I cannot thank the Glan family enough for all the care they delivered to my mom. She was looked after with such dedication and compassion.
The home is welcoming, friendly and maintains a person’s individuality. All staff groups - carers, nurses, cleaners, management and caterers showed empathy and consideration in abundance.

Exceptional care by exceptional people.

My Mother, who was a very private and independent woman, realized on September 22 that she needed full-time care, as she was continually falling. She was 91 at the time. We were lucky enough to get a place in Glan Yr Afon care home, and within two weeks we, and she, knew it was the right decision. The staff was marvelous. She could be very rude, but the staff were so kind and understanding that she loved being there.

However, in early February 24, (17 months after going into the home), she suffered an inoperable condition and was transferred to the hospital. She knew that she was dying, and started palliative care there, but all the time, she wanted to go back to Glan Yr Afon to die, because she said that she loved it there and had so many friends among the staff. She was so happy to go back, even though she passed away a couple of days later. I (and all the family) cannot speak highly enough of the home... they gave her 17 additional enjoyable months of life!

Five stars would never be enough to rate the care and compassion given to my father and my family, especially in the last few weeks of his life at Glan-yr-Afon care home. Management and staff were outstanding, nothing was too much. I speak on behalf of my dad, myself and my family when I say we couldn't have got through it without this special team. The care and dignity they gave him was unbelievable and so special. I couldn't thank everyone enough.

Reply from Ashok Bansal, Director at Glan-yr-Afon

Our mam was transferred here as she needed more care than the old home could give. She was always immaculately dressed and taken care of. The staff are so helpful and friendly. It really had a family home feeling. It was a real pleasure to visit. Always arranging family days of fun and entertainment. Amazing care home and would highly recommend to any person who needed care for a family member. Thank you for loving Mam as much as we did.

Following a fall at his residential home, my dad spent four weeks in hospital. Due to him becoming bedbound he was unable to return to the home and needed a nursing home. As a family we had no hesitation in choosing Glan-yr-Afon as our mum spent the last two weeks of her life there in 2017. Sadly, Dad passed away on the 10th of October 2023, with his family by his bedside constantly for the last four days of his life. The love, care and support given to Dad, Mum and us by the Glan-yr-Afon family was amazing, loving, totally professional, compassionate and considerate, from the management team right the way across all staff, including carers, nurses, maintenance and catering team. We felt like we were part of the family that is Glan-yr-Afon, they laughed and cried with us and gave our parents a dignified passing. Their support and love in 2017 and in 2023 helped us through the darkest of times and we cannot thank or praise them enough.

Reply from Ashok Bansal, Director at Glan-yr-Afon

Dear Caroline, thanks a lot for your kind words. We do really appreciate it enormously. It was really a privilege and honour to have Dad with us, although for a short period. In the absence of your dad and mum, we all here at Glan, hope and pray that the Lord will console you all and send His angels to watch over your families.

My wife transferred from hospital to the Glan-yr-Afon care home after several long stays in hospital where it became obvious that she was not capable of caring for herself in her own home even with a care package in place. The move was a little traumatic at first and she took a little time to settle into her new environment. The staff and management were excellent in welcoming her and trying to make her feel part of the home. Her health has improved greatly since taking up residence at the home. It is extremely encouraging to see how the staff and management work together with a hands on attitude which gives a sense of team effort and a clear commitment by all. Nothing is too much trouble for them and a welcome for visitors is always there and encouraged. A well-run and managed home to a high standard.

My dad is currently a resident of Glan-yr-Afon and has been since February 2022. As a new process for myself, I can't thank the manager enough for his help and support throughout my dad's transition from the hospital. Dad resides in a ground-floor room which provides views out over the garden. All staff I have met or become involved with shows empathy, compassion and professionalism in all aspects of their daily roles. Any member of staff is approachable and will do their utmost to help you with any issue/concern you have. As my dad has swallowing problems, all his dietary needs are met and always fresh, hot and provided in house every time. Such a happy and supportive home which provides a warm and caring environment for all who reside there. I really like the feeling of belonging to a large family unit and know I can approach any member of staff and be helped with any problem I have.

Dear Helen,

Thanks a lot for taking your valuable time to review us. Much appreciated and I am sure the staff will really love to hear that. Your help, regular visits and ongoing support are great and Dad is highly appreciative of the same. I just can't believe it is over a year since Dad joined...

Mam has been a resident at Glan-yr-Afon for four months, all the staff are very caring and considerate and always keep me up to date with how Mam is doing on a day-to-day/weekly basis. Nothing is too much trouble for them, I know Mam is safe, well looked after and all her needs are being taken into account, she is happy and I can see she loves the company of all the staff. The staff become your second family and the nursing care is second to none. I would highly recommend Glan-yr-Afon.

Whilst we have had some teething problems, the manager and the staff always work with us to overcome these. The manager always strives to do what is right for the residents and you can see that he genuinely cares about all of them. The home is lovely and Mam is clearly receiving very good care. The food at the home is exceptional, very good quality and always presented nicely for the residents. Overall, my sister and I feel that Mam really is in safe hands and for that we will be eternally grateful.

It was a very daunting experience having to discuss the care needs of my parents and the staff at Glan-Yr-Afon made it a painless process.
We have been involved in all aspects of their care needs, especially my father, who has been included in social activities which have stimulated his mind, which is essential as he has Parkinson's. Many thanks to the activity nurses who work tirelessly with the residents to ensure their interests are taken into account.
The nurses and care workers are very approachable and helpful, as are the manager and office staff who do all they can to offer us, as a family, ongoing support.
The setting is very welcoming, clean and in good order.

Family members are encouraged to visit loved ones and are encouraged to attend fundraising activities and coffee and cake events and I look forward to the Christmas activities at Glan-Yr-Afon.

Mum has been in Glan-yr-Afon since January 2022.
It was a difficult decision for Mum and our family as Mum has always tried to be so independent in caring for herself, but the time had come when she needed full-time professional nursing care.
From day one on going to Glan-yr-Afon, we all knew we had made the right decision in choosing this place.
Everyone has made Mum feel so welcome and they go above and beyond to make sure all her needs are met.
From catering for her dairy allergy to arranging her medical care very quickly.
The manager and all the staff keep us informed of any updates at all times.
It really is a lovely place and there are always lots of activities going on which Mum can choose whether to participate or just have a quiet day in her room should she feel like.
I would not hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone needing care.

Thank you all so much for all the love and care you have shown to Mum and our family.

My family and I would like to thank the manager and staff for caring for our mother. When she arrived she was really unwell, the manager always had time to fit us in for visiting and feeding and within weeks our mother was up in the lounge with other residents eating and feeding herself, all through the love and care she received. We can't fault the home thank you so much.

My mum moved into Glan-yr-Afon in November, we were all worried about Mum going into a care home due to her being so independent for so many years but when the time came that she needed care and nursing we couldn’t have been happier with Glan-yr-Avon. They look after Mum very well, the care is excellent so I have no more worries knowing that she is safe and being looked after. The staff and managers are so kind and caring even with us relatives who are probably ringing every day to check on their loved ones, and because I don’t live local and have to travel the manager goes out of his way to make sure he can fit me in to see my mum.
The staff keep the residents amused with quizzes and bingo and get them all involved with different activities.

So thank you to all the staff and management for all your hard work and for looking after my mum so well.

We would like to thank the manager and all the staff at Glan-Yr-Afon for all the love and care that was given to my aunty. We could not have asked more for her from everyone at the home. They went above and beyond for us and respected my aunt's wishes. She was loved, cared and always looked clean and beautiful, which was very important to her in her last days. We were well informed of everything that was going on in the home. The whole experience from day one has been a pleasant one. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a new home.
