Overall Experience

My dad moved to Hillview Court Care Home in November 2022 and the difference in him has been unbelievable. He went in there underweight and depressed and is now totally thriving! Every member of staff I've spoken to has been genuinely caring and so helpful. You hear a lot of bad press about Care Homes in general and this put me and my sisters off putting Dad into one but I can honestly say that Hillview has been exceptional, so much so that when I'm elderly and can no longer care for myself, this is where I want to be! I also think what makes this care home the ideal place for someone to live is because the units aren't too big like you find in the majority of care homes. My dad is so comfortable in the company of the other residents and I'm not surprised as it has a real sense of family. More care homes should be built this way, it offers our elderly loved ones so much more dignity and a sense of home. I honestly cannot praise and thank all the staff here enough!

Our brother became a resident when Hillview Court opened 21 years ago.
We can say that he has been treated with such care that we as his sisters could not give him.
This is his home and that is how he is treated.
The staff are amazing and keep us informed of any changes in his care or any relevant issues.
We can't praise the staff enough and would like to say that the entertainment coordinator has raised the spirit of the residents and their families.

We think that Hillview is an excellent care home which should help others looking for a residence for their relatives.

In preparing for my mother going into a care home we had to offer our choices and this was No. 1. It has realised our expectations and now settled, Mum is relaxed and happier than she has been in years. Now, almost 98 years old, she enjoys the company and activities and her smile and humour has returned. The staff are really kind and caring and all who know me are open with information and requests. The care home is well managed with very good staff/resident ratio and small units on one level.

The care, which my late brother experienced, has completely dispelled any fear I had in respect of spending the latter months/years of life in a home. I can honestly use words like - a loving, happy, spiritually developing environment. Having visited many homes (as we get older our friends do too) I have been in one where the staff are both so compassionate and efficient. I thank them so much. My family has been well blessed.

My sister-in-law has been in residence there since it opened in 2001. During that time she has been looked after extremely well. This is good to know because we live 500 miles away and can only visit 4 times a year. We need to know that she is well looked after and this we have with Hillview Court Nursing Home.

My brother has been a resident in the Bluebell ward since 2017. The care he has received has been exceptional as has the support the family has been given. The activities for patients is encouraging and enjoyed, providing stimulation and memory awareness.

The environment for residents is brights and cheerful with visitors being encouraged to involve themselves in daily activities.

My husband cannot speak, feed himself, shower, dress, undress or get out of a chair or bed unaided.
Yet he is always clean and smart.
The level of care he receives is excellent.
One of the things I particularly like about Hillview Court is the small units with only 8 rooms in his unit.
It is peaceful and quiet, I visit three, sometimes four, days per week.

The staff are extremely helpful.

My Brother recently passed away after spending almost 4 years in Willow Unit at Hillview Court care home. He felt at home immediately and settled quickly as he was made so welcome by staff and other residents. His health was cause for concern on several occasions throughout his stay and the support of the dedicated staff was fantastic. Not only did they care for his every need on a day to day basis, but they made all the necessary arrangements for doctor/hospital visits and wherever possible he was accompanied by the same member of staff. This helped provide continuity of care and gave a better understanding of his complex needs as well as being very reassuring for our family.
Throughout the very distressing few weeks prior to his death, staff were truly exceptional. They provided one to one care ensuring my brother was as comfortable as possible and supported our family by arranging refreshments; allowing us to stay overnight and even offered transportation from their own family members 4x4 during the severe winter snow should we need to get there in an emergency.

I would highly recommend this care home who have our wholehearted gratitude for such commitment and care.

My mother was in the frail elderly unit with moderate dementia. Throughout her 2 and a half year stay, she received excellent care in a very warm and friendly environment. She was very happy there and was full of praise for the staff caring for her. She at all times was treated with respect and dignity. The staff were very approachable and any minor issues we had during her stay were addressed.

Towards the end of her life, I was impressed by the very personal and professional manner in which her care was managed ensuring, as much as possible given her illness, that the final days and weeks of her life were as stress less and pain-free as could be managed. I wish to put on record my deep appreciation for the care given to my mum and have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others.

I am very impressed by the care, concern and support staff have given my mum. She can often get upset and tearful and staff deal with her with great kindness and respect. Staff are all very approachable and happy to talk to relatives and pass on any concerns to the nurses. My family are pleased that we held out for a place at Hillview for mum and we are very satisfied with her care.

My mum became a resident at Hillview Court in March 2016, since that time we have developed complete faith in the staff. They are kind, considerate, work very hard, nothing is too much trouble. I have complete confidence that my mum is in your hands. Her room is always spotless, fluffy towels hanging in her bathroom, her clothes neatly pressed in her wardrobe. A great place!!!

My dad was admitted into the dementia unit in Hillview over 2 years ago. On admission dad was a challenge both physically and verbally. It had been a long time since I saw dad smile, which was heartbreaking because he had such a wicked sense of humour. Although I know it has been tough for the staff at times, they have been very patient and caring to dad and this has paid dividends. Dad's smiling again!! He seems so settled, he still has the occasional outburst, but the staff know him well and can see the signs. Dad recognises the staff faces and he seems to trust them. Would I recommend this care home? Definitely. Both the manager and staff are very approachable, they always keep us updated. We can leave dad knowing he's safe and secure.

I enjoy the fact that every day is different. I find it very rewarding to see our residents enjoy a good quality of life. I enjoy the problem-solving and overall running of the service and have an excellent team here to support that.

It is my responsibility to ensure that our residents receive the best care possible, that they are listened to and that their needs are met. It is also really important that my team are supported in their role to assist our residents.

I know and love the local area having been here for over 20 years. The scenery is amazing, with views over the hills and wonderful country walks to go on. I look forward to welcoming you to meet the community here at Hillview Court.
