I arrived here 3/4 weeks ago. The service and facilities are excellent. The staff are really friendly. I was taken out to see my 89-year-old mum which was excellent and greatly appreciated as I had not seen my mum for a year.

My dad moved to Benarty View after several months in hospital. He has made great progress in terms of his physical and mental health wellbeing. He now walks with support receiving the right action at the right time to keep him in good health. Although we’ve not had an opportunity to visit indoors yet
due to Covid restrictions we can observe, via a private Facebook group, a wide range of social activities offered. Residents look happy and engaged with each other and with staff. Special occasions are celebrated and enjoyed. The care home is very well led with welcoming and friendly staff. Communication has been excellent. This has been key whilst my dad settled as a new resident and during the pandemic. Most importantly my dad reports being happy and well cared for. He is treated as an individual and with respect. Staff take time to listen to his needs and stories. It is so reassuring to know that my dad is safe and being so well looked after.

The way Benarty View has handled the communication between residents and their families during the pandemic has been excellent.
The lockdown was announced and implemented before many other homes - hopefully helping to prevent the virus from getting in.
A closed social media group was set up, and it
has been very comforting for me to see how well my uncle is being cared for.
It has been particularly gratifying to see the many indoor activities being undertaken to shorten these long days and the outdoor entertainment which has allowed relatives who live close enough to watch and listen to from a safe distance at the same time as the residents.

The Management and staff have been absolutely amazing during the lockdown. The residents have been cared for so well and they have been treated to a huge variety of activities and entertainment to keep their spirits up.
A closed social media group was recently introduced and many lovely pictures and
videos have been regularly posted. This is such a comfort to the resident's families, particularly at this time.
The Management encouraged us to send letters and photos to the residents by email. These are printed off and delivered very quickly.
I feel my Mum could not be in better hands and thank all the staff for everything they do.

From the moment my mum went to Benarty View she was welcomed warmly and has been treated with respect as one of the Benarty 'family'. The staff quickly got to know my mum's likes and dislikes and her need for reassurance and cuddles, which has been especially important during Covid-19 when we couldn't
visit to give hugs in person.
The manager and staff are happy to chat through any questions we have and readily give updates on how Mum is or will find out if they haven't been working with her. The residents are treated as individuals, with many activities organised for them to take part if they wish to, doing hair and nails or bingo or art. Staff will dance with my Mum because she loves to dance. There is a genuine sense of care from staff to residents, and it is lovely to observe their interactions with each one.
Rooms can be personalised to keep up individuality. The environment is homely. The family are encouraged to call Mum and video calling has been really helpful until we can visit.

I cannot find a single bad word to say about this care home. I visited loads of care homes before choosing one for my papa and I was set out to make sure he had the best there was! As soon as I walked into this home I knew this was the one. All the staff are amazing! There is nothing the staff won’t
do. They are like an extended family.
The care home is like a home from home doesn’t feel clinical or like a hospital. It doesn’t smell like a care home either despite there being a bathroom along every corridor at the door.
This isn’t a care home for my papa this is home with family.

My mother has been in the care of Benarty View for 4 months and during that very unsettling time, all of the staff have been so helpful, going out of their way to help her feel more at home. They have gone above and beyond on many occasions, catering for her. I know when I visit that everyone knows
my mother as they all interact with her. The staff here are amazing and I can’t recommend Benarty highly enough, they have made a very difficult time that much easier for everyone and I can’t thank them enough.

I recently visited my friend at the home having been unable to get down for a few months. The home is under new management. The home has undergone a redecoration programme. It now looks fresh and inviting. It is light and bright and has made a big difference. The staff continue to be friendly and approachable.
When I arrived my friend had just returned from an outing around the coast. The staff offered me refreshments and as always I found that nothing was too much trouble for them.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.757)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.757) out of 10 for Benarty View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Benarty View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Benarty View Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
