone at the Manor House was incredible. He felt very at home and well looked after. They even found his favourite trifle for his birthday!

My mother has been a resident at The Manor since September 2025 and during this time her health has deteriorated rapidly following a stroke earlier in the year. It has been a very difficult journey for our family as her condition has understandably affected her brain, outlook and overall personality.
Despite the challenges we are facing, I want to say that teh home has been amazing throughout. The staff and carers have been supportive, attentive and kind and we genuinely cannot fault the standard of care and she had received. They have treated her with dignity and respect, and we are grateful for the way they interact with her. As a family, when it is your own mum, it is natural to feel emotional and sometimes to wish that more could be done, even when you know everyone is doing their best. Overall we appreciate the care she is receiving and the compassion environment provided by The Manor.

This is a well run care home with the residents health, comfort and happiness a priority. The nursing staff take great care of the residents, observing any health changes, calling for a doctor or ambulance to arrive promptly. The kitchen staff are excellent making meals according to needs. The carers
are very food, treating the residents with dignity and friendship. The home is very clean with each room cleaned daily. The management provide entertainment where possible, with concerts, social events and weekly piano entertainment. The gardens are well maintained and residents are encouraged to sit outside on sunny days.

The Manor in St Hilary had been recommended by friends who had direct experience of it's qualities, as well as health professionals who visited. It's reputation was well deserved, as she thrived in the caring and compassionate environment there which was more akin to a country house hotel than to a
care home. Mam had always enjoyed cooking and was wholesome in her praise for the lavish lunches.

The staff could not have been more caring, with everyone knowing Mam's foibles and eccentricities, and amazingly accommodating them! Mam used to take full advantage of the private well-tended grounds with their wonderful views across the Vale, over the channel, and onto the North Somerset coast; we enjoyed many sunny days on the lawn.

As a family we got to know all the nursing staff over the four years Mam spent at The Manor and we felt that she had truly found a second family in the home.

We will always be grateful to the amazing staff there for making Mam's last years so peaceful and safe.

My mother-in-law was recently staying at The Manor House after a long traumatic experience in hospital. I cannot praise the staff there highly enough. She was well cared for and was treated with kindness and dignity. The nursing staff are very experienced and helpful in helping us understand her condition
better.
She chose The Manor House because of its calm, quiet atmosphere and wonderful garden. It is a truly peaceful place to be.

There aren't enough stars to rate Milsom House and this is because of the fantastic team of carers that look after my mum, going from the management to the cleaners, they are all just wonderful, it doesn't matter how busy they are, they always find time to stop and have a nice chat with us making us
feel incredibly welcome!
My mum was basically on her deathbed in hospital, when we managed to get her into Milsom House, within days, it was as though the clock had gone back 5 years as her very strong personality came back which was wonderful for all her family to see, this was down to the wonderful care and patience of all the staff at Milsom House
She has now been at Milsom for over 8 months and is absolutely thriving and that is down to the fantastic team that Milsom House are fortunate to have.
Thank you for looking after our mum/nan/great nan.
Reply from Gillian Allison, Clinical Manager at Milsom HouseThank you for your kind words. They are much appreciated. We endeavour to treat our residents as individuals and it pleases us that you feel your mum has regained her personality.

Milsom House

My mother of 97 years of age was allocated room 16 for a two-week stay in the first two weeks of June 2022. During her stay, she found that the emergency call pull cord in the en suite toilet did not work, and subsequently was stuck on there for over 45 minutes until one of the residents raised the
alarm! During the eleven days she was in residence, she was showered once! Although she booked for two weeks her stay was cut short when she contracted a chest infection and had to be transferred to the hospital. The home still insisted she pays the full amount for her stay. Even as I write this she is still being cared for, fed, and looked after in hospital nearly £2000 the worst off. This home is certainly not to be recommended.
Reply from Louise Johnson, Manager at Milsom HouseThank you for your review, feedback is always welcomed and is important to us. It is unfortunate that your Mum could not fulfill her booked two week stay with us however we do operate a minimum (non-refundable) stay of two weeks which is made clear from the point of enquiry.

We are sorry there was a fault with the en-suite call bell this was acted on immediately.

In relation to your Mum only having one shower during her stay, we encourage all of our residents at Milsom House to make choices about their care, personal preferences and to promote their independence in every way possible, their choices may not be agreeable to relatives and family members but it is important to us that we provide the care and assistance to a level with which a resident is happy and to respect their wish to refuse.

We have just placed mum in this care home after a traumatic time, including a short stay in another care facility. The Manor House is a beautiful old building with stunning grounds where you can sit out on a nice day (we have already done this several times). The staff are incredibly kind and patient
and also very efficient, we can not believe we have found such a lovely place. Activities are arranged, there was an hour of piano playing the other afternoon, very relaxing to listen to in the lovely large lounge area. We have had lunch at The Manor and the food is very nicely presented and tasty.
We can feel at peace that mum is being looked after in a gentle, caring environment and receiving what we consider to be the highest quality of care.
The Manor House is fresh and clean and decorated throughout with stunning fresh flower arrangements.
