When Mam went into Glan-yr-Afon, she had been poorly and in hospital. She’s lost weight and muscle mass. Since being in Glan-yr-Afon, her mobility has improved, she’s gained weight and meal times haven’t been an issue (liquid diet before, puréed now). The standard of care is excellent. All of the staff
are friendly, very caring and supportive to both Mam and me. Mam now enjoys the activities, the company of both staff and residents, the food, the atmosphere and most of all, the care she receives. I did obviously have concerns when Mam’s care was taken out of my hands, but it’s the best decision I made, and that is thanks to all of the staff and the welcome she’s received. Mam is more chatty, smiles more and loves all the staff equally and just generally enjoys life again. Mam and I have now got a Mother/Daughter relationship again, and that’s priceless.

Whilst we have had some teething problems, the manager and the staff always work with us to overcome these. The manager always strives to do what is right for the residents and you can see that he genuinely cares about all of them. The home is lovely and Mam is clearly receiving very good care. The
food at the home is exceptional, very good quality and always presented nicely for the residents. Overall, my sister and I feel that Mam really is in safe hands and for that we will be eternally grateful.

My mother has been a resident here for 5 months, in that time I have found the staff and manager very caring and kind, what was a very difficult time having to go into residential care was made so much easier for my mother and myself. I am so glad she was able to get a place here, nothing is too much
trouble and my mother's needs are looked after very well.

It was a very daunting experience having to discuss the care needs of my parents and the staff at Glan-Yr-Afon made it a painless process.
We have been involved in all aspects of their care needs, especially my father, who has been included in social activities which have stimulated his mind, which
is essential as he has Parkinson's. Many thanks to the activity nurses who work tirelessly with the residents to ensure their interests are taken into account.
The nurses and care workers are very approachable and helpful, as are the manager and office staff who do all they can to offer us, as a family, ongoing support.
The setting is very welcoming, clean and in good order.
Family members are encouraged to visit loved ones and are encouraged to attend fundraising activities and coffee and cake events and I look forward to the Christmas activities at Glan-Yr-Afon.

Mum has been in Glan-yr-Afon since January 2022.
It was a difficult decision for Mum and our family as Mum has always tried to be so independent in caring for herself, but the time had come when she needed full-time professional nursing care.
From day one on going to Glan-yr-Afon, we all knew we had
made the right decision in choosing this place.
Everyone has made Mum feel so welcome and they go above and beyond to make sure all her needs are met.
From catering for her dairy allergy to arranging her medical care very quickly.
The manager and all the staff keep us informed of any updates at all times.
It really is a lovely place and there are always lots of activities going on which Mum can choose whether to participate or just have a quiet day in her room should she feel like.
I would not hesitate in recommending this care home to anyone needing care.
Thank you all so much for all the love and care you have shown to Mum and our family.

My family and I would like to thank the manager and staff for caring for our mother. When she arrived she was really unwell, the manager always had time to fit us in for visiting and feeding and within weeks our mother was up in the lounge with other residents eating and feeding herself, all through
the love and care she received. We can't fault the home thank you so much.

I cannot fault the care and accommodation of the manager and staff of Glan-yr-Afon even with the Covid restrictions. We were able to attend for feeding and kept up to date with my mother's welfare. All the staff were kind, caring, encouraging and very patient with my mother and all my worries and concerns
were put to rest. I am very great full to Glan-yr-Afon and would highly recommend them to everyone.

My mum moved into Glan-yr-Afon in November, we were all worried about Mum going into a care home due to her being so independent for so many years but when the time came that she needed care and nursing we couldn’t have been happier with Glan-yr-Avon. They look after Mum very well, the care is excellent
so I have no more worries knowing that she is safe and being looked after. The staff and managers are so kind and caring even with us relatives who are probably ringing every day to check on their loved ones, and because I don’t live local and have to travel the manager goes out of his way to make sure he can fit me in to see my mum.
The staff keep the residents amused with quizzes and bingo and get them all involved with different activities.
So thank you to all the staff and management for all your hard work and for looking after my mum so well.

We would like to thank the manager and all the staff at Glan-Yr-Afon for all the love and care that was given to my aunty. We could not have asked more for her from everyone at the home. They went above and beyond for us and respected my aunt's wishes. She was loved, cared and always looked clean and
beautiful, which was very important to her in her last days. We were well informed of everything that was going on in the home. The whole experience from day one has been a pleasant one. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a new home.

Both my parents are cared for at Glan-yr-Afon. They both moved into the care home in November and have been looked after and helped to settle really well. The staff are friendly and extend their care not only to mum and dad but to me as well. I’ve had to ring the office many times for various reasons
and have been helped every time. My dad is always telling me how lovely the food is. Thank you to everyone for the love, kindness and understanding you have given my parents and the family. It is really appreciated. Visiting has been the only restriction but understandable under the current Covid pandemic. Again, these have been put in place to protect staff and residents. Again, thank you, everyone.

No words can express how great I feel about the care and attention Mum received at Glan-yr-Afon. It has been hard due to the Covid restrictions, but the manager and his team always did beyond and above to make sure that we were fully involved and informed. Very approachable, accommodating, caring, friendly
place. Mum had the best care during her 4 months stay at Glan-yr-Afon. I would recommend this home for anyone looking to place your mum or dad.

Extremely happy with the care this home provides. So friendly, very high standards.

The general care given at this home is very good indeed and the staff and managers seem to try to generate a very homely family atmosphere at all times. They have all been excellent with my Mother and with the family - I know I have found it very difficult to come to terms with my mother's dementia.
We have been very lucky in finding this home and they have made my mother's final years comfortable and she seems very content with her circumstances. I cannot thank them all enough for helping us and my mother through such difficult times.

My mam was a resident here up to her death on the 22nd Aug 2015. I cannot thank the staff an carers enough for the wonderful care that my mother received during her 3 and a half years stay. Her care was second to none, mam was treated with dignity and respect by all, in fact they were like an extension
of my own family. With an open door policy there was always somebody on hand to discuss issues with or even to chat with if we felt that there were needs to be addressed. The manager and her staff are the most caring people I have come across in many years. I cannot thank them enough for the care that they gave to my mam in her last days, we as a family thank you so so much.

Mam had suffered with her illness for several years, however in the last year really badly, admitted to different hospitals. Mam went into Glan-yr-Afon care home in May. She was given a single room which was comfortable with lovely bed linen and plenty of storage for her personal possessions. We were
very impressed with the care and dignity mam was given. I was kept well informed at every stage of her care and was shown care and compassion myself which I feel has helped me tremendously at an emotionally difficult time. It is a difficult decision to have to make for a loved one to go into care but I would not hesitate in recommending this care home. Thank you all so much.
