The Priory Nursing & Residential Home

My husband goes into The Priory Nursing Home on a regular basis for respite care for me and has recently had a 4-week nursing stay. He is always happy to go there and is very well looked after by the friendly, helpful carers and nursing staff. He has complex needs which are always met without fuss

It was very sad to lose Dad but we know his last few months were enjoyable and he was happy at the Priory.

My father was a patient at the above for approximately 3 months before the end of life on the 19th August. At all times he was cared for with compassion and care and as his son I saw the process of his gradual decline so much easier. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved.

Mum has been a resident here for 3 years, she is well looked after, she enjoys the activities, and I am happy that she is always encouraged to join in and I am happy that I can visit mum when I want to.

Really great view, gardens very well looked after. Super clean and smells amazing when you walk through the door. Everyone really smiley and wonderful all throughout and just a really great environment! Owner really friendly and welcoming too!

Good care is what we all want for our loved ones and this is what stands out at The Priory. I have not yet met a member of staff that isn't caring and respectful of my mother. Nothing is too much trouble, there's no rolling of eyes or impatient words just gentle, calm care. Although I can make my own tea or coffee when I visit, they often offer to do it for me. Any requests are dealt with quickly and efficiently. They have taken the time to get to know my mother, there's no rushing or hurrying, yet again, calm, considerate care. Although my mother's bedroom is lovely, the lounge, activity room and outdoor space delightful it's the Care with a capital C that means I know my mum is safe and happy and that means I'm happy too.

We were always very pleased with the way Meg was looked after during her final days. She was kept clean and very comfortable. It was a weight off our mind to see how well she was treated by the nurses and staff. Thank you.

My mum has early onset Alzheimer's. She had a nurse assessment and was accepted for respite with the option to go full time.

The care was amazing and the staff that are caring are very compassionate and lovely. My mum settled well.

However the director unfortunately does not have the same compassion and what was a successful respite for permanent lodging was swiftly terminated as my mum quote 'would make him lose money and therefore does not want her.'

The site notes advanced dementia however this should be removed as she was declined in this basis or any mental health illnesses.

the staff are amazing and work incredibly hard to look after all residents. the facilities at the priory are second to none, alongside all the activities in place to keep residents busy. as hard as it's been for my nan to get used to, the staff have helped massively.

I noted whenever visiting that hygiene was of high importance and mum's room was always kept very clean, as were all the facilities. Her medical requirements were met fully, including a visit from the local GP. Mum made a great recovery during her time at The Priory enabling her to return home at the end of her stay. The staff are consistently professional, patient, and warm, and they go above and beyond to ensure my mum feels safe, respected, and comfortable every single day. Communication with family is excellent, the environment is clean and welcoming, and there is a real sense of dignity and pride in the care they provide. Knowing my mum is in such capable and caring hands gives our family complete peace of mind. I cannot thank or recommend this nursing home highly enough - they truly set the gold standand

My mother has been in the Priory for 3 years. She has been very well cared for, the staff are always cheerful and friendly. The Nurses and Admin staff have been very helpful and kept me well informed. There are a wide variety of activities and there is a peaceful garden with stunning views of the Wye Valley.

Communication with the home is good and the staff are friendly and approachable. They listen and respond promptly to any concerns raised and the atmosphere of the home is relaxed and caring. There is a helpful weekly timetable for residents highlighting planned activities. There are also links with the local community e.g. church and village school and regular visits from the hairdresser, nail technician, chiropodist etc.

My MIL was so well looked after, She engaged in activities and ate/drank well. (Mixed dementia-challenging!) The rooms are lovely and having stunning views.

The Priory is a warm, comfortable and welcoming home for my partner, who is living with vascular dementia. Staff are generally very warm, kind and helpful and friendly. The general atmosphere is cheerful and upbeat. Housekeeping, maintenance and kitchen staff all do a great job in keeping the house and grounds looking good. My only concern is that perhaps there could be a bit more stimulus for residents. Activities are an hour am and pm, and are done by 2.30, leaving a very long pm/evening. A room has been newly furnished for activities so hopefully this will encourage widening the scope. If one's loved one has to be in a care establishment, then I would recommend The Priory.

In addition, the outlook and surroundings of The Priory set as it is in the magnificent Wye Valley is also uplifting. Thank you all at The Priory for making this very difficult time a little easier.

Every member of staff I have ever spoken to has been professional and caring. Many have gone above and beyond to accommodate Mum's needs. I feel at all levels they know my Mum and understand her.

When Mum was unwell, I was told I could visit anytime, day or night, to reassure myself. This was a great comfort. Whenever I visited - day or night - Mum's needs were being met. She was calm and cared for. Regular doctor visits were organised to ensure everything was being done. Knowing Mum is cared for in such a caring and safe environment has taken a huge amount of pressure off my shoulders and has made a big difference to our relationship. I am now a daughter and not a carer.
