I am very pleased with the excellent care my mother received during her 18 month stay in the home. Staff kept me updated whenever my mother's condition or medication changed. I am grateful to the management and all the staff for their hard work and for the kindness they showed to my mother.

Mum had significant physical disabilities and dementia. She was in this home for 6 weeks until she passed away. Every member of staff; cleaners, carers, nurses, managers etc treated mum, my husband and me with kindness, empathy and compassion. I was kept informed of all issues affecting my mum, by
email, phone and face to face conversations.
Outside agencies; GP, Speech and Language, Social Worker, dentist were involved and welcomed into the home.
When mum was moving towards her last days and hours the staff were amazing. They made sure the three of us were looked after. When my husband and I went out to get lunch someone sat with mum to make sure she wasn't alone. She was treated with respect throughout her stay.
After she passed, staff continued the high standards treating us gently and with kindness.
I would recommend this home to any family looking for nursing care for a loved one.

My mother-in-law went into the care home in May 2024, during that time spent there she was very well looked after, both medically and physically. She had the best care ever and really enjoyed the events such as singers etc. She passed away in March this year, 2025 and she was cared for as if she was
a family member. We will never forget all the staff from management, nurses, carers, admin, cleaners and even handyman with kitchen staff.

While my mother was here she has been looked after with a personal touch - always loved to attend it felt like family. Thank from all our family for the lovely care she had been given. I would highly recommend the home for the care. Thanks again.

From the moment I entered the care home back in February 2024, whereby I was sourcing a new card home for my mother because of her dementia deterioration. My anxieties were immediately put at ease. The efficiency with which my mother was transferred within a week of my initial visit was second to none,
all because of Bargoed Care Home. The hourly, daily and weekly care with extreme levels of dignity given by all personnel within the care home is way above the call of duty. Communication levels towards myself with updates regarding my mother are extremely satisfying, alongside the contact made with numerous support external bodies.

Bargoed Care Home provides a welcoming environment. The staff are friendly, professional and supportive. The residents have their own personalised space and have many opportunities for social interaction. There are opportunities to take part in activities for fun and well-being. Medical needs, health
care and food choices are well met. The care staff work well as a supportive team, led by excellent managers.

On arrival, always greeted with a nice, friendly manner. The staff are always very friendly and smiling. Nothing is too much trouble. All areas are immaculate and well-maintained. My friend is being very well looked after. Her room always looks lovely and she is always encouraged to eat and drink, even
when she was poorly. The bathroom and bedroom are always spotless. There is always entertainment at holiday times and activities if they choose to join in.

My sister has been a resident at Bargoed Care Home for a number of years. She regards it as her home and is happy and content; this is due to the excellent care she receives from all the staff. This was apparent with Covid recently when under very difficult conditions, the home was kept running smoothly
with all hands on deck, and excellent care was maintained.

The care home is immaculate, well kept and always looks lovely. The corridors are kept clear no matter when you go in. The staff are friendly and happy, and nothing is too much trouble. They will always stop and socialise, besides having friendly banter. My aunt has settled in very well, always clean
and treated with care and dignity - she also says how lovely everyone is. Previously, my father-in-law was in this home, and this was how I recommended it to my aunty. I know there is no need to worry as my aunty is in safe hands! Thank you!

My father was only in Bargoed Care Home for a month before he passed away. During this time, I was so impressed with the care that my father received. He had a stroke in December and slowly declined mentally and physically, but the staff tried to lift his spirits by moving him to a bigger, brighter
room with a view, providing him with a bigger bed and ensuring his personal photographs and moments were around him. In the last week of his life, I had Covid, and I couldn't be with him, but the staff cared for him so well and kept me informed. I will be forever grateful to them all.

All my mother's needs are catered for. She has a loved room, with everything she needs. Clean bedding, clothes, etc. All her medical and personal needs are sent too. Food and drinks are all monitored, giving me peace of mind. She is totally being looked after. Any medical conditions are promptly seen
to by a doctor or nurse and treated promptly. The staff are friendly, and the manager is very helpful.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.529)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.529) out of 10 for Bargoed Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.840 for Bargoed Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.84
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.689 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bargoed Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.889
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
